Hollow knight thread
what do I do with Weaver?
Hollow knight thread
what do I do with Weaver?
Who is Weaver? The vendor?
How do I reliably beat the third tier spider in The Beast's Den?
The Weaver Princess in her lair, she evades me
This map system is making me want to stop playing
>Can do the challenge in the mantis area, the mines or city of tears next
where is best to go
Come with me -
It's easy, you'll see.
>2d platformer
>Randomly loses like 30 frames
It's infuriating. How did they release this? I'm running a 980. Silky fuckin smooth, then half a second of drops.
Walk up to it, wait until it winds up, if you don't strike first, it has a heavy windup, attack, and dash away.
I'm also getting split-second drops on occasion. It's not that bad, but it's still annoying when it does come up.
Mostly in areas with lots of particles/mobs/mobs.
Mine isn't occurring with any particles or mobs, I'm just losing half a second. I'll be fighting something, the game will stop displaying what's going on, and half a second later I'll probably have taken damage.
Ah I see. They claimed optimization patch soon on Twitter the other day, which is why the Mac and Linux releases have been delayed as well.
>working on my own game right now
>very early stages
>the title and idea of my game is so fucking similar to this kikestarter garbage.
What the fuck.
>What the fuck
What was your game gonna be about?
>garbage
Except it's really good IMHO.
>There's only 3 Memory Bosses
Huh.
Is this game worth picking up right now or is it something I should wait for patches that fix bugs/glitches?
I tried turning vsync off and on and it happened anyway with both (1070). It really draws me out of the game.
I haven't noticed any bugs other than slight drops in frames for a second. Its noticeable but it doesn't happen too often
While it doesn't destroy the game, losing frames like this sucks
It happens all the fuckin time
It's kind of depressing because I've only played a few hours of the game but I think it's fantastic...only it runs like shit on my new PC that handles every other game with ease. Lots of stuttering.
Anyway I pirated it and think it's worth a purchase if they fix the issues. I hope they do, it seems way too good to miss out on for something like this.
Is there going to be some future content or is this the game's final form?
As it turns out, they added in 2 of the Stretch goals they didn't even reach, Colosseum of Fools and Abyss, and in return, the 2 other playable characters were delayed to compensate.
Is there a rough guide out presently?
A good deal more of my playtime than I'd like is spent on backtracking and prodding unmapped areas.
I just finished The Beast, have no map of jellyfish bubbleland and am struggling to navigate the likewise mapless city, both in order to chase down the others.
I'm honestly not going to say anything about it until I hold the rights to the concept and title and what not.
Good luck then, user.
Keep at it user-kun!
so this game leans more towards to the shovel-knight end of the worth-o'-meter than the #9 side, right?
Yes, it's fantastic.
More like Shallow Knight piece of shit SJW garbage.
Just got the dash ability. Not sure where I'm supposed to go now.
Nah, this game is in a league of it's own.
it's a shitposter doesn't know anything about videogames episode
Into the Jellyfish area, there was a branch downward early on in the Greenpath that leads to it. Then into the Queen's Station and on into Fungus.
SO are the white lady and the radiance related ?
The white lady seems to believe she is responsible for the corruption, and the wyrm strongly ressembles her. But there's so many links missing from my memories that I can't put them together. I wish NPCs had journal entries so there could be a brief description of each. I'm not even sure what part the white king played in the grand scheme of things, except coming up with the vessel thing.
I just beat the game
I got the ending where you become the new vessel
Are there other endings? Where's that super difficult place with the saws and shit? I don't think I found it
you seem pretty far ahead. i wanted to know what the kingsoul opens up. the charm reads that it opens a path to a birthplace, but i'm not sure where that birthplace is. do you happen to know?
You still got a long ways user
Is there a good end?
Go to the bottom of the abyss, at ground level of the big central well you should find what you're looking for
Well I did only have 79% completion, any tips on what to do next?
Find the fragments of the kingsoul
Unite the void
So what the fuck is that mask merchant in deepnest for ?
Yes, with a final boss that doesnt fuck around
Jesus fucking christ this game never ends, where should I start looking? I have seriously got no clue. i think the only area I don't have a map for is the Hive
Do you have the king crest ? If not, go look for this at Kingdom's Edge
Do you have a perfect dream nail ? (1500-1800 essence) Then go to Dark Basin and probe the white armor.
I really liked momodora 4 and shovel knight, is this for me?
I hit the white armor with my dream blade but nothing happened, what gives?
Thanks user, I'll check Kingdom's Edge
yes
Probably, yeah. Pirate it if $15 is too high for an "Eh, maybe I'll like it."
ye
There's a high likelihood that yes, depending on how much you enjoy a greater focus on exploration than combat compared to these two
You need to gather around 1500-1800 essence and talk to the seer at Resting Grounds, she'll upgrade your Dream Nail
You need an empowered Dream Blade to open powerful memories.
