Why do people skip tutorials?
Why do people skip tutorials?

They are for casuals.
They take up time NOT killing things
So they can whine later about how unintuitive the controls are.
I don't need a tutorial to tell me to press A to jump, or RT to fire my gun.
>Pressing A to jump instead of interact
>Year of our Lord 2017
I HATE IT
Adhd
it's 2017, they should finally have a choice for basic and advanced tutorial so you can skip stupid shit like basic movement and jumping and just give a quick rundown of the actual helpful info like some certain button combination to do some specific thing and whatever is hidden behind multiple menu options
this should be a fucking standard by now
extensive manuals should also be in the game, within the game menus
Because game will still bombard you with pop-ups on how to play. And games are purposefully designed to be intuitively understood these days unless it's your very first game or something.
>trusting tutorials
>ever
Press A to jump.
WOAH DUDE I COULDNT HAVE FIGURED THAT OUT MYSELF
THIS SURE DOESNT FEEL LIKE A WASTE OF MY FUCKING TIME
>WASD to move around
oh my god
>Don't play tutorial.
>Woooooooooooooow how was I supposed to know I had to push that button to do this.
>Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow how was I supposed to know about that gameplay mechanic.
>"Game is shit, never explains anything"
>5 seconds is wasting time
Go eat your ritalin.
MOVE YOUR MOUSE TO THE LEFT TO LOOK LEFT
MOVE YOUR MOUSE TO THE RIGHT TO LOOK RIGHT
GOOD
I don't know why I watched that. I just got REALLY annoyed.
>games that force you play these shit tutorials
Because I'm a pro gamer, I don't need tutorials.
Remember reading game manual while it's installing?
>not looking at the picture slides as it installs
>MOVE YOUR MOUSE LEFT TO LOOK LEFT
>look in all directions
>GOOD MOVE YOUR MOUSE RIGHT TO LOOK RIGHT
hmm
That sweet smell of a freshly unsealed game
80 move series with explanations like this is a jump. you go over obstacles is NOT 5 seconds. and by the 30th game you really dont need devs to hold your special hand
I don't need my hand held, I'm over 30.
So good
>extensive manuals
there is a reason why manuals don't exist anymore
When you've been playing vidya for 15+ years you basically can figure out how it works 9/10 times
Okay, so there's a group that doesn't really need tutorials, given that the game is simple enough for them to understand.
Now, why do people that already have troubles moving in a 3D space skip tutorials and proceed to fail even the simplest of tasks before blaming the game for everything?
Back in the days manuals also included artbook and some lore or obscure hints.
This video should basically be titled "Autistic faggot has a bitchfit"
>included artbook and some lore or obscure hints
which can easily be added to game itself
unlockable art galleries and an ingame archive for found story/lore related text or audio are a thing
I love tutorials. Especially dedicated ones. I palyed the Half Life hazard course so many times.
Because games are a toy and normies don't care to learn about toys
because of filthy anime posters
>tutorial have you locked in a room
>you can only do the things the tutorial tells you
>"press jump to jump"
>or "press xbox button to jump, we are not telling you the kb+m controllers"
there are some good tutorials but most are just shit
...
>>"press the jump button to jump"
you have to be a special kind of retard to design this and think "YEAH
THAT'S GOOD
THAT WORKS"
Here's a better question, why do games insist you do a tutorial? Why can't more games ask if you'd like to do the tutorial or, if forced into the opening chain of events, ask if you want tutorial messages showing up? Off the top of my head I know No More Heroes and DMC4 do the former, and I know some games do the latter but I can't think of any at the moment.
because most of the time they tutorialize thing that are fucking obvious in the first place
>press A to jump
>press B to shoot
>shoot enemy to kill them
