Nintendo Switch will flop

I think I'm slowly coming to the realization that the Switch is going to bomb in terms of sales.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new Zelda and I generally love Nintendo, but the Switch just isn't a console for the modern market.

4K TVs are only selling more and more, and as such, console like the PS4 Pro and Scorpio are only going to become more and more popular as time goes on. Meanwhile, the Switch can barely even output at 1080p on the same level as a standard Xbone, and it can't output at 4K at all. The hardware just isn't optimal for it.

Consumers who are going to be buying consoles in the future are going to see that the biggest 3rd party titles are on the other systems and they run at 4K, while the Nintendo Switch either won't have them, or they'll only be running at 1080p with drastically reduced settings. Yeah, the portability aspect is cool, but what's it matter if it can't support 4K?

And before you guys cite strong initial sales, remember that the Wii U also had strong initial sales despite shitty advertising. That's just core Nintendo fans being core Nintendo fans.

This may very well be Nintendo's last console.

kek

>This may very well be Nintendo's last console.
This was said about the N64 when Sony went disc based. This was said about the Gamecube when Nintendo insisted on using mini-disc while others went DVD. This was said about the Wii for introducing motion controls. This was said about the Wii U for it's horrible marketing and no 3rd party support.

How many more decades of being wrong until we stop claiming the end?

It's a shit console and BotW is honestly just 5/10 Ubisoft open world trash with a Zelda paint and name slapped onto it.

You will not believe me and call me a shitposter but I actually am a huge Nintendo fan, or at least I used to be.
People just need a harsh, cold reality check and come to terms that the good old Nintendo we grew up with (this does not apply to Wii babbies and upwards) does not exist anymore.
The modern Nintendo is literally the Apple of video games and they do not give a single fuck about video games nor you.

It really does seem that way. Nintendo has been using the very cheapest tactics they can to release their consoles for the last few years because they cannot compete with the big boys anymore. So they try to carve out their own "half-toy-half-console" corner of the industry, using cheap plastic, their own patents wherever possible, and only paying out for parts and patents when they absolutely needed to. It's why they pushed their resistive screens for so long, and why they had that shitty 3D, even though nobody wanted it.

But we're seeing it come to a culmination point with the switch. They've thrown everything at it, and ended up with a mess that isn't powerful enough to be a home console, and is too flimsy to be used as a portable. They're focusing on stupid gimmicks, so no third party dev will take them seriously, and it'll sink like the Wii U. Maybe they'll prop it up with mario adventure or whatever the fuck it's called. Or a price drop. Or a pokemon game. But sooner or later, Nintendo's just going to have to admit it doesn't make consoles. Just pokemon machines.

Actual 4K rendering is way too demanding for games that aren't literally corridor based.

THIS. Fuck, nobody says this, but it's true. It's just the same as any open world game, but less substantial and with cuter visuals.

>This was said about the Gamecube when Nintendo insisted on using mini-disc while others went DVD.
If the Wii weren't a success, Nintendo would have went out of business. They were that fucking close. Luckily for them that one trick pony paid off.

>How many more decades of being wrong until we stop claiming the end?
When Nintendo caves in and makes an 8K Playstation Killer.
Ironically, that will be the console that finally makes them go bankrupt because of how stupidly expensive it will be to upkeep.

Wrong.

In one year or maybe already around Christmas season Nintendo will begin selling that thing at $200 and market it as the 3DS successor. It will sell like hotcakes, 50-80 millions easily.

Every line in this post is cringe incarnate, and I don't even have nor like the Switch.

The thing is, the N64 and the GCN were competitive with other consoles in terms of their hardware at the time (hell, the GCN was more powerful than the PS2).

Ever since the Wii exploded due to its motion control gimmick, it seems that Nintendo has grown complacent with using weaker hardware to save money, while shoving in gimmicks to make up for it. The Wii U had the tablet screen, and the Switch has its portability and the Joycons.

If the Switch was at least just short of the PS4 Pro while docked in terms of performance and was able to output at 4K, there would be no question about consumers and developers alike rushing to it. However, technology just isn't there yet on a consumer level.

