Second for HOUSE ALWAYS WINS

You're too early bro

Speaking of the 188, I just arrived there today and I noticed something strange that I can't find anything about on google or the wikia.
Coming from Boulder City, I arrived at the 188 and did business as usual. I'm doing a heavy RP run, so I'm not listening to the radio because my character wouldn't. But I started to notice that when I began walking towards the large power line towers just passed the 188, a dramatic organ theme would play very heavily against the ambient tracking. I didn't think anything of it until I started walking right along with them. As I started following them, the same theme triggered three times, almost immediately back-to-back-to-back as soon as the last cut finished. And if that wasn't strange enough, when the organ cue wasn't playing, I could occasionally here what sounded like intense radio static that sometimes got fairly high in pitch.
I've heard that some areas in the game take the ambient cues from the surrounding, but I've never noticed it before in all my 700 hours of play time. I searched the area heavily for anything out of the ordinary and I didn't see or find anything.

I wanted to bring it up to see if anyone knew what it might be or if someone's experienced something similar. It kinda freaked me out since it's late and I've got no lights on and I'm alone.

It's nearly at cap and I had some topics I wanted to discuss and not have the thread die on me before it went anywhere and have to start over again.

I know, I'm quite the sneering imperialist.

Thoughts on this guy?

Doing my first ever luck run and I'm maining this guy and ratslayer. I'm having a fucking blast and love Lucky to death

Not /our/ guy

Idkwtfti

Bump

Maybe not your guy but he's definitely /myguy/

My NV loadout in hype for new Samurai Jack season

I know what part of the OST you're referring to. That's a cello, not an organ, and the part overlaps itself toward its end, producing the discordant sound.

Pretty cool dude. Really hate how every mod references him now.

Would definitely be friends with him.

Could you link it

go to /vg/ for generals

your snowflake game isn't the exception

Need a build for my umpteenth replay. Any suggestions? vanilla only.

how do i make my game crash less thank you brothers

You all need to go back to /vg/. Last time I'm going to ask nicely, I mean it this time.

What's with Sup Forums's hard-on for this game

It's the same boring shit found in every fallout/ES game.

use LOOT

It was fallout's peak and no bethesda game has reached anywhere near it in quality

The loot system still sucks just like every other. Exploring is non-rewarding and mind-numbing.

There's very little lootgen in NV, most of it is hand-placed.

>Exploring is non-rewarding and mind-numbing.

Would you prefer FO4 where every 10ft theres shit every 10ft because they thought players have no attention span whatsoever.

Wait, where did you get a samurai sword?

How OP is having more SPECIAL stat points?

This, friendo. DLC.

just played a few hours. died a bunch of times dealing with legion hitsquads coming as i fight the raiders at the raided farmstead. i was heading south to get the tesla prototype canon, gonna use it to blast my way thru the boring there stands the grass mission.
the whole lower half of the map is nonstop legion hitsquads. one after another on very hard

How would we fix the Legion and make them a genuine, viable alternative amongst the options presented?

this is what a general looks like. I'm all for new vegas threads but for the love of god don't justify the shitposters and actually start saying FIRST FOR and posting other things in every damn thread

Thoughts on More Perks?

nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35979/?

What is the best perk in your opinion?

every time I play, think of, or hear Old World Blues referenced in the game I always wish Obsidian had made the DLC less parts cheesy science fiction spoof comedy and more parts serious.

I understand that the comedy is meant to be the thin layer above all the horrible horrible shit that went down at that place, but in my opinion the very best parts of the DLC were

>finding out what happened to Christine, Ulysses, and Elijah before you got there via all their outposts and logs
>the end, conversation with Mobious, revelation, and confronting the Think Tank
>talking to your brain

every time I play it I remember a decent portion of the DLC is three fetch quests (albeit good ones), and I wish there were more character interaction.

Although now that I am thinking about it I really did like how you could find the humanity of all 5 brains again through quests and dialogue

maybe im just overthinking it

I love it, but I love perks. I also use a mod that lets me choose a perk every level instead of whatever the base game allows. Sure it makes me retardedly OP by the end of the game, but it's more fun and I've already done my "serious" run years ago.

>JG on Mr. House

lol

I think you're getting at what was intended
It's just like Fallout New Vegas itself. There's humor but under that humor is serious shit and themes that become clearer as you progress. Just like how the main quest line goes from having spurs that jingle jangle jingle to deciding the entire fate of the mojave

He literally got set on fire for poor planning, what did you expect.

SPECIAL can mean quite a bit, if you have more Luck it can really break any sort of balance

I'm not sure that's possible. Dictator regimes tend to have serious stability problems when leaders die.

>everyone is voice by liam o brien: the game

Jury Rigging

I would still rather have that than the shitpile that followed. If anything, Lonesome Road made OWB better because it captures some moments when Ulysses wasn't the poorest written character in the game with beyond fucking nonsensical motives.

