Did you ever outgrow certain video games, or do you still love all the ones you liked as a child? (exclude things like nostalgia making the game seem better than you remembered) purely from a maturity perspective

>Did you ever outgrow certain video games,
Basically all of them

>or do you still love all the ones you liked as a child?
Basically most of them

I grew out of most Nintendo games in the 90's, when the transition to 3D hit it became apparent that their games just weren't novel anymore.

Outgrew FPS after the Unreal/Quake period of my life. I managed to play a bit of CS source in high school, but it was already becoming boring at that point.

Fixed the image OP

that's the best fix i've ever seen

I don't think I'll ever outgrow Dragon Ball.

>people still watch dragon ball

how the fuck

It's about time Super got an OP that wasn't shit.

If you feel like you are outgrowing something, then you are still a child. When you can go back and enjoy something for what it truly was, you have become an adult. People who grow up to think they can't enjoy "childish" things are just mentally handicapped.

Dragon ball super

Because it's still coming out.

But it's the same fucking thing it's always been. Hell it's even worse.

Dragon Ball / DBZ is still the best coming of age anime and shounen overall.

One Piece? More like one piece of shit.

>No one mentions one piece
>"one piece sucks guys"

Dragon ball lifers are insecure manchildren

>Did you ever outgrow certain video games, or do you still love all the ones you liked as a child?

No.
The first game I played was some C64 karate game. The first console we had was a SNES. Those games are still pretty damn good.

I could imagine this happening for Kingdom Hearts though.
But I thought that shit was pretty damn gay back then already.

Can't really think of any other example where this'd apply. Video games were always pretty approachable from a narrative perspective. No matter what some snotty "media critics" say.

I recently replayed SMW which was teh first game I can remember ever playing.

Still just as fun now as it was then

One Piece is like the highest rated shounen or most often the highest on charts. No one has to mention it.

I fell off of console-style games pretty hard when I got into PC gaming in my late teens. Now and then I'll try playing a Mario game or a JRPG but I just find them boring.

JRPG's have lost their appeal for me over time, at the same time action games became more appealing

Dragon Ball Recut

I still play hold Nintendo games for nostalgia's sake (GameCube and everything before it), but I don't really have the patience to play modern Nintendo games anymore.

>Outgrow certain games

Of course. Literal kiddie shit like Putt Putt. However lots of other shit I've revisited and enjoyed. People seem to think that just because something can be enjoyed by a child that means you can't enjoy it while you're older. Those people are usually severely autistic

If you liked them as a child, you're going to remember them fondly as an adult.

That doesn't mean you'll want to replay them, but it generally means you'll defend them.

Well when I was a child
I used to love RPG games because I didn't have money to afford buying many games so the games I bought should be games I could play for a long time.

Now I am 28 and I am literally making over 200k euro per year after tax and my apartment is paid off.

Now I prefer short games because I want to play many games and not invest time in 1 game too much if its not a online multiplayer game.

real men watch jojo's bizarre adventure

At least it keeps things semi-interesting while following the shounen formula. By comparison Dragon Ball Super is boring as fuck. Does DBS have filler though?

*old

I still enjoy the ones from my childhood based on nostalgia, but JRPGs are doing everything in their power to turn me off from the genre lately.

It's getting harder and harder to enjoy those.

I outgrew Pokémon and shit like that around age twelve.

Also, I played Nintendo games out of desperation as a kid. Grew up a poorfag. Now I only buy Nintendo consoles if there's an exclusive I'm desperate to play (Monster Hunter).

Haven't outgrew anything else.

Yea terrible filler too, at least most of OPs filler arcs are tolerable

Super a shit, I'm just talking about DB/DBZ.

Yeah, when you're working that much you don't really have time to enjoy long rpgs.

It's rough.

I actually met some metalhead IRL who's watched the whole thing in Japanese. Watched an episode with him and it looked awful, but we got a few laughs. Goku's Japanese voice actor(actress?) is especially awful.

LOL ok, whatever helps you sleep at night you manchild

I don't work more then other 8 to 16:00, its just i much more paid.

Is that.....

yeah i think 3rd person shooting and basically games that require both mouse and keyboard for example assassins creed games like max payne dark void and stuff, I used to love them but even though games like these exist i don't bother even looking them,
but platformers i can never grow out of they are just amazing,
a game very dear to me called shinobi 3 i play almost daily, these kind of games i can never grow out of.
and also Haven't played fps games for a long long time.

