Harsh truths thread

Harsh truths thread.

This game really isn't that great.

>Linear is inherently bad!
Never post again.

m-muh scripted sequences, all games should be arcadey maze games

this post is as gen-z as it can get

m-muh qtes, all games should be cinematic

>gen-z
hurr xD us millenials huh

m-muh DMC, all games should have satisfying, complex combat that doesn't insult the player's intelligence with its inane shallow simplicity like Arkham-style games

Linearity is not inherently bad

CoD 1 is a good game (and so is the addon).

HL is meme shit made by a fat jew that ended up ruining an entire platform.

So Half Life created Call of Duty?

autism

>we've gotten to the point that underages hate Half-Life 1
That game was fucking amazing you faggots

DUDE PHYSICS THAT WERE AROUND SINCE 2001 LMAO SUCH AN INNOVATION

>endless stream
we all wish because that stream ended pretty quickly

For the first 2 thirds. The last third of the game is fucking abysmal.

Siege is better, this game is out dated trash that can never compare

was
keyword is was

Xen was alright. Not as good as wondering through the lab seeing all the weird experiments and shit but it was okay
>implying games actually age
no

Just stick to Doom wads

What did half life do well?

Gunplay is poopoo, zombie and hitscan enemies, gimmicy physics features, waiting for talking npcs, no secrets in maps, a talking suit...

triggered

>gunplay is bad
Wrong. Half-life actually had a bunch of cool guns that did cool things.
>zombies
This was way before they became shitty and even then there was a shit ton of different enemy types from random army gunts to giant aliens
>gimmicky physics features
Wrong half life unless you mean like jumping puzzles in which case i'd rather have that then just shooting forever
>waiting for talking NPCs
it was few and far apart
>no secrets in maps
but thats wrong
>a talking suit
What a random complaint. It barely does anything besides just add some environmental noise. Its not like its bitching at you to do objectives

I fucking hate Sup Forums

Go back to passively watching Redditlettermedia on Sup Forums, crybabby

>Half-LIfe
>Endless
I just made myself sad now

it was the CoD of its time

Pokemon went down the shitter on 3DS

Black 2 was the last good game.

>teeter totter """puzzles"""
This shit is honestly what fucking killed the entire game for me. There's no way I'd ever want to replay HL2 knowing I'd have to stop every couple minutes to stack some bricks like an autist.
>b-but muh innovation
It wasn't even the first game with physics.

your underage is showing

>"this game was good years, ago, but now it isnt"
>doesnt even care to explain why
you are trash.
here is a timeless counterpoint
see what I did there?
sonic adventure was always bad, people just developed some taste later. It never became bad.
as for hl, I think its better than hl2, but still an average game.

SA is still good tho

Why do people like LA SWAT Simulator again?

Opposing Force was better than the original. HL got stale really fucking fast.

Call of Duty is cool in my books. I'm not a huge fan, don't even like it all that much, but they always stick a single player campaign in the game and it always manages to be a quite solid experience and do something different, if ever so slightly, each game.

Well worth the pirate in my opinion.

>Quake 2
>Goldeneye 007

Terrible, terrible meme.

CoD is boring as shit and has no enemy variety because god forbid anything actually have multiple different things you have to fight nowadays

...

You haven't played black ops 3 huh?

>casualized games

That's bullshit, though. Half-life is far harder than Doom and Duke Nukem.

BO3 did have enemy variety.

>sonic adventure was always bad, people just developed some taste later. It never became bad.

That's literally what everyone means when they say a game "aged". That people at the time had lower standards because of limited options. You'd have to be some sort of autist to bitch at someone who said "it was good, but now it's bad" because anyone with half a brain would know there's an implied "good by the standards of the time" in there.

There ya go, rustling my jimmies again.

>Linear
Yes, but linear != bad

>streamlined and casualized
No.

swat 4 was always inferior to raven shield

nobody actually wants to play arena shooters anymore.

Siege was dumbed down for underage faggots but so was Vegas

>create a game
>your game is creating more games
>they're creating even more games
>be a billionaire
Nice.

but half-life created call of duty

kill yourself

>sonic adventure was always bad, people just developed some taste later. It never became bad.
People didn't "develop some taste".
What happened is that Sonic Adventure benefited from tons of wow factor being one of the earliest 6th gen games with shiny new graphics, being the first proper 3D game in a popular series, having multiple large hub worlds, having tons of voice acting, having 6 very different characters with unique stories, and having tons of shallow set-pieces that impress you the very first time you experience them like the whale chase. It was a big, showy game that was ambitious mostly just in its presentation.
All that has happened over time is people were able to look beyond those almost-entirely-irrelevant-to-game-quality qualities and see the game for what it always has been.

except all the people that still play arena shooters you stupid faggot.

This game has had more influence on the industry than Half-Life.
Fight me.
