Pic related or something similar was your first game console?
Then you are welcome in this thread.
Since when are you stuck on Sup Forums?
30+ oldfag thread
I've been on Sup Forums since the early days. Only jumped over to Sup Forums in the last month as I have had time to play games again.
You know you can't leave?
Yeah, I have made a lot of mistakes. Maybe I will get banned again and have nowhere to go. That would be the best thing I think.
But, here I am. There is too much kvetching here but sometimes I hear about games I wouldn't otherwise, which is really my goal.
My dad bought it for himself when I was 3 but quickly had no time to play, then never played any games ever again. I'm starting to understand why even though I don't have kids.
>25
>first console is NES
Since last year or year before I forgot. I was refugee from negaf.
2006.
I've seen the downward spiral of this place and let me tell you, it gets worse in here every day.
35 fag here, my first console was the og nes, I used to run home everyday after school to play super mario over and over
It's interesting. I see people make comments like this, about how they have less time for gaming, but I have found that I have way more ever since I finished school. Now that I am working again I have time and money. I really missed gaming.
I was thinking about finding my old hardware and getting one of those flash carts for the NES SNES and Genesis.
I'm 24 and my first gaming platform was an original Game Boy.
Are you a wizard?
I feel like all the best posters that were here 10+ years ago are long gone. I imagine they all ended up at the same magical website and that I was one of the few that just didn't catch on to where they went...
I don't really have a lack of time as much as a desire to spend my time on other things, like getting ready to build an apartment addition onto my house, exciting stuff picking out all the little design features and shit. Gonna have a nice ass backsplash in the kitchen.
Just more stuff in general to do now. I guess when I was a kid I didn't lack time to play either, I just didn't have anything else to do really.
I'm 24, but my first console and handheld was a NES and a Game Boy respectively.
Though they were essentially hand-me-downs. Even to this day I'm more of a retrofag and prefer the NES, SNES, and even TurboGrafx games to N64 and older.
I'm selling my original gameboy right now. About $80 USD
I feel like some of it is just us. Back when I first came here in 2004 or so I went to Sup Forums and everyone was hyper acerbic and angry about everything. And I see that same stuff now and just get less from it. I think as I socialized more in real life I started to realize how stupid a lot of people here are.
>wageslaving 9-5
>fighting traffic 2-3hrs a day
>gym 2hrs a day
>hanging out with bros
I only have actual playing time on weekend. Apart from that, playing 3ds 30mins before sleeping. Now I understand why japs love handheld so much.
The crowd here has really changed. The newfags of them were more cordial and adhered to the "lurk moar" rule.
New posters nowadays just parrot everything they hear and honestly believe in the "we have video games" meme that we used to say as a joke.
Everyone now wants every game to fail. Every new console to crash. You can't be excited for a game without being a shill or voice an opinion against a game without being called a nintoddler or a sonygger. Xbox has nothing going for them so xbox owners don't even bother posting anymore, not even to incite console wars.
Shit, you're probably right. That's even worse, at least there was hope with my scenari.
It was the N64. But I ended up with the original gameboy and a box full of carts as a hand me down not too long after.
My friend had a SNES and my other friend's brother has a genesis so i got to play a bit of those as well.
That I understand. And I tend to go in waves, I will get really into music for awhile and when my interests wain I switch over to games, or comics and cartoons. I tend to have a rotation I go through of my alone time hobbies.
Im 26 and this was the first thing my 28 brother got followed by an n64.
Oh man you described me to a T there, I do the same type of rotation. On a game binge at the moment, don't know what will be next in the cycle, works randomly to a point but it is always the same 5-6 things every year.
The commute is something I fear the most. I will be moving to Seattle soon for a job and the traffic is so bad there. The gym is probably a good thing, but I am a fat sack of shit largely.
Also, I don't know how common this is, but as I have gotten older I sleep less and less.
General threads was the the true deathblow. It made an horrible split on Sup Forums and gave people a reason to bitch when a popular game gets a lot of threads. Elsewhere it confines people to just a few threads on Sup Forums(sharethreads are trash compared to the mediafire days) and has all but neutered Sup Forums.
I think it's healthy. I always see these posts here, "No games excite me anymore. I'm not having fun. I don't like anything." I always tell them to just go do something else. There's lots of stuff to do in this world, just because you played games before doesn't mean that has to be your entire identity.
What's a good place to download comics and some comics you recommend? I'm not into capes, more into Adrian tomine, Charles burns, Daniel clowes.
Exactly the same for me. Currently in a video game phase after a while of manga
>I have gotten older I sleep less and less
I should be asleep right now, my gf is passed the fuck out already since an hour after watching the Oscars. I don't know what keeps me awake more these days, constantly worrying or if I'm a fucking idiot and eat way too close to bedtime when I get home late from work.
Commodore 64
been here since 2008 I think. I found out about it from fark
No one told me your 30s would be so depressing
Can't eat too late either. I'm off tomorrow thankfully, but my fatass decided to eat a cheese and meat plate at the restaurant and can't sleep shit. Thank God I have some Expanse to watch. Might play mgsv in a bit too
So, I meant that I sleep less in that I just wake up after 5 hours or so and feel rested. I do recommend relaxing a bit before going to bed. If you're really finding you can't sleep at all, and it's affecting you negatively, go see a doctor.
