I don't get it. What the fuck just happened?
I don't get it. What the fuck just happened?
Sonybros try to legitimicize this game despite the story and lore making no absolute sense from a philosophers point of view. No idea how it garnished so much praise
>playing video games for the story
??????????
Depending on the circumstances:
1. You end up being a pawn to the pawn of an old one
2. You end up being a pawn to an old one
3. You kill the old one and become one yourself
Best Lovecraft adaptation in a video game.
have you never read lovecraft, user?
bloodborne is unashamedly a ripoff of many lovecraft stories
the disjointed narration is intentional, so that you feel dumped in to a story that's happening regardless of your presence, and it's up to you to find out what's going on, but only if you chose to do so
>from a philosophers point of view
What? The game is about killing monsters and aliens, not much philosophy there.
Absolutely. Even Eternal Darkness don't got shit on it.
sony cucks got mad that witcher 3 destroyed bloodborne.
>from a philosophers point of view
dude just read item descriptions xD

New player here, is there much point to putting EXP into bloodtinge? I hardly use the blunderbuss
Not unless you plan on using the chikage, evelyn, bowblade, or bloodletter.
Fuck you man!
Wheel all day every day.
>Boom hammer that high
>The three edgiest weapons are in the top 5
Opinion discarded
>1. Burial Blade
Good fucking taste.
I'll try out the saif and church pick next playthrough just for you, user!
You're playing as a silent trenchcoat wearing badass who absorbs blood to become stronger while killing eldritch gods and you're self conscious about what weapons are too "cool".
>burial blade
>saif
Mah nigga, you know whats up
Aaand now I go fap to gay stuff.
Great taste by the way, though Rakuyo can be fun, you're definitely a man of class.
none unless you wanna use guns for anything other than riposting/stunning or use a couple of very specific weapons that aren't even all that.
"magic" is also worth shit in this, so ultimately you're better off just picking dex, str or both.
post yfw you beat Orphan of Kos solo for the first time
>lore making no absolute sense from a philosophers point of view
I wouldn't have said anything if you didn't put the shitty cane that high up
Cane is patrician-tier, what do you have against it?
>not liking the boom hammer
I agree tgat the chikage is an egelord weapon, tho, but the burial blade is in first where it rightfully belongs. It it hands down fromsofts best weapon
>tfw too intelligent to pay for online play and fought it alone every time
Low damage. Hitting things transformed leaves open a small window and isn't good for rally either. Crowd control isn't a big deal most of the time, so I wouldn't put it that high up
there is philosophy in bloodborne but the user you're talking to is too dumb to understand it
bloodborne is heavily influenced by plato
Who cares senpai. It looks awesome and has a varied moveset. Also allows gun in trick mode. It's just fucking cool all around.
Burial blade is fucking sweet but I don't find the boom hammers moveset too interesting
>muh lovecraft
how about you retards talk about the other arguably more important references?
muh lovecraft is skin deep in bloodborne
I just killed the three shadows and found iosefka.
I feel like I'm missing something. Is there somewhere to go other than forward? Also, should I be doing chalice whatevers?
gehrman is kicking my ass
influences I meant, not references
but references too
You just experienced "good game story writing from one of the best" don't question it and thank Miyazaki
You can go to Cainhurst now if you want to.
Did you find Iosefka through the back entrance to the clinic?
Have you found the Cainhurst summons there?
Have you used the Tonsil Stone/talked to any NPC window after Amelia?
No, Chalices fucking suck senpai, only do them if you decide to go for plat (which requires 3 playthroughs anyway).
you don't need to read the item descriptions to know the general story, it's all told through cutscenes, dialogue, and notes
you definitely do need to read item descriptions to know the general story
but I don't know why having to put in effort should be a mark against the story
I nearly popped a blood vessel irl of that joy i felt, heart beating like a congo
no, you dont
you need to read them to understand the lore and have a full grasp of the story, but the general story is told through the cutscenes
I'm around the same area. Got through the university thing, but at the end there's just an old guy pointing to the horizon. I've tried using the monocle to see if I can see something far out, I've thrown pebbles and molotovs off the side. Can't seem to figure out what comes next, I think ive missed something.
Just checked, I have a tonsil stones and a cainhurst summons. I think I'll do that instead of advancing.
I'm trying to play blind, but I got fucked over pretty bad and now I just want to google everything.
