Will this franchise ever get the Alien: Isolation treatment?

I just want to be completely paranoid and untrusting of everyone around me.

someone should make a terrorist town server for this. but instead of shooting your teammates you transform into the hl2 zombie

>TTT:TT

Was the previous PC/Xbox game any good?

It was alright

The bloodtesting was just horseshit though.
>Test a guys blood to see if he's a thing
>Doesn't say he is.
>Walk through a doorway
>Cutscene plays where he turns into a thing.

Well there was a map based on the movie in which you could build the ufo and do blood testing and all.

There's a Garry's Mod gamemode called "Morbus" that's basically "The Thing"

There's a list of needs you need to fullfill, hunger, sleep, sanitation. Only the alien infiltrators don't have these needs and are the only way to detect them unless they'll reveal themselfs to kill somebody.

Anyone who dies becomes ayy lmao infiltrator too

The best The Thing game was PARASITE and we'll never get something better.

>I just want to be completely paranoid and untrusting of everyone around me.
You can always lurk Sup Forums

I enjoyed it, but as pointed out, certain aspects are far from perfect. Pretty solid Third-Person shooter though.

Nah that just makes me feel ill.

i want a multiplayer thing game but its hard to think of how it would actually work

Another player turned into a thing has almost no incentive not to kill themselves or help the players

Quick idea: At random intervals the power in the map will go out, turning the screen pitch black, when it comes back on there will be no knowing if anyone in the group has been attacked by a Thing or not. Further more, there should be constant objectives that require the group to split up and maybe a timer so that the group gets to spend as little time as possible together. There should also be an AI controlled Thing lurking the map that strikes primarily when players are isolated.

That's just something I came up with off the top of my head and there's probably a bunch of holes in the theory, but if done right it could work well.

The only problem is, without extreme moderation, the rounds quickly devolved into random death matches with people opening fire on eachother for so much as going to same direction as someone else
(Pic is a comparison between the original prop vs CGI Thing from the prequel)

Fuck you for reminding me of this shit. Now I'm mad again.

>that part when a Thing smashes through a wall while you're in a save room
That part got me pretty fucking good.

It sort of works in SS13.
In fact, most servers will have a Thing-based round from time to time.

My only gripe with the SS13 changelings is they usually have some sort of immobilized/sting that can't be spotted and can be performed in a blink. Next thing you know, your character get paralyzed, then you get dragged off into a vent to have your juices sucked out. Still less bullshit then Wizards

Kinda don't want this discussion to die so soon

What if The Thing became a multiplayer game, where a random player was made The Thing and had to bluff and lie to not get caught while he tries to infect as many others as possible?

It all depends on the server I guess, most servers on the hub removed parasting a long time ago and replaced them with some ridiculous alternative.

You'd have to have some sort of meta goal to accomplish, so the Thing could act around that instead of just being stomped down by bored PCs knifing everyone.

Survive the arctic wilderness (collecting supplies and shit) or repair a space ship or something. Tasks to accomplish with a strict timeline to keep everything tense and moving.

I've always wanted something like this, but not that SS13,

Yeah, they'd need to find a way to strongly discourage just knifing everyone. They could make it about survival and wrongly killing one person would put you at a huge disadvantage.

I think nobody should start as The Thing though, infact, anyone who IS The Thing would only find out once the others do.

Also make sure the thing dying doesn't end the round. That way there won't be as much incentive to hunt the thing, because even if you find and kill him, you might fail your objective anyway if too many die.

Humans kill Thing + complete task: Major victory humans, Major defeat Thing
Humans don't kill thing + complete task: Minor victory humans, Minor defeat Thing
Humans don't kill thing + fail task: Minor defeat humans, Minor victory Thing
All humans dead: Major defeat humans, Major victory Thing.

Forgot one case:
Humans kill thing + fail task: draw

I sure do love this movie.

>tfw you will never look as rugged and manly as Kurt Russell

Space Station 13 already did this years ago.
The trick is to not have every round be a The Thing round.
It's best when you don't expect it.

Wouldn't the thing have reacted when they took the blood sample to begin with?

The downside is that vets are /really/ good at identifying what the round is, unless the BBEGs are employing solid snake levels of stealth. Usually SOMEBODY fucks up and gets spotted.

It would have to be a social multiplayer game akin to something like The Ship or SS13