I just start regular on the gym for around 4 months. I'm also a fat sack of shit, a manlet to boot. But fuck that, just having some physical activity is better.
I noticed I sleep in regular 5 hrs a day.
My hair is receding, is this because lack of sleep?
hello
No idea about that. If it gets bad, but you get in good shape just shave it off. Chrome dome works with in shape guys
Honestly I haven't read anything in awhile and it's mostly capeshit as well inter-spliced with Gaimen and the like. I would suggest checking out The Way of Kings if you're into fantasy, listening to the second book on audible right now, really like it.
I've seen the first couple episodes so far? Does it pick up pretty well then? Might pass out watching some storyteller because the Oscars reminded John Hurt is dead.
I'm terrible at unwinding, been a bit wound up lately. It was my Friday yesterday though so tonight will be a worry free sleep.
33 here. My earliest memories are playing Pitfall on what I'm pretty sure was my dad's girlfriend's brother's Atari 5200 (I remember the controller having the numeric touchpad), though I had no idea what I was doing. The first console I ever actually owned was a NES, when I got the SMB/Duck Hunt set, along with Mega Man 2 and Ducktales for Christmas.
Are you saying your 30s are depressing or are you commenting on the posts here?
Shit alright. Fantasy is OK. More into sci-fi. Also doing audio books for the drive to and from work.
The shows great so far really enjoying it. None of that corny Syfy shit I used to see character development is great and so is the story. Never read the books so I'm going in blind
>hello
Don't you mean herro?
>No one told me your 30s would be so depressing
>teenager in the 90s
>cold war ended
>tech advances at light speed
>the best games of all times get released, classics still played today
>everyone super optimistic
>at the turn of the century you are going to have the best life of all generations, you lucky bastard!
best time line
>9/11 hits
>entire western world turns into a dystopian shithole
>2007 follows
>facebook, twatter, leddit
Where did everything go so wrong?
My 30s. This thread is actually pretty good, despite how sad it is
...
I started coming here late 2006. I feel like the jokes have gone downhill, but I'm still hopeful.
i still find time to play, probably because i don't go to gym. Different taste, probably
All I can suggest is don't be unwilling to strike out and try something new. It's hard, but there is value in that. You're likely not even halfway done with life. Might as well try to do something.
Playing Mortal Kombat on floppy disc when it was first released on this beast. Load times were hilarious.
>Also doing audio books for the drive to and from work
Me too, listened to like one book every month or two depending on its length. Current book is 48 hours about, I'm thinking I'll finish it after about two months on the whole. Might listen to a bit of nonfiction next, was reading Adrian Goldsworthy's Roman history books for a bit before this, might pick up his Pax Romana one next. Way of Kings is good, really good fucking world building and pulling out the rug from underneath you at some point after lulling you into a false sense of security. Apparently the series will be ten books, first two are out right now with the third one out this November. Apparently there's a novella out as well, but I haven't got to it yet.
Gonna dig back into The Expanse then, sounds solid from everything I've heard.
One of the best EDs.

I've only been on Sup Forums since last year. I'm an old newfag.
Inclusiveness.
What are some good space drama books, comics, movies or games worth playing?
34 here. First console was Intellivision. Then 2600 and NES.
What are my fellow oldfags playing these days? What are your all-time favorite games?
29. NES. SMB+Duck Hunt. 2007 Sup Forums and Sup Forums was my first experience with this site. Good times.
>space drama
If you haven't watched it, Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's more than just memes, but there are a lot of the best reaction pictures in the show.
33 here. My first console was a NES but that was rather meh. What really got me into gaming was the SNES.
A Link to the Past
Secret of Mana
Donkey Kong Country
The holy trifecta that blew my 10/11 year old mind.
>mfw I'm 19 but my first console was a snes
FF7 and PS4.
I've always had a PlayStation since my NES and Mega Drive - didn't get a SNES at the time. Only other console I've liked aside from those is an N64.
37 here. First system was a c64. I wanted an NES or Master System so bad but my parents refused to get me one. I eventually got a SNES in 1993 after playing c64 for about 10 years... fuck me it was mind blowing.
Started coming here maybe about 2005 or so.
Currently playing Dark Souls 3 and the first Shining Force on megadrive.
Beyond that it's one of the best written shows ever created.
That was my first game console and I'm 21
31 here, first console was an atari 2600 and then a NES. I lurk most of the time keeping an eye out for threads discussing games I've played. No interest in most of the dumb shit that gets posted here. Fun fact, I'm the fag that posts his deagle picture in the rare Parasite Eve threads. Fucking love this gun.
31 here, first console was the NES.
My earliest gaming memories I have are of playing Mega Man 2 and I guess one of the Super Mario Bros. games. I don't know what the first game I ever played was.
What boards did you use before?
All-time is difficult to say as I am rarely play one game repeatedly.
