RE7 is still a shit game, with shitty "puzzles" and bossfights, terrible beginning and ending, and no replay value.

Puzzles are just fine imo. They're not amazing but why do you think they're shitty? Also, why do you think bosses are shit? I'd argue the final boss isn't that great but the rest of them were pretty good
Beginning was also pretty good for me. I love the tension between getting out of the car and finally entering the house. No music, just outdoor noises. I thought that also was a nice touch. They really wanted you to be Ethan and I think they mostly succeed with that. I'll give you the no replay value thing but that's pretty much resident evil, except four and maybe 3 I guess

Baker house was designed by George Trevor, or at least a company that still works in his name; which would imply it still has a knack for putting hidden shit in their buildings. After being infected Lucas was experimenting with building puzzles.

Also in Daughters you can see that not all of the puzzles were there when they were still sane; namely the ox door lock isn't there.

I don't get people when it comes to replay value.
Madhouse and normal are so different from each other i consider madhouse to be near a whole new game.
Also people got to remember not even the original RE had that much replay value. granted its not an excuses when its clear the extra content was all cut and made into DLC but still i don't think its as bad as people make out.

The game isn't even resident evil. It's a cash grab.

Its a police station and they have dumb as fuck puzzles blocking everyone off to basic places in the station it must be a nightmare working there.

The building was originally an art museum IIRC, and the reason ammo is in the weirdest places is because the Chief is an asshole.

You could argue that you're bad and that's why ammo was scarce for you in earlier RE's, but I can argue the same for RE7.

The lab was disappointing for me too user. It made me think there was originally gonna be a full fledged lab, with the exposition notes spread out instead of having all of them in the same room.

The real travesty is that the Clancy survival mode only has 1 fucking map

Played through on a pirated copy twice, once on normal and once on madhouse
was really fun but i dont see myself playing through it again with all the unskippable cutscenes and how simple the level design is compared to the older games
Played through REmake about 8-9 times after beating it for the first time too.