I really think the Switch came out too early, and whether that's because Nintendo just wasn't thinking about the future market, or they wanted to rush it out for a quick burst of cash is unknown to me.

Yeah those rave reviews and constant Sup Forums generals are super reminiscent of an Ubisoft game.
Fuck off man, you may not like the open world genre but there are people who do like it and, if anything, Nintendo finally doing something with 3D Zelda that's not an OoT clone is more a return to classic Nintendo form than anything they've done in the past two decades.

>lol I didn't play the game

Sasuga Sup Forums, still the same as ever

>It's a shit console

FUCK YOU!

Nah, I'm kidding. I don't really care.

>Ubisoft open world

no

>Ubisoft open world trash with a Zelda paint and name slapped onto it.
>It's just the same as any open world game, but less substantia

Its so easy to spot the fags that never played the game.

>my panasonic mirrorless ILC can shoot 4k video
>tfw even a compact camera LX100 from panasonic can shoot 4k video comparable to 3k USD nikon D810
>I once watch a gun demonstration video on youtube and asked "which dslr did you use?" "I used iPhone", confirming that phones are capable of recording high quality video when done right
>wasn't even 4k
>panasonic planning to launch 8k video in 2020
>that's 33 megapixel, almost as many megapixels each frame as my previous nikon D810 could capture in single frame/still photography
>there are people to this day that think resolution is only a meme

I can't wait until I get 5-8k display to view other's people work or to edit my raw photos better.

The point I was making is that Nintendo has always done their own thing. They kept with cartridges for the N64, they went a different format on the GCN, and they did something innovating with the Wii. If the failure of the Wii U didn't teach them anything and they still made the Switch as it is, is only further proof they don't care about providing high end hardware, as long as they have control over it and can make their games on it. Even if the Switch fails I doubt Nintendo would have learned their lesson and make the next console as powerful as whatever other current consoles are out.

And the N64 and GCN both bombed compared to the PS1 and PS2, both of which were weaker hardware wise. It's almost like the average consumer doesn't give a shit about a console's power. What they do give a shit about is having their latest FIFAs and CoDs, and you may argue stronger hardware would make that more likely to happen, but that hasn't been the case since the SNES.

Nintendo's most flawed console ever

>Defective on launch, bricked if you got bad luck
>Barely portable, doesn't fit in pockets, you have to take a bagpack just to play a game outside
>Joycons are extremely fragile and with range problems
>Can't put stickers on joycons, you can on the ps4 and xbone controllers
>No browser
>No voice chat without smartphone
>Pro Controller extremely expensive
>Can't play while charging, cable gets in the way, have to buy a stand that is sold separately
>Stand is extremely faulty
>HD Rumble increases the price while not doing anything
>No worth exclusives
>TV mode hinders FPS performance
>UI sucks really bad with the minimalism trend
>Comes with dead pixels you can't fix
>Screen is TN, not IPS
>Huge bezel, screen is way too tiny
>Can't use Ethernet or USB ports, only unstable Wifi not suited for online gaming
>Hard to buy it due to artificial scarcity
>Paid online
>Continuous Wifi connectivity problems due to Security Protocols incompatibility
>Looks like a fisherprice toy, you'll be ridiculed if you play it outside
>Outdated graphics
>Underpowered hardware
>3 hours battery max
>600$ on 3rd world countries, unlike the competition which is half the price and includes games
>Save states are locked on console, if you lose it or it malfunctions you will lose all your progress.
>32 GB internal memory is very little for more than 5 games, competition has 500 GB minimum
>Uses cartridgers instead of discs
>Still uses friend codes
>No AAA support, only indies and nintendo support
>Can't do 1080p
>The dock can scratch the screen really easily
>Cables melt after long hour sessions
>Game cartridges taste horrible
>Straps are extremely hard to pull out of the joycons and can get jammed and actually cut you
>Single Joy cons are extremelly uncomfortable and small
>Cases are innecessarily big for no reason when the cartridges are too small
>Can't charge it with your Mac Laptop, it charges the Laptop instead
>Hard to buy games from another countries

The thing people always seem to conveniently ignore is that Nintendo didn't scale their hardware to be "competitive," otherwise the Gameboy wouldn't have been such an underpowered piece of shit. Nintendo's method has always been "only make the hardware as strong as we personally need it to be for our own games." It just so happens that the Wii was the point at which Nintendo decided that their games didn't require significantly more power to make.

