Developing a console takes about a year or two for QA and sorting things out, they are generations behind. They should of waited because their tegra chip is pretty shit imo.
Also the QA was shit for the switch, so I'm not sure if Nintendo was purposely being behind a generation so they didn't have to pay as much for the newer chip sets
