Why are used game discs always covered in scratches? Does anyone take care of their own shit anymore?
Why are used game discs always covered in scratches? Does anyone take care of their own shit anymore?
Because, generally speaking, the kind of people who take good care of their shit are the kind of people who KEEP their shit
I've only ever bought 2 used games and the discs were as new. Probably only because they were story games though and on blu ray which I think has a harder coating than dvd/cd from memory.
We live in a throw away society so why should anyone take care of anything.
If it's broken, throw it away and get a new one.
The good quality used stuff gets bought up faster and you get left with the junk that most people don't want to touch.
Disgusting. Instead of throwing them away they should donate all the scratched discs to starving African children.
I intentionally damage them as much as possible before a sell them back to try to destroy the used game industry and fuck over people like you.
Right.
Just tell them all the blood they're shitting out is the Devil or their sins or something.
I never understood how people managed to scratch discs to the point where they become unreadable / cause read errors.
Why the hell do you nerds even buy discs, ever?
Just get it off Steam or GOG.
I like the boxes
Americans put less value on games compared to japs. Jap used games are pristine.
I bought a copy of Hitman on the ps2 used recently. Had a bunch of scratches on it and wouldn't play.
Decided to take a risk, so I wipped toothpaste all over it and wiped it of with a wet cloth.
Works fine now.
>Go over to cousin's house as a kid
>He's always got his PS1 CDs haphazardly scattered all over the place outside of their cases.
>go to buy used console on amazon/ebay
>always ALWAYS missing controllers/adapters/the most basic shit
and you can't say it's because they're keeping it, because I see it for every console ever.
I get GCN controllers for wii or whatever, but this... I don't understand it. it's like selling a car without the steering wheel.
Did the same thing with a Lost Odyssey disc, Microsoft fucked up a packaging the game and the fourth disc had a high chance of being damaged since it was in a paper sleeve and the glue used to hold it shut would seep through the paper and damage the disc.
Took me around 5 install attempts for it to complete and the entire box smells like mint now.
horrible habits by shitty people
They leave their discs lying around no the floor without putting it back into the case. Eventually shit happens.
It's usually for the best
bought an ancient ps2 (fat) with a bunch of included controllers and they were all filled with gunk and the analog sticks had this sticky residue on them that wouldn't come off no matter what cleaning agent I used, out of the 4 maybe one was in an acceptable state
>work at a used game store
>trailer trash brings in a dirty rucksack full of 360 games
>every single one of them is scratched to shit
>"buht they wark jus fahhhn, jus gimme mah muhney"
>have to spend 30 minutes explaining that nobody is going to buy a disc that's scratched to shit
did these actually work
i remember having a fucked up disc and trying to use it and all that happened is it completely destroyed the entire disc until it looked like it had been raped with sandpaper
No they never worked.
I always take my disks to get resurfaced at a pawn shop.
>did these actually work
usually worked well enough to get a disk to play once well enough to rip it to digital
snake oil
just a glorified scrubber
i fell for this jew trick when i was a kid
The original disc doctor worked great, all the subsequent knock offs and iterations, not so much.
I bought a disc cleaning set when I was a kid. It snapped my copy of San Andreas in half.
I hate discs because even if I take care of them they end up with small scratches that may not affect the game play but it it triggers my autism