Go get more Essence.
Thanks anons, I guess I finally have to stop being a bitch and kill Failed Knight
Where was that other asshole, the one that looks like you and flies around? I bitched out of his dream fight as well
Dark basin, left of the bench
Why the fuck does this game have the Dark Souls lose-all-currency-when-you-die-and-only-one-chance-to-retrieve-it mechanic? I just lost more than a thousand souls or gold or whatever the fuck and that took me fucking forever to get. At least in Dark Souls the amount of souls you'd carry through a normal playthrough doesn't take you THAT long to get back if you lose them, but here most enemies only drop like three pieces at a time.
Fucking bullshit.
Thanks guys.
Didn't mean to bully hollow knight.
It actually looks really neat.
Down in the Windy Basin where you got Double Jump.
You guys are lifesavers, much appreciated
...
Money gets less tight the more you explore. Once you get the Mantis Claw, you can explore a huge portion of the map with ease and with that comes a large sum of Geo.
If you die with a lot of Geo on you, consider going to the Cavern of Regret up in Dirtmouth (It's that big door at the far end of town) and spending a Rancid Egg to have it teleported up there with no risk of you dying on the way to it.
You do need a basic Key to open it tho.
>how dare these video game threads take valuable board space from my LOL threads
Sheet, well guess ill get it then. Thanks guys
Game stutters way too often to be enjoyable. Have a 980, i5, ssd
Devs said there should be a patch tomorrow.
Game looks like 90% of the indie stuff released on steam nowadays
I can sell these traveler's journals and hollownest seals right?
they arent used for anything else?
also should I have not used the dream nail on the ghost in Dirtmouth? he only gave one essence so I kind of assumed you aren't supposed to, so I reloaded but he never came back.
Ghosts have no purpose except getting the nail
Minor Backer Ghosts give you 1 Essence, but you're gonna need EVERY DROP if you want 100%.
Literally every last Spirit will needs to be devoured.
Are items like the Hallownest Seal just for selling?
Yes. Their only purpose is for easy translation into large quantities of raw coinage.
>made on Unity
You sure essence factors into completion % ?
Yes.
All 2600 points of the shit.
Are there any missables in this game?
I got like 2536 or some such and still got the achievement + finished the questline of the shaman
I have a hard time believing I'd have a higher % if I had 2600
user I don't think we're talking about the same game if you haven't seen any bugs.
Huh. I guess I'm just autistic then.
Where's that maniac with the shield that kept talking about finding the colosseum ? I found him there, but after I finished the second trial he just sort of disappeared.
where is the crystal land map?
>just found the cartographer in fog canyon
FUCKING YES
I knew there was no way there was no map for that area
This game looks pretty and the gameplay tight, but I've the policy of never paying full price if the game is too short, and this looks like only 3 or 4 hours long at best. Am I wrong about the duration or does this have high replayability?
No wonder it runs like shit for such a simple game.
Just finished the Soul Sanctum, dunno how to navigate to the BBEG still in the City of Tears.
Any hot tips?
It should say something that the speedrun achievement is for finishing the game under 5 hours
The game is easily 20+ hours for a first playthrough, and there's free dlc down the line with a new playable character if you're into that, as well as an ironman mode
It's literally 30 hours long and any amount of research would've given you this answer you shit disturber
He's a bit of a ways in. Aim to go up and left.
Leth, one of the Developers claimed the game took him 36 hours to beat or something like that.
I believe I'm ~40% done.
anybody? the mine thing? i feel like i've almost beat it.
Nice. Picked up then.
Enjoy user
before or after this part with the lazer bugs?
You can't really get to him before getting more upgrades, try to go to the crystal caves east of the Crossroads
Tip for early game players. There's a decent farming spot in the Fungal Wastes where you can farm a giant mushroom man (forgot the official name) for 45 geos a kill. It's attacks are incredibly easy to avoid and it's right next to room transition so you can keep killing it over and over again quickly.
>GOD
>tamer
FUCK
Took me 24 hours for the "bad end" 59% completion.
There's also the huge guy right before False Knight who gives 45 Geo as well and there's a Bench one level below him for easy respawns.
Here is most of my overall map. What areas would you anons suggest I check out?
>have Dash/Claw/Dive
>opened Royal Waterways but didn't delve too far
I know I can 'start'(?) Crystal Peaks with the Dive entrance in that mine, I guess, and I think I can possibly find an entrance to Queen's Gardens. I still have Waterways and Deepnest to go through. Also where the fuck is the cartographer for Fog Canyon?
Go do the crystal caves is my advice
Dont bother with fog canyon's map for now, you can't access it
its a late game unlock, don't worry about it for now, fog canyon has nothing for you yet anyway.
Alright alright. Thanks doods.
