Xenoblade 1 had a good story but it wasn't deep.

Yes , it looks like we'll have a Monado-fu, and yes, we did see big creatures in the background, but besides that, we know nothing else, not if we'll get on those creatures, nor the nature of the plot. The impression he got was that Japan hated XCX and loved XC. So he made XC2 simple.
people complained that skill combat was abysmal and awakard af(which it was). Either Takahashi retools it to be good or simply don't let the player ride mecha. It worked fine for the original XB

I just want more sci-fi. There are way too many shonen cell shaded political jrpgs. Westerners can't do good sci-fi and japan can't do good shonen.

I see plenty of sci-fi elements in the XB2 trailer. Not every game has to be full on Mass Effect style sci-fi like X. I much prefer fantasy + sci-fi mesh of Xeno games like Xenogears, Xenoblade and Xenoblade 2.
I don't want sci-fi elements. I want sci-fi, plain and simple.
