It's really not that bad.
In terms of having a coherent and enjoyable narrative, it's better than Nep. The dungeons are significantly better than in the original (including some big areas where you can dash around really fast), and it has significantly branching story paths with entirely different characters/party members in each.
The battling itself isn't too engaging, but it's alright. One of the remake's cool features is that it lets you use up to 6 party members in battle at any given time. Unfortunately, unlike Nep, there's no combo attacks, but it's still fun to have a ton of your characters out at the same time.
Wait for a sale. It's worth 20 bucks or so.

It's okay man, it's a BS game sometimes (most of the time). I was able to get lead god and beat the sixth chamber on the same day just to getting new unlucks and really good runs. Then I realized I'd never be able to do it consistently, the magic kind of died.

It really just comes down to pracitce. I couldn't even get past the second floor when I first started playing. By now though, floors 1-4 are trivial (except Floor 3 boss which is always way harder than it should be).

There's still a decent player base, mostly in larger cities. I moved to rural Illinois outside of St. Louis, and there are easily hundreds of players in the greater St. Louis area. Out in the country with all these fucking red necks, it's really just me and 3 other people who live in different towns, which means we have to travel to help build or tear shit down. There were a lot of people playing in Tulsa and New Orleans when I lived there, too. After pokemon go's huge flop, some people moved over to ingress and managed to stick around.