I realized jrpg's are absolute trash and inferior to wrpgs in every way. gameplay is boring af and the stories are always fucking stupid. i don't know what my younger self was thinking.

hol up..........

normalfags like you need to leave

>best coming of age anime

Youre a plebian who has shit taste, like all anime fans. It is largely a medium devoid of any narrative merit. When it does, it sells like 500 blu ray copies. Jap monleys have shit tatse and so do you

I've outgrown Pokémon
The last Pokémon game I played was ORAs
Felt like a complete chore also: too easy, I don't care to catch all the Pokémon, don't care about shinys, don't care about those stupid dress up tournaments, get pissed off I have to interact with my Pokémon now, find some designs to be homey looking.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm too old for Pokémon now and it will never be Gen 1 and 2 again

not an argument

this pic hurts because i rewatched old dragonball when i was 21

He's right weeb
Goku's dub VA > Goku's jap VA

I guess Pokemon.

Loved the games up until gen V which actually is my favorite gen but then gen VI came out which was just fucking horrible.

I tried watching a playthrough of SUMO but that was a huge snorefest and I didn't like pretty much all of the new designs.

I play fewer game genres then I used to. I used to play just about everything but now I mostly stick with FPS games, RPG's and survival horror. Sometimes I'll play something new if it's good, but I don't play fighting games anymore. Mostly because I just got tired of getting jewed constantly.

>SUMO

that's what happen when voice actor is old gradma
also fuck you, original voices are over 8000 better than english dubs

That's literally every fucking Chinese cartoon.

...

I don't think I've ever outGROWN a video game, more like i exhausted myself to the point of no return on a lot of video games.

Example, I cant play borderlands games anymore because when i load up a new character, all i feel is stress for all the shit i have to do. I immediately remember every bullshit quests i have to wade through to make it to end game, and i just end up stopping after 5 minutes. I get new games because i NEED new content, not because i hate the old content.

I loved the fuck out of halo 3 when it was still relevant, and it was the first game i ever played multiplayer online. I wouldn't trade those memories for the world, but i don't play halo anymore because i just know everything that can happen.

Play gen 5

>original voices are over 8000 better than english dubs
I usually watch anime with Japanese dubs but Goku was just awful man.

You are right, but your explanation makes you look like a kid yourself.
Either you "outgrow" things or you don't. Simple as that. I enjoy lots of stuff I have enjoyed as a child, but other things are just not up my alley anymore. Also depends on the overall quality of the show, of course.
Like Darkwing Duck. It's still great, especially with all the references and stuff I only understand now. It still gives me new things to discover.
Dragon Ball, while fun, is just tedious to watch because there are ten episodes where nothing happens, so I don't watch the "original", but the recut and wonder how I could bear watching that stuff over fifteen years ago.

>tfw you're so familiar with a classic game and know everything there is to know about it
>tfw you go back to it, play a bit and find out that it feel spent and hollow as you've played it for so fucking long

I stop liking DBZ when it took almost 12 years to translate the original series

No I still fire up gens32 for megadrive or WinUAE for amiga every now and then.

I'm in the middle of a Buck rogers: countdown to doomsday playthrough right now. I did a 3 warrior 2 medic 1 rocketjock team and named them after Blakes7 characters. (I'd enjoy old TV shows too still)

>32 and married and 1 baby and 1 fetus the size of a lychee.
Feels good being an adult and doing whatever you want man. Just have fun lads.

>Dragonball Z
I never understood the appeal and autism surrounding it. X-men is in the same catagory too.

It's power fantasy that tackles real life (?) issues. Whether they be social issues or shit like death.

I still enjoy the Ratchet & Clank series.

Sadly, Sly didn't age as well.

But that is the thing. You didn't outgrow DBZ. You didn't leave it behind because you became more mature. You just grew tired of it. As far as games, not every game has replayability built in. For example, games like FF and Nier draw a good bit of their strength from a strong story. The more you play them, the quicker you will tire of them. Saying you are too mature to enjoy something is just childish logic though. This is what is meant when you use the term "outgrow", so if this isn't what OP meant, then he should have picked a better term.

Dragonball Z has no real life issues.

Death is a real life issue.

>Did you ever outgrow certain video games

Funny enough, I grew out of FPS games and came back into Nintendo games after ignoring them for 2 generations straight.

The only genre I TRULY left behind and probably will never get back to is JRPG.

I never outgrew Pokemon. However I don't watch the anime anymore. Plus many people seem to still like it. I do admit that it will never be like Gen 1-2, but the hype for the rest of the Gens were great(except for 6).
