6 follows on from 5. The other games are fairly irrelevant if you know the newcomers introduced in 4 and 5.

Did anyone make some sort of summary of the other games for those who haven't played them? I don't have a PS3 / PS2 (not anymore at least) so I don't know what happens in any of the installments.

Why limit yourself to a summary that you'll undoubtedly forget? Just watch a walkthrough on Youtube but you're missing alot. If you have the funds, just pick up a jailbroken PS3 and pirate all the games.

You can play Kiwami which is a re-make of 1. Then you can emulate 2 on PC.
Afterwards either buy a used PS3 or watch playthroughs. I recommend the former if you don't mind spending.

Bought Yakuza 0 from Amazon UK, was a little cheaper there, saved around 10 bucks even after shipping. Pretty neat for a relatively new game, though I'm used to different prices from PC. Then again, that's currently changing, too.

Really wish I'd bought 4 and 5 during Christmas season, when they were on sale. Now I'm almost through 4 and can't bring myself to wait with 5 until there's perhaps another sale on. It hurts.

What's everyone's thoughts on Dead Souls? I looked up gameplay for it, but the shooting looks kinda boring/less interesting than it had just been a big punch up.

Varies. Some love the playable Majima and Ryuji, some hate how they implemented shooting mechanics in a series centered around fistfighting

FUG I forgot to return to the office after beating him, got too caught up in fighting Mr.Shakedown for dosh to buy the shops that it completely slipped my mind to return.

How do you unlock the Mad Dog and Dragon of Dojima styles?

Finish real estate for Dragon of Dojima and the cabaret club for Mad Dog of Shimano.

Just started Yakuza after I finished 0, feels weird as fuck knowing the events that happened before this game.

Why not just play 2 and wait for Kiwami?

Nah, not really. It's just time consuming more than anything. Real Estate is pretty damn boring and takes forever, while the Cabaret Club is a lot of fun and goes by much quicker. Only thing I'd say is hard are the club battles against other clubs if you're not prepared.

They're tedious if anything. The only hard parts are Kiryu's minigames against the kings (but you don't really need to beat them to get the percentage), maybe the fights, and Club Moon.

Any know what the substory near the grand is? There's a guy with a bag standing there but I can't talk to him. And the encounter finder says theres a substory there

Well yeah, considering a remake for 1 is coming out soon, you might aswell move onto 2. The qualms I have with Kiwami is that it absolutely ruins the music from 1 and is wayyyyy too similar to 0, you can tell it was a copy paste job. If you're a newcomer then just wait for Kiwami.

If you can't talk to him now you're probably just to early in the game, you can talk to him later.

Kiwami is fine. People who say Kiwami sucks are only pissed that the music is different from the original and of the Majima Everywhere system (which is optional).
It's a solid re-make, although not as much content-wise as Zero,

Yakuza 0 is my first Yakuza game, is it reasonable to start playing Yakuza 1 after I finish it?

If you like a dubbed game, then yeah do it.
Keep in mind that Kiwami (Y1 re-make) is coming out soon, if you want to wait for that instead.

A remake is coming out soon, but if you want you can move on to 1 now.

Yes absolutely. You can wait for the remake coming out in summer using the 0 engine or get started with the PS2 version if you can emulate it.
