What's the point of the Scorpio?

It is basically supposed to be a an Xbox one that does 4k, has HDR, and can do VR. So if you are interested in better actual games and aren't only interested in graphics, this seems like a dud, which is disappointing because with all the power they are supposedly packing on it they could make better and bigger games that have better AI and scripting, you know three things that actually change how you play.

The One S has HDR and 4K... the Scorpio is a completely new thing.

but I know that, when I said 4k I mean the 4k gaming. I just find it disappointing that such a powerful machine is being held back by the Xbone.

Is there any leaked info about the scorpio? I own all the consoles, but I haven't used my XBone in over a year. What exactly is it supposed to be?

>Xbox Scorpio: 8-core, unkown clock speed

>Xbox Scorpio: 6 TFLOPS, 320GBGB/s, unknown amount and type

basically a console with a 1070, tho depending on what else gets revealed, it could lean more towards the 1080

It's a console that actually has the power to play video games like a PC

do normies even bother with xbox? I almost forget it exists since its hardly ever talked about on this board.

>it could lean more towards the 1080
Nah

but it's all wasted on graphics, specially because the games must be playable on the Xbone, like who thought this was a good idea?

Most games on the console are built around graphics like battlefield

These games benefit massively from graphics

If it improves on X360 emulation I will consider it for playing legacy games

I'm just wondering about the price. The earliest they'll probably reveal that is E3 in June.

That means nothing user.

Except it's not being held back by the xbox one s just like how the ps4 pro isn't held back by the regular ps4. The Scorpio versions will get extra graphical features just like the pro. I don't know why idiot's think the Scorpio games will just be xbox one s games with no improvements and with the res changed to 4k in a fucking config file on notepad.

>nah

what if the cores are overclocked?

what if it has more than 8 GB of GDDR5?

no one will develop for scorpio exclusively after xbone fiasco

Nobody is talking about developing exclusively for the Scorpio you dunce

Because they keep mentioning how is going to stay faithful to the xbox one (no s there) and how games will be playable there too, and honestly the XBS is nothing to write home about either if you don't care about graphics.

...

and that's the problem, can you imagine how much better games would be if they don't aren't held back by the piss poor specs of the Xbone?

bigger and better open world games and platformers, better AI., etc.

Most devs are lazy and will just use the vanilla consoles as the base version of the game. It's been happening quite a bit with the early PS4 Pro patched games too.

It's going to bring og xbox emulation too apparently. I can't wait. I'm glad I waited it out instead of buying a pro on Christmas. The Scorpio is looking better by the week.

How much do you think it will be priced at? And how much are you willing to pay for it?

People said the same about the pro but as we all know now the pro can barely even run base ps4 games at 4k30 so where they got the idea of having massive open world games with next gen AI and physics + 4k30 all stable is a mystery.

550 would be a no brainer if it comes with in-built BC for OG and 360 games.

You can take a game that runs on xbone and pump up AA, AF, view distance, foliage, lighting, etc and get some pretty graphics. Tesselation and higher framerates would be nice too.

I bought a phat ps3 back in the day for 599 so that would be my upper limit. I'm expecting it to drop around the $450 mark though. I honestly don't mind paying more for a good experience. The Xbox and ps4 are cheap but performance is dreadful most of the time.

that's the thing, I don't care about 4k, not saying I wouldn't take it if I had it, but it shouldn't be a priority, like how many people with 70" 4k tvs do you people know because I know exactly 0, so it would be nice if the console ran games set 4k, but it would be even better if it ran games at native 1080p and actual next gen AI. and physics

making money and prolonging the generation. It's big saving not to have to design and market a new console. Not to mention having to produce games for it.

both the PS4p and Xboxs are nowhere near cutting edge but possibly old users will by them, new users will buy them or buy the old consoles and then trade up after they've invested in a few games.

Tell that to sony too then.

My parents got a 4K TV back over black Friday. So that's 1

Were't they shitposting on Twitter a few months ago about the PS4 pRO using checkerboard rendering and then recently said "W-Well actually some of the titles on the Scorpio will be upscaled to 4K"

Basically it doesn't matter because there's literally nothing on the Xbox worth playing that isn't already on the PC

>trying to make this a console war

fuck out here with your bullshit you flaming fag

Sony definitely needs to get told that too.

>>trying to make this a console war

I'm not you stupid bastard, I think both the Pro and Scorpio are meme machines. I just think it's funny how Microsoft went back on their word yet again.

Nope. All first party games will be in native 4k. They said the third part devs can do whatever they want though.

You'd be struggling to find a pc for ~450 that can run those win10 games at native 4k like the Scorpio. Win store is good if you already have a beast pc but if you don't you're better off buying an xbox scorpio.

Have a powerful enough console to stop making more in the foreseeable future.
MS wants to give you the choice to either build a pc or go with scorpio.

It's just going to be a supersized Zen + Vega MCM, probably around 3072 shaders, similar to Vega 11 at a lower clock.

Vega 11 is by all accounts meant to slot in around the 1070.
