I went to try it at an event and the d-pad is RIDICULOUSLY stiff. Like it will cut your thumb.
I actually found the joycon's "d-pad" to be better. It's kind of insane.
A shame because the pro controller was really nice to hold, a great feel to it.

Fuck off Sonygger
I'm sure the Switch's d-pads are way better than the abominations in the PS4 controller
It's not.
It's like pressing a brick in. I tried it already.
Joycon's buttons are better.
>Nintendo fucking up d-pad
I highly doubt that. And don't point to the GC d-pad. Obviously this one is adequately sized as it's actually intended for frequent use.
It has happened before, the ds lite had a bad d-pad
>Nintendo never had a bad d-pad, and dont point me to the time Nintendo had a bad d-pad
Wow I love Nintendo's fanbase
>"Hey guys here my personal critique on this Nintendo product"
>"FUCK OFF SONYGGER! NINTENDO IS PERFECT IN EVERYONE WAY! EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NO EVIDENCE FROM YOUR POST THAT YOU OWN A PLAYSTATION, I FEEL SMARTER WHEN'S I CALL YOU OUT LIKE THIS!"
I tried it at the event. It's seriously hard to press in a direction.
Maybe that will get better after years of use. But they fucked it up.
They made the controller feel better to hold than an x1 pad, but the d-pad is trash.
No it didn't, you fuck-knuckle
I don't doubt it.
Honestly, I think the only company to excel at making d-pads is SEGA. The Genesis and Saturn d-pads were far and away better than their nintendo counterparts and certainly better than the uncomfortable shit sony or microsoft have for theirs.
On the plus side, the joycons have nice analogues, nice squishy small buttons for quick presses.
this
what the fuck it your problem i dont like sony too and if something is wrong about nintendo or sony I'll point it out. Are you still gonna call me a Sonygger?
God damn it, Nintendo was my last bastion for a good d-pad. There's really no way to use a WiiU pro controller with this thing?
Yeah it did, there is a reason why they completely changed it back to something more similar to the original DS for the DSi, it was super uncomfortable
This a Sony shill thread. Please report and move on.
>nintendo fans falseflagging as sony fans falseflagging as nintendo fans
...
You're lying, I went to an event on the 25th and the D-pad was good, it's not stiff, the only weird thing about it is that you can push the whole thing down at once, there isn't a hinge underneath it, but it still works well
We're not talking about small d-pads, but d-pads that don't function properly regardless of their size, retard.
No, you're lying.
>mankind somehow lost the ability to make a decent d-pad
Nintoddlers are mentally ill. You're worse than Sup Forumstards.
Am i?
you got to keep yours? I had to give mine :/
I dunno how you don't think it was stiff, it was so damn hard to push in. I went back and forth testing the joycon and the pro and was just shocked the d-pad was like that, and found the joycons to not be that bad.
They will patch it
My friend arrived late and he forgot about it so he gave it to me after
Maybe my controller had a "defective" dpad, but it's was kind of squishy, like the face buttons
I thought the Joy-Cons were fine, but they felt a bit too close together in the grip
maybe yours had been used a few times for the event and mine was just out of the box or something.
>having lady hands
I went on the Saturday so they had been used on Friday, so that might have been why
I was on a friday. at least it doesn't sound like they take long to break in. It was so harsh to use.
>caring about Dpads
No good games use Dpads. And if they do, they only use it as an extra 4 buttons.
So you might as well just have an extra 4 buttons like the left JoyCon does, then.
>Implying all 2D games are bad
>Cut your thumb
What. Did someone whittle the one you used?
Vita has the best D-pad, you can't prove me wrong.
I played Shovel Knight with the pro controller, I didn't notice anything wrong with the D pad, I think it was about the same as the Wii U Pro Controller. I thought the controller was a bit heavier than what I'm used too though.
I love it but I feel like I could break it if I'm rough with it.
I was trying to test a hadouken and with the stiffness it made it actually painful lol
>Playing Street fighter at the London Switch event
Why must you tell lies like this
Does it feel the same as the 3ds dpad or worst? Because they seem to be using the same shit on all their consoles
So is the dpad on the left joycon made of 4- seperate buttons? I was under the impression it was a split d-pad
There isn't a hinge underneath and it doesn't click like the 3ds one does. I didn't have a problem with the Dpad like op had though, it was kind of squishy like the face buttons
He was obviously testing the controller by doing the combo. Never said he was playing SF
I didn't say I was playing street fighter, I was testing out hadouken input.
It's just 4 face buttons like the abxy buttons on the right one, atleast that's what it felt like
>worse than microsoft's sorry excuse for dpads used to be
>worst than LITERALLY JUST BUTTONS
>worse than poorly manufactured bootleg consoles dpads
you're either underage or shitposting
Hmmm can sorta feel what you mean since my slutty hands has been touching a lot of dpads over the years.
Fair enough
Just to ask OP, what did you think of the event in general?
t. assmad sega fanboy
the only objectively good dpad sega ever did was for the Nomad of all things.
Easy to adept or a complete bitch to get use to and make it work as the vanilla dpad? Also i think somebody could come up with some sort of tight rubber thing to make it feel lore like a proper dpad
I liked it. Had the main games that you wanted to see, and some extras - like they had set areas for the main 1,2 switch games you wanted to test out - the marble one for hd rumble and the wild west one. Arms was there. 4v4 splatoon 2, MK8D in a circle playing against each other (I won even after blue shell :)), and zelda tickets - but you only got like 10 minutes with that.
I left after an hour, 2 hour event, but I got to try what I wanted, no problem.
Dim lighting, some guy walking around dressed like link (blue tunic and long hair tied up).
People were nice, they let you test things out - I tried to test the range of the joycon and they let me (couldn't get it to desync - I think that's because they were separate from the switch which was in a glass box, so it may only apply when you remove joycons from the system and they stay in low power mode, but not sure).
It felt ok, but it's still odd, I think it's serviceable at the very least, I wish the had stuck with a Nintendo D-pad, but for the sake of having 2 controllers they did not
It took me the full 2 hours to play everything, even though I played BotW at 10:00
i refuse to believe that any controller has worse dpad than xbox360
I skipped snipper clips and arms, but I did watch them get played.
The queues were short for me.
This is why i hate pointless gimmick. Really fucks with some shit expecially when Nintendo doesn't even have a good track record with their dpads to begin with
Fair enough, what day did you go? I went on Saturday which was going to be the busiest day from the start
Hmm, I wonder who could be behind this thread? Couldn't possibly be the same guy that made
Give it up you autist. At least these jackasses had been there to test it while you are here shitposting going full defense on Nintendo
Ah yeah, I went on a friday at 3pm, wasn't bad at all. You could probably have gone round some games a few times.
I've also tried it
It's clicky
But not stiff
No extra force is needed in pressing, holding, or switching from down to right or anything
It was never used as a secondary or main form of movement in any game
They placed it in such a way that it would be best used for menus taunts and small stuff
lmao this post
>Nintendo fucking up d-pad
Like they did with the N64, GBA and GC?
I like my Vita's D-Pad, clicks just rights, but somehow I perform worse at certain games than with other D-Pads, I tried playing Guilty Gear with it and I couldn't even do some inputs most of the times when I would have no problems with even a PSP D-Pad.
