Age of Decadence

Just finished this and in a mood for something similiar, any recommendations?

Well what did you like about it? I played through it once as a warrior and i had a pretty good time. Playing as a shit fighter though made the game feel like a choose your own adventure where you sometimes could't proceed since your stats sucked.

Liked the combat, setting and that your decisions had real consequences. Also played as warrior wielding a spear and a shield, was pretty good

>finished
Did you beat it only once? You know you can replay it right?

Well, in that case you are probably shit out of luck, because such things don't exist anymore. You could try the old classic RPGs. inb4 autist screeching about not real RPG

replay it, you barely know anything after only one playthrough

I'm planning playing it again, just not right away

Geneforge

Playing warrior probably means you missed out on a ton of lore. Still I understand how someone can not want to immediately replay a game. If you want choice and consequence, try King of Dragon Pass.

fuck rpg codex

I played probably about half a game of KoDP and it was just boring as fuck
>pick war tribe
>easily win battles every fire season or whatever it was called, gaining territory that you can't do anything with
>swimming in mana
>do 2 or 3 quests
>nothing whatsoever happens, ever
Alpha Protocol has pretty good choices and consequences
You should definitely replay AoD as a loremaster though
Did you savescum to get some different endings? I've never managed to beat the god guy with my pure combat character

i have a save just before waking that god dude, didn't try to fight it yet tho.

Yeah, you pretty much need a guide to walk you through the game if you don't play a warrior because of all the asinine skill checks. Shit was infuriating.

You should, it will probably quickly make you come down from your "hahaha oh wow I can beat any encounter I want to" trip
It's like the last guy in the arena but you're already at maximum power so you can't just come back with better equipment later

The last guy in the arena - was that the mongol with the poisoned knives? Only won that fight by sheer luck because just once he DIDN'T get me with his poison crit bullshit.

I think so, IIRC it was basically a guy who started using alchemy like potions and poison and shit where you only fought regular dudes before, and he had insane evasion

It's actually best right away while memories are still fresh. You get a new perspective on events.
Do a jew run, it's fast and easy.
You really don't need a guide for anything but Loremaster godhood run which relies on some really obscene obscure bullshit.

i couldn't beat the champion so i didn't try my chances with a god

If you got a power armor you'll be fine. Otherwise some things best left untouched.

>If you got a power armor
Doesn't that require a bunch of lore and intelligence to fit in the power cores?
>You really don't need a guide for anything but Loremaster godhood run which relies on some really obscene obscure bullshit.
Yeah you can play everything perfectly fine if you just use your character in a sensible way

Oh, I literally started as a loremaster.

I might try it again at some point, after the fifth time getting stuck with no skill points and no options I just cheated some skill points in and just blitzed through the game. Got sick of restarting my character.

You only need like 8 lore

Not really hard to fit into any of the classes.

Loremaster suffers from having too much skills needed.
It's like the most hybrid class in the game and basically requires either skipping a ton of content and then basically plaing a shit version of other classes or autisticially metagaming it.

Other classes are far more focused and skill checks basically increase by 2 every chapter or so (and a rare extra hard option for best effect) if you focus on class skills and do all the side content you are rarely going to have a lot of problems.
You can usually invest in one or two support/social stats per class to make the run not boring.

>You only need like 8 lore
>
>Not really hard to fit into any of the classes.
I guess, my point is simply OP wouldn't have that if he went full-on dumb fighter
>It's like the most hybrid class in the game and basically requires either skipping a ton of content and then basically plaing a shit version of other classes or autisticially metagaming it.
I like the autistic metagaming part
>you have to stack CON to be able to dive down that well and find some artifacts
>as a fucking loremaster

>dat perception
>dat intelligence
O, how painful the memory of my first fighter playthrough!
In the first city, where you have to scout that enemy camp. If you have too little perception, you will tell the guy "yeah some bunch of dudes, nothing bad" and then he will send a squad which gets completely fucked in the ass.
Not only has your bad judgment cost the lives of several dudes who just did their job, but also the guard boss won't let you to his lord.

I'm fairly sure he'll still let you in but I'm too fucking lazy to look it up
I restarted at that point and put more in PER

The last arena champion is actually a berserker with max crit and a blue steel poleaxe. There's more fights after the Mongol guy.

I can't remember, I joined the guards and killed that asshole.

Wait, was that the one with the superior reach? I remember using some polearms for a long time because it could hit over two squares.

>I guess, my point is simply OP wouldn't have that if he went full-on dumb fighter
Well, there will be skill overflow most likely.
A dumb fighter needs
>weapon skill
>defensive skill
More intelligent fighters (like daggers) need
>weapon skill
>defensive skill
>critical strike

There's usually still some SP left for a support skill. Lore competes for the best support option for a retarded fighter in late game because of power armor. Crafting is just as good/maybe better.
Alchemy as second best.

It's possible I combined those two in my head, guess I had to go away to level up and get better equipment twice
I remember the second or third guy had a cool as fuck axe that I used until I could craft an axe with the very best material at the end of the game