They bombed cause PS1 and PS2 not only had better third party, but because PS2 also had DVD player. Stop trying to change the narrative shill.

So it Will never happen no matter how many flops right?

They will care about specs once they get their fancy new 4K TVs, and the clerk at Best Buy/Gamestop tells them the Switch doesn't support 4K.

The average consumer is going to have to choose between portable FIFA, or good looking FIFA, and seeing as they need to justify their purchase of their 4K TV, they're going to choose good looking FIFA.

Nintendo can never stop being relevant because it never was relevant in the first place. Nes and Snes maybe, but anything else was just gamble and bad business

>cause PS1 and PS2 not only had better third party
I literally said that you skim reading mouth breather
>but because PS2 also had DVD player
Oh that sure explains why the PS1 beat the N64. You're gonna tell me it's because the PS1 had a CD player? How about the Xbox genius? How come that had a DVD player, strong third party support and the most powerful hardware and still sold like 10% of what Sony did?

>worst console of all time
>worst portable of all time
>worst launch lineup of all time
>worst defects of all time
>worst timing of all time

hope they just wise up and get make a steam type client and third party games

nintendo has literally infinite money, they haven't tried to appease stockholders in years, they do what they do for fucking fun at this point, they're never going to go third party because they would literally have to burn their money to run out of it in the near future

Xbox was "black sheep", new to the game, and it could be that people didn't trust it would be good or didn't know it well enough.. that and I think it was actually pretty expensive too during the early years.

Playstation became household name very quickly, normies were digging the Final Fantasy game. Final Fantasy 7 sold PS1, there would not have been PS1 without FF7, and maybe even PS2 would've sucked without some of the jrpg titles.

The average consumer can't tell the difference between native 4K and upscaled full HD, let alone 'turbointerpolated 4K' or whatever retarded buzzword the PS4 Pro marketing team is using these days and upscaled full HD. They'll hook up the Switch, see it works, and not give a fuck.

>worst defects of all time
Remember when something like 1/4th of xbox 360s died?

By that point everyone that already wanted a Switch will most likely have one.

>N64 and Wii aren't relevant
And you're opinion is wrong.

N64 brought a lot of games that are held in high strand even today; Mario 64, OoT/MM, Goldeneye/Perfect Dark, DK/Banjo Kazooie/Conker. Games often used to compare modern titles. I'm hoping that BotW and Mario Odyssey set a new standard.

Wii proved motion controls could take off, one of the few innovations Nintendo has had that turned a major profit for them and won that generation. The same gen, and following, had the competitors copying them.

>>Barely portable, doesn't fit in pockets, you have to take a bagpack just to play a game outside

When I've seen people with portable consoles in public, they've almost always put them in bags instead of their pockets.

This applied to the Gameboy, the GBA, the DS, the PSP, the 3DS, the Vita, and now the Switch.

The Gameboy and GBA in particular weren't exactly pocketable on their first iterations, and they still sold like crazy.

There's a difference between "pocketability" and "portability." For instance, laptops are portable (and you can see one pretty much everywhere), but they sure as hell aren't pocketable. Same goes with tablets like the iPad. Even the iPad Mini isn't pocketable.

>The average consumer can't tell the difference between native 4K and upscaled full HD
This is false, same narrative was used with Full HD. It depends on the source material, if the source material sucks, you can't tell the difference. But if the source material is good, the difference is very easy to tell.

We're talking about 8 megapixels vs 2 megapixels. Are you going to make the claim that if the source is good, that normies can't tell the difference?