From NES era SMB like normal people.
SNES era SMW and Rockman (forgot the number).
PSX perhaps FF8 fuck you I like it.
PC AoE2 and Civ5.
DS is RF3 perhaps.
3DS is RF4, have soft spot on that kind of game.
I have 360 which ylod after a year, not remember much but might be vesperia. Skipped ps2/3/4, just lately got used ps3, not sure what to do with it.
Wasn't my first. It was my older brother's first. Used to watch him play Metroid 2 on it all the time. Our first console was a NES with Dunk Hunt/Mario 2 in 1 cartridge
>28
>take off a few years and switch it with Sup Forums and you have me
I always feel like I'm just a few ticks off from really belonging anywhere and too poorfag to pick up the slack
30 in April
My first console was a sega master system with in-built alex the kid.
Not seeing corporations and govts create bots that act like humans

It's really not terrible here in Seattle depending on where you live and where you work. I have a house outside the city and it's usually only 30-45 minutes into downtown on most days via the I90.
Is 29 allowed? I've been here since 2006. My family was a bit poor and behind so my first console was a hand-me-down 2600. Had an IBM Tandy computer and Texas Instruments TI-99A as well. Parents finally bought the NES at a garage sale and I loved that damn console.
I actually hooked up my original Xbox tonight. Started playing Panzer Dragoon Orta. There are too many games that I've enjoyed but I tend to gravitate toward Sega. Ikaruga and Streets of Rage 2 are definitely in my top five.
I didn't have a console until I was a man. We were poor and stuff.
We had a computer tho I was allowed to play on sometimes.
HOW MANY OF YOU GUYS POST ON /vr/?
I lurk, only occasionally post though.
That old brick gameboy was sold up until the gameboy color came out...1998?
33. TMNT Nes bundle. I've been here since launch.
Lurk mostly, sometimes I don't feel quite informed enough about the consoles I played as a kid since I didn't start doing research as much till I got a bit older.
All of my classmates were Sega master race, Nintendofags would get bullied
33 and still living with parents here.
First console was a PC.
32
Been here since i was 25, part of me thinks it's just because I'm waiting for Sup Forums to actually fucking do something again other than the "Sink or Shill" mentality that it's developed today.
How? Did you leave and come back?
Moved in for about 7 years in my 20s, then moved back at 30,.because they needed help with their mortgage.
My parents had enough of me by the time i was 16, i moved back in a couple of times but it never lasted longer than 6 months before i needed to find my own place again.
Every game on this handheld has aged like milk.
...
Anyone married with kids?
Who the fuck can afford to NOT live with their parents anymore?
>33 and still living with parents here.
Are you at least NEET and play vidya 24/7?
>exciting stuff picking out all the little design features and shit. Gonna have a nice ass backsplash in the kitchen.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic.
I am legitimately excited.
I can't think of a worse fate, i value my free time to much, and women aren't worth it in the long run. i had my fun during teenage years and early twenty now i am not interested in the slightest, casual relationships no strings attached master race.
Going to die alone aren't i?
I started off with this sick tv with built in pong clone youtube.com
There was an Atari 2600, not 100% sure when we got that. My grandfather was really into tech and alwys let me screw about on his computer. Some time in 91 we got a Master System 2, and the year after a relatively powerful 386 PC.
All the other kids in the street/my cousins had Amigas, NESs, SNESs and Mega Drives too, so I got to experience a bit of everything, despite my family being poorfags.
Had a long ass stretch of not getting anything else until a N64 for christmas one year (two years after all my friends had gotten one)
I've convinced my gf I don't want kids or to get married. Told her she can split as soon as doubt hits her, but my mind is set and unchangeable.
Depends where you live and line of business. Working in Miami in hospitality is the best choice to have continuous job options
I was for a while because I had a decent amount of money put away. Now I work a 4 day week job.
Man, I just can't get even the slightest bit interested in things like backsplashes.
I know how you feel. My whole career plan turned to shit.
Well 4 days a week is not too bad.
>That was my first game console and I'm 21
You weren't born during the entire Brickboy lifecycle.
When I give a NES to a kid in 2017 he doesn't become an oldfag.
>Man, I just can't get even the slightest bit interested in things like backsplashes.
Gotta see it as a piece of the larger whole. every detail shapes the space you live in and the mood it evokes. Like colors or otherwise, they can make that square feel bigger or smaller than it actually is.
Knocked up my gf. I'll be a dad in September.
It has never been in my plans and my parents know that. Thank God my siblings gave them grand kids though.
My friends that did get married and had kids usually got divorced. The one still tied down is miserable and despite us helping him out or trying to keep him positive he looks like he wants to eat a bullet every time he talks about going back home to his wife. Pretty sure they're going to split soon.
>HOW MANY OF YOU GUYS POST ON /vr/?
OP here. I never post on /vr/.
I think most of /vr/'s audience is just kids interested in playing with old stuff, not guys who were around when Brickboy was still a next-gen handheld.
37 here. Hopefully never. Always rubber, never raw dog.
