What went wrong?
What went wrong?
nothing at all
Absolutely nothing
That game is amazing, Glados is best girl ever. And Chel is a swee beautiful brownie.
Nothing. Even "muh cake is a lie" was not as bad as people represent it to be. That meme's overstaturation was peanuts compared to what has come since.
Honestly its strange how people latched onto the dark humor of portal, to the point where Portal 2 was a flat out comedy game, when the horror aspects of the game were much more pronounced.
Oversaturation mostly.
I couldn't find the Intervention anywhere
What are some other games like this?
Narbacular Drop.
Portal 2
The Stanley Parable, if you don't mind a game with almost no gameplay
Thomas was a lone play a lot with different physics.
Honestly nothing is wrong with the game itself. Its just that its fame was its downfall. By the end of 2009 everyone was fucking sick of cake jokes and glados.
Speaking of Portal and games like it, whatever happened to that game where you could resize objects using perspective? A few years back it was supposed to be the new portal. Looked fun
I don't mind Glados that much but they had to know what they were making with the fucking cake imagery.
Forgive me if I'm a faggot, but wasn't there some talk about portal 3?
>3
Never.
Valve can't count to three.
They not only toned down the puzzles for the sequel, but they also focused more on humor and less on the creepy atmosphere
I'd rather have dark humor with occasional cake references than mantis men, combustible lemons and space preaching
portal 2 is one of my favorite games
Got any more desolate games that seem like horror games but really aren't? Only ones I can think of are Portal, the original Stanley Parable mod and Gone Home
Entry way drug for the "I'm such a nerd! xD" type.
Talos principle > portal
No
Honestly I am halfway convinced that they just let JK Simmons improvise all of his dialogue in Portal 2.
>the afterthought of the Orange Box turned out to be the best game there
pretty crazy how good it was
my only problem with Portal 2 was how many of the puzzles seemed to solve themselves because of limited spots where you could put portals, it was still a 9/10 game whereas the original was without a doubt a 10/10
I played this game after avoiding it for many years because of all the obnoxious humor it was famous for, and I was surprised to find that like 99% of the game was just solving puzzles in silence. The jokes mostly came during the brief periods when you were in between puzzle areas, and weren't as annoying or intrusive as I had been led to believe
There is four counterstrike games
nah, he's just a good actor
Literally nothing.
Ehh, apples to oranges. I really enjoyed TP despite it not really having the gimmicks or humor of Portal
Valve cant make games that end in 3 because they made a deal with lucifer and are now stuck using gambling machines to make money.
I hadnt really thought about this, but you're right. At least it means Sup Forums has stopped shitting on this game.
Objectively wrong.
The jokes are not intrusive at all, the game is genuinely hilarious. People were just incredibly salty over how the memes caught on with the wider public, that was the obnoxious part.
Nothing, both games are awesome and Portal 1 is in my top 5 vidya ever played and I have been gaming for regularly for over 25 years now.
The game was bugged the first time I played it. I didn't hear GLaDOS until the end, which made the game some kind of light horror/mystery game sprinkled on top of all the puzzles. It was fucking fantastic.
When I replayed it the next day I heard all of her dialogue, which made the experience completely different, in a good way. It's like I played two different games and both were incredible.
Nothing, this game is objectively perfect.
I remember the first time I beat the game, after I destroyed Glados's last core, the audio glitched and become warped and low-pitched, which actually added to the effect
nothing
then memes
Bump, looked like an incredible concept
So where does it fit into the Half Life Universe?
It doesn't matter, because we're never going to find out
its black mesa's competitor