The point he was trying to make was, stop trying to play analysis because you're very bad at it, even worse than Michael fucking Pachter. When you get down to it, Sup Forums isn't Nostradamus. Most of their major predictions, Sony going bankrupt, Nintendo going under, etc. have been wrong.

Maybe someday these companies will go under, but clearly Sup Forums is incapable of predicting when. They always get it wrong.

the clerks at best buy will never say anything that might potentially lose them a sale. they will say 'while the switch does not display in 4k, the televisions high tech modern upscaler will bring it up to 4k' and the average consumer doesnt know what the fuck 4k is anyway.

>worst launch lineup of all time
>With a new mainline Zelda and MK8 v2 coming next month
They aren't even exactly exclusives, but don't imply that it isn't better than the Wii U's launch lineup.

Gee if only any console out there rendered native 4K.

I just got a 28" 4K monitor and I can definitely confirm, 4K is not a meme, this shit is insane.

My fuckin screen, without bezels, is literally 2 feet by 1 foot.

Even phones today aren't pocketable lmfao, they are huge. Everyone carries a bag now, even men

Any normie today benefits from a 4k video on their camera over the full HD video. It's not much different with games where the source is better than phone's video.

Do normies even know what megapixels are?

Well scorpio originally advertised that it would, but I guess they lied. But don't try to move goalposts, you said native 4k yourself, and I just replied, it's easy to see. That's why PC gaming is great, you can do native 4k on PC

Let's say they do tell the difference. That doesn't address the second part of my post. The PS4 Pro does not render native 4K. I don't think the Scorpio will either, not without massive frame drops, but we'll see.

Their phones allow normies to almost equal most of the amateur hobbyist photographers, because the photographic capabilities of phones have improved that much. It shouldn't be too different in video area either, where 4k should be better than your average full HD.

Saying that instagram is a meme is only half of the truth.

>This may very well be Nintendo's last console
you are correct, but not in the way you think. It will only be Switch from here on out and nothing else besides revisions. No more dedicated handhelds and consoles because what's the point?

>But don't try to move goalposts, you said native 4k yourself
Well yes but the entire point of OP is that they'll prefer the other consoles. The other consoles do not render native 4K.

Oh look, it's another Nintendo is doooooomed posts again.

is the switch compatible with the wii more or the classic pro controlleR?

>ubisoft makes an open world game -> 5/10 meh, it's ok I guess
>Nintendo makes an Ubisoft open world game -> OHMYFUCKINGGOD 10/10 BEST GAME OF THE DECADE BETTER THAN OOT AND MARIO 64!
You know this to be true. You just will never admit it.

What fucking planet do you live on?

>PS4 Pro
It bombed in the east AND the west.

Im scared it'll be the same thing as the Wii-U, nobody will know if it's really an upgrade or anytrhing. Nobody will know if it's either a home console or a handheld.

It's not exactly marketed as a device that plays FIFA in 4k, that's PS4 Pro's main selling point. People are buying the Switch for other reasons. It's like comparing a phone to a PC and saying "People won't buy phones, they've got PCs to do everything better".

You may be right but for all the wrong reasons. It plugs into a 4k tv and runs and that's about as far as the average consumer gets. Not to mention no console can manage actual 4k at any decent visual fidelity.
They seemingly are hoping it'll be the next 3ds, only it's not a pathetic 240p AND can double as a standalone console.

BotW is much more like Elder Scrolls than anything Ubisoft has put out. Either you haven't played BotW or you haven't played Elder Scrolls. Either way you should fuck off.

It was actually around 54% at the time.

More than half of the original Xbox 360s sold during the launch period experienced RROD.

Meanwhile, Crowbcat makes another Sup Forums-bait video, and everyone gives him views and falls for it.

We don't know the failure rate of the Switch yet, but chances are, the short amount we saw in that video was just about it. Maybe just over a hundred defective units within hundreds of thousands of sales.

