Tits.

It's the "le successful kickstarter" meme

As soon as a game is successfully funded on Kickstarter, it immediately becomes the subject of scrutiny.

If it fails, everyone laughs and says "HA FUCK YOU THAT'S WHY I DIDN'T BACK IT"

If it succeeds, everyone says "BASED INDIE DEVELOPER OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD"

If it is completed with minimal issues, however, people still feel the need to justify their backing, and therefore hype it even further. When really, it is just a mediocre product made with a mediocre budget.

Shantae is such a mediocre series

>You will never be able to sexually please Giga Mermaid

You just posted it.

tits and waifufags.

>giga mermaid will never stuff you in her vag so you can massage her cervix
>giga mermaid will never eat you afterwards as a snack
>you will never become one with giga mermaid forever

It's amazing how the best Shantae game has none of what the traditional gameplay Shantae games have.

there's a lot more collecting and finding secrets this time, but the level design took a hit because of it. Some people like the collection part I guess. The graphics are at the best they've ever been too that helps.

But gaming sites hate "sexist" games. Why is Shantae getting the free pass?

Cos it's kawaii as fuck, fampai.

>Stripped down the Metroidvania elements that made the series so beloved
No. Metroidvania backtracking is horseshit and everyone hates it except a very small minority.

>there's a lot more collecting and finding secrets this time
Nope. It has much less exploration than previous games and it's more straight-forward.

This. Metroidvaniafags are the worst.

shantae is brown, she's the hero and other than the slave-outfit part from the pirate's curse she never ends up in any compromising sexual situations. Like there's no men lusting after her in the game or anything that might make a woman playing it uncomfortable.

>everyone hates it
Shit taste and wrong. Lmao.

Sup Forums is never right

Still her standard dressing is quite revealing and seducing (this is why the games also make jokes about it).

Also Jasmine from Jasmine is brown too but Disney tries to do shit like this:

fpbp

it has way more collectable stuff than any earlier shantae game. Compare guides on how to 100% the game for the pirate's curse and half genie hero, there's many more steps you need to take to 100% the latter. They have roughly the same completion time in hero mode (1 hour and 40 minutes) but that's including the much longer dungeons in the pirate's curse, meaning much less time gathering the collectibles.

>Stripped down the Metroidvania elements that made the series so beloved
Oh look, another guy who doesn't know what Metrovania is.

Shantae was never Metrovania. It's far closer to Zelda 2. Also why are people so surprised? Each game keeps changing things so a sequels wasn't going to be exactly like Pirate's Curse or the first game.

It's fun + cute animu grills

Of course the sites and fans are trying to remain positive in the face of a rather massive disappointment, what did you expect?

I don't get what happened. It's like they just gave up developing at Hypno Baron. The final level is piss easy, like Risky's Revenge easy. Sure, SatPC's final level was probably a bit overboard, but still.

Did they get to strung out trying to decide whether or not to make a game like the original or instead transition to a game purely like Mario or Sonic? Because it was both at the same time, and it was not a good idea, regardless of how many ways that you could fast travel or warp. And collectathon, my God that was awful. And how do you screw up the music?!

Still, we got some good stuff out of it. Shantae became more things through her dances, some magic spells that make her badass (as well as the tiara), more excellent humor, some interesting things with the lore (like the Genie Realm's workings and the magic carpets being used by Ammo Baron), etc.

Side dishes compared to the actual meat of the game, sure, but enough to peacefully bury the game away deep in the series' history.

...

Honestly the best way to improve the series would be to either find a way to incorporate transforming into the basic moveset without having to stop and dance, or just drop transformations completely.

Ding ding ding. I don't get a sense of exploration from rubbing my dick against every wall in the game hoping there's a heart container in it, I get pissed off.

>tripped down the Metroidvania elements
Good. Metroidvania elements are artificial gametime enlargers that add nothing to the gameplay themselves.
I can't wait for this shitty sub-genre to die.

I guess WFTO is mediocre product too when taking all this into account. I fucking hate kickstarter, that shit should be illegal.

The humor is still great at Half Genie Hero but for some reason the story didn't have the impact that Pirate's Curse had. And as a game generally was still enjoyable (even if it's the weakest entry of the series) and with beautiful graphics and animation. At least it wasn't Mighty No9.

I wish to become one with the Giga Mermaid!!!

youtube.com/watch?v=OWSIlmeHlzw#t=0m25s

I don't think there even were metroidvania elements in Shantae 1. Or in the very least, they weren't very significant until Risky's Revenge. They aren't neccesarilly required for a Shantae game.

I don't get vore.

The music was great, idk what you're smoking

Is there better stuff you can let giant gals do to you

You need to be hit on the head a lot

Never played a Wayforward game that didn't overstay its welcome. They're like futons; comfy at first, the less comfy over time.

>comfy at first
If ya were sleeping on a rock an entire month prior.

This is giving me a chub despite me hating vore. Please help me. Getting digested is fucking retarded

Massive SJW here.
what said but also...

Even what Shantae's wearing makes logical sense. Like bellydancing is actually a gameplay mechanic and ties into the genie stuff. It's different than, say, Code of Princess for example where the "traditional ceremonial garb" reason given is just a flimsy and fabricated excuse for the protag to wear lingerie into battle. That said I'm likely one of the only five people who actually likes Code of Princess

Yeah, I know some of the staff makes thee games one handed, but it's not to some uncomfortable excess.

If you don't like vore then why is it getting you hard, huh?

>Massive SJW here.
And I'm the priest king of the universe.