The sky and the cosmos are one.
okay but it's completely incomprehensible if you don't understand any of the lore
it's incomprehensible to most people even when they do try to understand the lore, user
Don't summon.
The fight is so fucking good.
Please don't parry.
Right, don't do that because there's certainly a lot of stuff you still haven't seen.
Read the descriptions on both of those since they each lead to optional areas, it should be clear what they refer to.
its one of like 3 games theyre forced to love because they dont have sims, mods, rts, grandstrat, emulators and mobas etc.
>BUT DUDE UNCHARTED, NIOH, BLOODBORNE WAS TOTALLY WORT- OH GOD ALL WE HAVE IS 3RD PERSON HACK N SHOOT GAMES
Oh fuck off, parrying is perfectly implemented in BB. It doesn't exactly trivialize Gehrman if you haven't mastered doing it on every one of his moves, and it doesn't deal that much more damage than attacking him normally in most cases.
i fucking wish i read the item description of everything i picked up on my first time through des and das, but i didnt, and i missed easy to get treasure because of it
>tfw defeated Ludwig in two tries
>Laurence in three
They weren't that hard and imho there was plenty of time to step away from them and heal up.
roms minions are doing like 7/8 of my health bar per hit. am i underleveled?
don't worry friend, I won't summon. hate to say this but I'm going to continue parrying him, sorry
Nope. You're just supposed to avoid them completely.
Don't even engage them in combat.
Do hit and run attacks on Rom and avoid the Romletts.
That's dumb user.
If you wanna play it safe just kill the spiders. Rom's magic is easy to avoid, and you only have to take care of them 2 or 3 times before the fight is over.
I currently farming in the lecture hall. this place wont disappear like Hypogaen gaol will it?
by that logic it's way faster just to focus on Rom and smack her around instead of wasting your time dealing with the spiders
it's confusing but not incomprehensible
>you are somewhere receiving treatment
>you awaken to a town overrun with beasts
>you die only to reawaken in a dream world
>told that to be free of undeath you must rid the town of beasts
>you begin to do so, rescuing people and uncovering the story as you do
>the treatment you and others were receiving was purposefully fucked by some church
>the church has done this before and the old city burned
>the church was founded after splitting from some school
>you search the school for answers and find they are hiding something
>you kill some giant spider and the veil of reality is torn
>suddenly the world is nightmare mode and alienlike creatures are everywhere
>they were always there, you just couldn't see them
>you search for some scholar associated with the school and the church
>to do so you must enter another realm of reality not unlike your dreamworld
>turns out the scholar went mad during some ritual attempting to contact one of these alienlike creatures, who are godlike in power
>you never find this god but you do find its wetnurse, and killing it seemingly severs it's connection to the world
>was it responsible for the beasts? did you end the night of the hunt? maybe, but you're told your job is done
>you can accept "death" and reawaken one final time from the dreamworld and leave the forsaken city behind
>or you can reject this and challenge the man who has guided you, eventually taking his place and presumably waiting for the hunt to begin a new
that's the general story and it's fairly straight forward, it's all told by cutscenes and dialogue
is it the whole story? no
is it missing out a lot? yes
will the player have a lot of unanswered questions? definitely
but if you don't read item descriptions, pay attention to lore, visit hidden areas, fight optional bosses, you'll still know the story
This guy was obviously the real, main-event final boss. Moon Presence was a pushover and was just the secret optional encore boss.
I don't understand how the game makes no sense. It spells it out pretty easily for anyone to understand if you play it enough.
Ancient beings that were basically worshiped as gods disappear one night.
Coincidentally as this happens, madness takes over the realm and people rationalize their insanity by taking their anger out on beasts, and even make an event out of it.
During this, they find blood from their old gods that gives them powers, "The old blood". They later discover with enough of it, they can ascend into greatness like their gods did.
You arrive, I don't know much of your character's backstory, but you basically put other hunter's down because they too go insane, and at the end of the game you decide if you either want to take Ghermans place, bring the hunt to in end, or become a "Great One" (God's basically).