You fucks should really just stop giving Crowbcat views. His videos are low effort as fuck, and he relies on clickbait, "cringe" compilations, and fake controversy to get views. He's basically no better than those shitty Youtube pranksters, or people who make top 10 videos.

And I don't say that because of the Switch video. I don't give a fuck how the Switch does honestly. I'm just saying stop spreading Crowbcat's videos around like they're the gospel of Sup Forums.

DS, numbnuts. Literally printed money. Then sales slowed down...

And they released a revision, starting an incredibly prosperous period for the company (6 times as profitable as they were now).

The Wii came 3 years in to this insanity.

Dreamcast had motion controllers

Post a source or post a pic of you sucking your own log

Yeah, and then the other
>'one trick pony DS'
and then the
>'one trick pony 3DS'.
Let's be real here, the
>'good old Nintendo we grew up with'
went bankrupt with the GC.
Oh, and you're wrong BotW deserves all the praise it's getting.

Apply yourself because you obviously haven't played Ubisoft open world games.

And it'll pick up steam once 4K TVs are fully adopted by the mainstream.

If MK8D is bundled and it marketed as you getting a multiplayer ready console with the joy cons, they could be on to a winner.

That looks gorgeous senpai

I played and beat every AC up to 3. Things in common with BotW include climbing towers to reveal the map. Things in common with Elder Scrolls include seamless open world, potion crafting, weapon durability, inventory management, mini dungeons spread throughout the map, etc. etc.

Anyone have a list in order of release date for games that are coming to the Switch? I want more games for this thing.

MK didn't save the Wii U. Nintendo is on its way out. They will get bought by Disney and their mascots will WAHOOOO in Disney rides and have shitty cameos in their cgi shitfests

the only game "worth it" to me is zelda on your list of 2 games.
I dont care how good botw really is, Im not buying a 400$ zelda machine with barely any other games that interest me.

Normies are so far behind on tech, that a lot of poorer ones have only just got cheap 1080p TV from black friday sales last year or the year before.
Think about that for a moment.
If anything the switch might be a good deal for normies since they dont have to worry about upgrading that fucking TV they've held onto for the past 4 or 5 years and have a mini screen on the go too. So they dont have to argue about who controls the TV and the kids can be given it to get then to fuck off for a little while.

>Even the Switch is struggling to handle native 1080p, and has to result to upscaling

And it doesn't seem to make much of a difference either.

>BotW runs like ass at 900p, even at 720p in handheld in some places like the Korok Forest
>Dragon Quest port hovers around 20 FPS at a native 1080p docked
>Splatoon 2 was only running at 720p docked for Nintendo's demos, and is a mere 3-4 months away from release
>Trailers for Mario Odyssey are only at 720p

Why were people saying the Switch was going to compete with the Xbone and PS4 again?

>their mascots will WAHOOOO in Disney rides and have shitty cameos in their cgi shitfests

ahahahahahahahahaha

Thanks for the wallpaper senpai. Will look great on my LG 21:9 monitor.

>admitting that BotW is basically Skyrim with a Zelda finish
I beat you at 4D chess :^)
But hey, Nintendo Skyrim is 10/10 BEST GAEM EVER, right?

I can refute all the muh power arguments with 1 (ONE) image

i stopped looking at Sup Forums because mostly its filled with nintendo cock sucking fags. Are u fucking kidding me? how do people actually think this console is any good? It's the same fucking wii u console pretty much. 3 gigs of ram in 2017? and nintendo expecting 3rd party devs to actually develop on switch? 8 gigs is barely enough these days, they expect devs to develop it on 3 fucking gigs? what about storage? 32 gigs? when now a days , updates and dlcs takes gigabytes and more , they shit out console with 32 gigs of storage. " Oh , but it's upgradable with sd cards" you think smart 3rd party devs will give a shit about it? if it dosen't come with console, that means releasing a game with memory expansion requiered means smaller sales in already small market. Nintendo went full retarded with this. Wiiu was just underpowered but atleast when it came out , next gen consoles werent there yet and it stacked up with ps3 and xbox 360. This one can Barely stack up with any next gen console (and don't give me shit that its almost as powerful as xbox one and ps4 , if it's really that powerful why games like Dragon quest heroes 2 using ps3 assets, looks way worse than ps4 and runs almost always at 20 fps in DOCKED mode and why legend of zelda looks almost as same as Wii u version outside of from 720 to 900 p resolution when docked mode)