>story didn't have impact
Because it was just Risky being a douche again, ending on yet another Shantae's family/past cliffhanger.
With all of this Kickstarter attention and the multiplat release, I really expected WF to up the stakes on the story. I think everyone did. What stories were there, were rushed, no gravity at all to them. Giga Mermaid didn't attack Scuttle Town, Shantae didn't have to learn how to work with Wrench, the Flying Carpet Tournament had repeating NPC's and no story progression, and Hypno Baron's part wasn't even a white-knuckle fight and struggle and a bunch of fear just to zing you at the end. The game is just lacking all around.

Oh don't get me wrong, it's a fine enough Mighty Switch Force soundtrack, but not Shantae.

>when the gameplay is so terrible that you need fanservice in every single thread just to stir up discussion

Really makes you wonder if the game is even worth it at all.

Make that 6 nigga, because I love Code of Princess.

No you just one of the 5. CoP was absolute shite.

Your picture is the reason.

I like the idea of getting played with by a giant. But this is risky territory here, that tongue looks so inviting though

Forgot about the belly dancing bits from the first game, did you?

But really, it boils down to this: Shantae wears what she wants, she wears something appropriate for the setting and situation, and she does it for "herself". She isn't showing off her butt and cleavage, even if they are rather exposed. She isn't wearing anything too unusual compared to other people in the games, men included. And just her movement shows a sense of self-comfort, as opposed to showing off assets to an invisible audience.

Simply put, she comes off as a person who enjoys wearing that kind of outfit, rather than a person who was forced to put on that outfit and deal with it for an audience.

I'd ask for you friend code but I forgot how laggy and fucked the multiplayer is.

The original is. With some advice.
RR if you don't mind easy and replayable.

But that's it.

I like the idea that impending demise is so close and any moment her life can be snuffed out.

Performance wise, yes. Gameplay wise, nope.

*your

t. thought Axiom Verge was good

This. Makes me pretty much avoid these games, especially when the thread begins with X a cute or something of that nature.

>Gameplay wise, nope.

>not Pirate's Curse

Seems like eating something alive/healthy would be a bad idea. She'd be better off paralyzing her first then eating her.

You make it sound like that doesn't happen in 90% of threads about any game.

Sorry you don't like juggling in your ARPG, user.

What if she likes the feeling of her struggling inside?

Gameplay wise, it absolutely was meh. Everything about it was meh. You had to equip Super Armor just for it to be bearable.

Except for playing as the random characters. That was entertaining for a while.

What bamboozles me is all the missed opportunities for dialogue, you don't even say anything to the snekk the first time you meet her, and the giga mermaid shows up the once and then is gone forever without a single word, pirates curse made the most of you bumping into npc's for the first time at least.

Edgiest entry in the series AND suffered from 1980's camera, enemy placement, and respawning issues.

I wouldn't think of implying that. Not with certain companies making a killing on the market.

>Edgiest entry in the series

Does your brain lack the ability to function today? You seem to be getting confused a lot.

>Overhyped
that's your own problem

I don't like shit in my ARPG, senpai.

>sandnigger

I hate having this fetish, but my dick doesnt care

...

>1980's camera

it actually has a way bigger camera relative to character size than both the original and Risky's Revenge

How the hell is Pirate's Curse the edgiest in the series?

If she started slicing open her stomach it probably wouldn't feel too good

It's B-. There are some good ideas here but the execution is all over the place. The levels are clearly designed so that all the other characters and transformations can just be dumped into the fray with little change. Maybe the DLC heroes will make it better, but for now this is just an OK game.

I wouldn't mind getting stuffed somewhere else....if you know what I mean.

She pulls off almost any outfit.

It's a cute, fun game. They gave people exactly what they wanted. No one expects Shantae games to be a masterpiece or even great. But the charm in the game counts for a lot for the people that do like them.

*SNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF*

Getting inhaled by a giant mermaid doesn't sound all that pleasant

Even though this game is shit it's still much better than the rest of the series.

Camera issues, same ones that plagued the original. It might be larger, but the enemies' timings were still screwed up.

How is it not? The final boss is a giant skeleton and rips up Risky's clothing, an underworld, Shantae doesn't have access to any minigames or her fun dances, ghosts/mud bogs/more vicious monsters per capita in general, the final area is overgrown with flesh that has eyes for no apparent reason, Dark and Light Magic, etc.

I understand that it's a relative comparison, but that point is still valid.

pungent indeed...is that....dare I say....sssssssnniff...tuna I smell?

>Why is Shantae getting the free pass?
Designed by a woman.

never played a Shantae game, but Shantae is VERY CUTE.

Shantae isn't in a big enough game to get noticed by SJWs and contrarians. Shantae is stuck in the middle between an indie game and a high profile game. Few games in the middle even get noticed by review sites, let alone the sheep that follow review sites.

Dragon's Crown is one of the exceptions and all the complaints it got just let to Dragons Crown selling way more than it was expected to. Honestly WayForward would love for Shantae to get a big controversy going and sell 1 million extra copies. But for now, it just looks like one of the million generic anime clone games.

Because I had fun playing it.

>60% white

Vore fag plz leave.

Shantae just caught up to the rest of gaming now, which is lowered gameplay standards to not offend braindead retards.

...

A lot of people say that the dancing mechanic is fundamentally flawed, but I disagree.

Shantae was never a good game or series, every game was always mediocre and it would never have been as popular as it was if not for the decent sprite art and character designs.

She wouldn't be able to swallow with that chain on her neck. She would choke on genie woman and genie would be crushed in her throat

But so are the Neptunias.

>be a fifteen year old girl who likes to draw lewd art

I bet she drew lots of porn and has it hidden away on her hard drive.

I am happy that Japan is taking some interest in Shantae.

Pirate's Curse > Shantae GB > 1/2 Genie Hero >>>>> Risky's Revenge.

Prove me wrong.