Some of their jump attacks do a ton of thrust damage. Like around 1,100 damage to me at BL118 wearing the harrowed garb
>you are somewhere receiving treatment
speculation
>told that to be free of undeath you must rid the town of beasts
nope
>the treatment you and others were receiving was purposefully fucked by some church
nope
>they were always there, you just couldn't see them
nope
>turns out the scholar went mad during some ritual attempting to contact one of these alienlike creatures, who are godlike in power
nope
>you never find this god but you do find its wetnurse, and killing it seemingly severs it's connection to the world
nope
gee user you're not proving your point that well
>speculation
stopped reading there
it's literally the first cutscene you dunce
it's implied that you're looking for paleblood, and the blood minister suggests that you start by taking yharnam (the city) blood
it's not implied that you're sick and seeking blood ministration at all
Rom's spiders are fucking op, I always avoid them
Use bolt paper for increased damage or the Tonitrus to destroy her easily.
Also, you can use a charge attack to cancel Rom's teleport if the timing + damage is right
>stuck on logarius
>try to shoot him twice for visceral
>bullet doesn't even hit him
help
>garnished
You find paleblood, though. At the very end of the game after killing Gherman.
>needing help on any From game boss
you're hooked up to an IV, user
you're receiving treatment
i didnt specify what that treatment is because the cutscene isn't explicit either and this is the general story we're discussing (not lore inferred from item descriptions)
you're wrong on your dismissal of the other points too
This
You need to kite the little fuckers
>fight him
>first phase easy
>second phase he starts flying around, doing stupid long combos and also has that sword he sticks in the ground fire shit at me nonstop unless I smack it
>keep dying since the camera ALWAYS fucks up when he lands near me
>impossible to lock on since he lifts off and unlocks and it's impossible to fight him with lock off since he appears out of nowhere and combos me easily
>finally start to get an upper hand, he's down to about an eight of his health
>say fuck it and go all in and start trading blows and dodging like a madman
>literally was one blow away from killing me when he went down
>just in case started rolling around after he died in case that sword lasted a couple more seconds and was still firing at me
By the gods, fear it, Laurence.
go jump in a lake
Great volumes of water serve as a bulwark that guards sleep, and an augur of the Eldritch Truth. Overcome this limitation, and seek what is yours.
that's beside the point
but also you're being overly simplistic by suggesting the moon presence is what's referred to by "Paleblood"
obviously you're receiving blood ministration, but it's not stated anywhere that you're receiving "treatment"
I'll concede that you might've just meant you get ministered blood, but "treatment" implies a sickness or injury
and no I'm not wrong on dismissing the other points
>legitimicize
>from a philosophers point of view
WEW
Go to the moon, it beckons.
FINALLY
Nope the place Inna spoiler is the only place that loses its connection to the dream
That doesn't disappear??
>because they don't have sims, mods, rts, grandstrat, emulators and mobas etc.
good those are all fucking aids
i literally meant you're hooked up to an IV, i.e. receiving treatment
what that treatment is or why you're getting it i didnt explain, because again, we're discussing the general story inferred from dialogue/cutscenes/notes/gameplay and ignoring item descriptions/hidden areas/optional bosses
and yes, you are wrong in dismissing the other points for instance saying nope to the fact that the alienlike gods were always there and you just couldn't see them until you kill the giant spider
you can die to an invisible great one as soon as you reach the chapel ffs
don't reply when you don't know what you're talking about
Backstab him during phase two charge up or he will be immune to parying
it's still there it's just different, and that one lamp is broken
He's talking about the broken lamp.
Shoot the swords or even throw a pebble at them to remove
okay but you can also go to the Unseen Village, the area that's the most populated with Great Ones, and they're not there
there's a reason why it's prophesied that the Great Ones will descend WHEN the red moon hangs low
also the Great Ones you're talking about are not invisible, you can vaguely see them with no insight
gameplay is stale as fuck
literally meme game
>garnished
Neat picture. I always cheese the NPC in that area by luring him to fall into the water.
Checkmate, kosfags!
You mean Yharnam, the city whose blood is known to cure all ailments? Where it is literally used as a fucking medicine for everything?
Blue hat is best NPC hunter in the game.
Why would you do something so horrible to the best fighter in the souls series?
blood ministration is the pursuit of communion, not healing
Because he usually whips my fucking ass. I know my skill level. If you can't beat em, drown em.
...where hunters partake in communion... even the doll, should it please you
lel, you earned your (You) m8
>4 of the top 5 are Skill weapons
>The remainder is also halfway Skill
>Yet he doesn't even rank the best Skill weapon
I didn't think one person could be such a beast.