Nintendo meme is dead. Nintendo is dead too. This console is gonna fail harder than wiiu. I love all the consoles, both xbox and ps4 (although i prefer xbox over few games and features , i do have love for playstation too) and ofcourse i love pc, i dont care about console war or anything like that but the switch is just god awful. i cant believe people actually believing this shit will succed and how people sucking nintendo dick. "But it's portable console hahah" Portable with 3 Hour battery life (which will get even worser when you use it more and more). This console killed nintendo
Typos cause rage for people being blind

Nintendo has had trouble keeping up with hardware since the NES, the only thing that will kill them is if they keep doing game droughts.

You just literally described the Wii U.

Yes. I did.
But the problem with the WiiU is that the kids cant actually take it to their room, and daddys still in ear range of mummys fuckin soap dramas that bore him shitless.
The switch is a WiiU concept the other way round. Which is what the general consumer probably wants, and would find more useful.

I could even pocket my old 5.9 inch Nexus 6.

Stop wearing Skinny Jeans with fake pockets and you might not have that issue.

>inb4 cargo pants
Nope, regular jeans.

>user, what is that brick in your pocket?
>is that a kindle? You like to read?

> This may very well be Nintendo's last console.

Im 39, ive heard that for more than 30 years. Im pretty sure ill be buying my grandchildren a nintendo console in 30 years.

No one likes open world it's a shitty meme
Botw is a failure and the switch will sell less than wii u

I admit it's true, Ubi games are bland

Dude, I can buy a 50 inch 4K Smart TV for the same price as a Switch, Zelda, and a pro controller. This isn't the 90s where the only countries making tech shit is Japan and the US.

>No Browser
As it should be. At the end of the day its a CONSOLE not someshit to watch netflix on.

Welcome to 2015, the phablet meme died a while ago.

Also, are you seriously comparing people who carry multiple outfits and beauty products to the average male?

your previous argument was that those people just got 1080p TVs this year or last year on black friday deals.
those (poor) people sure as fuck are not going to spend $400 for the newest Zelda machine just so that the head of the family gets his peace. He will just bitchslap his wife and smack his kids and tell them to stfu and give him the remote because daddy is the one putting food on the table.

>Nintendo will surely die this time

Just like Trump won't win.

Post your switches!

Nintendo already made a profit off Zelda and the inital launch shipments. Theyre not in trouble and people have been saying this since the 80s.

Switch can do 1080p natively for its games, the ps4(non pro) cant. The pro isnt real 4k for the majority of games and 4k tvs are still awfully price for the lack of video content available.

Tldr: nintendo will nintendo and be fine. A new zelda and a new mario guarantee that

>4K TVs are only selling more and more, and as such, console like the PS4 Pro and Scorpio are only going to become more and more popular

Just like how the Wii was beaten back when we went from SD to 1080HD, right? :^)

Remember that dead pixels are just normal for LCDs and "should not be considered a defect".

>is that a kindle?
No, do you need glasses?

There is a difference between the medium games are stored on and display resolution, normies actually give a fuck about resolution.

720p, 900p upscaled looks like shit on 4k tvs. It's over.

So much asshurt in one post. Go be a nigger somewhere else. Here's a pity-(you) for your rant.

>Don't get me wrong, I love the new Zelda and I generally love Nintendo

>Switch can do 1080p natively for its games

>Switch can do 1080p natively for its games, the ps4(non pro) can

one game, give me one game that runs 1080 p natively. Dragon quest heroes 2? oh yeah the game that uses ps3 assets, runs 1080 p but always runs on 20 fps when ps4 has smooth 55-60 fps (not pro btw)

nintendo cuck BTFO