Somebody to talk to about the Legion other than somebody who doesn't live there or who is a Legionary

For the main quest to show you something, anything about the Legion prior to speaking with Caesar himself that doesn't involve crucifying a towns' worth of people, detonating a radiation bomb in the next town you find, and having bought a pregnant slave from some pinch-faced cunt in the town after that one

Meanwhile, the NCR is represented with people who aren't actively murdering. They might be dicks, or they might be shown to have bureaucratic shortcomings, or characters might talk about the NCR as a necessary evil or the better of two bad things, but the player in general doesn't see them being bad guys with their own eyes. You're TOLD that the NCR isn't all that great, but you're SHOWN that the Legion fucking crucifies people and attacks caravans. I think that's more significant to molding a player's first impressions of factions.

Tbf House would have woken up literally days before the Legion first rolled across the Dam. As far as the Legion and NCR knew, House was some semi-mythical figure running his little isolated city with no ability to affect anything outside of New Vegas.

The idea that House secretly has a fucking army is so contrary to what the Legion and NCR knew then or during the events of the game that no one could have even begun to predict it.

Are there any real reasons to run HH or LR? I've only done LR once and I can't remember if I get any great equipment or perks, outside of souping EDE up. I've done HH a few times, but all I remember is liking Graham's armor and thinking how much I hate tribals.

Have encampments that are prospering and settlements that have benefited from being under their power to show a possible positive to their quest to rule the mojave.
Essentially get rid of
>muh legion boogey man

Didnt alot of caravans comment that they were always safe in legion territory because Legion would fucking kill any raiders or scumbags along trade routes so that supplies could safely pass through.

legion honestly seemed like pretty cool guys once you joined them. Seems like they were just brutal as fuck while expanding into new territory, and they only assfuck you when you fight or resist them. Join them or ally with them and you are pretty well off.

>mfw I only realized a few days ago that the 'ghosts' of the sierra madre are the holograms

the ghosts are the ghost people that are corpses of the guests being held sealed inside the radiation suits

...

On YUP, if I replace my Skilled trait will I also lose the skill bonuses? Or does it just prevent you from adding more skill points?

What's the canon ending for Come Fly With Me?

that's not Fallout 1

Does it really? Most perks are either pretty useless or too situational IMO. Shouldn't be too OP if you pick more fun novelty perks.

no, they're the ghosts of the gasmask guys

There's one trader in The Fort who says something like that. I think Raul does too.

After looking through the list, I think you're right. Most of the added perks are fairly situational, but there are some that I find pretty handy like the free stealthboy and the Pipboy upgrade. I apparently choose the vanilla perks more often than the mod perks, but I still like all the options for different runs.

Thanks to the user who suggested the 1st person weapon animations overhaul yesterday. Works great for fan firing.

stop using this explot reeee

YUP definitely fixes this though, if you change it when leaving tutorial zone you'll just lose what it gave you.

My game has like a 50% chance to freeze when I exit a building.
In my 240 hours of playtime this has not happened before so I know it's one of my mods. What kinds of mods tend to cause issues such as this?

do you use autosave

might be it

It happens even if I don't load a save. I can walk into a room, do my business, try to walk out, and bam, freeze.

Hmm, have you done anything with the timescale at all?

Nevada Skies or Realistic Lighting changes the timescale, doesn't it? I might be remembering a different mod, but those are the only ones I have installed that might.

I don't think so, but there's a console command to change it, set timescale to x

Is Real time Settler mod any good, does it have problems like lag or crashing?

Sure, I'll try. If that doesn't work though, what would the second biggest culprit be?

I'd like to help further than that but I dunno. I know that even loading an auto save and later saving from that can cause massive save bloat, so that might do it

Make Caesar less of a thug and more charismatic. Let the player see Legion territory and the lack of raiders and the like.

Safely pass to them. They have no problem killing caravans that operate within NCR owned regions. That's not pretty cool, that's resorting to immoral tactics.

I guess it could be that too. If all else fails I'll just restart and turn off autosave, wasn't that far anyways

>killing caravans
>mfw they attack a caravan and get blown the fuck out

>immoral tactics
>in post-apocalyptic war

Cutting enemies supplies is a basic tactic of war. Any army that wants to win will do so, even in the modern world.

Of course, but you can't believe you're morally superior if you side with the Legion because of things like that. Legions are degenerates in their own way. They're on the same level as Fiends to me.

*blocks your path*

Grunt and Cowboy

House woke up several years before New Vegas started, he stayed hidden until his Securitrons detected NCR scout scoping out Hoover Dam and realized by their uniforms that they represented a new wasteland nation

He even tells you himself that New Vegas and the Three Families were set up just in time to welcome NCR to the area. NCR arrived in the Mojave two years before Caesar's Legion attacked Hoover Dam for the first time.

Where the fuck is Adficio Animicus

Trips decides the play style for my next game

Less? How about never? Get YUP, NVAC, 4GB Patcher, NVSE, ENBoost from enbdev, NVSR and OneTweak for smooth windowed fullscreen alt tabbing. Enjoy literally never crashing anymore.

>They have no problem killing caravans that operate within NCR owned regions
That must be pretty hard considering Crimson Caravan is already doing it for them

I don't get this meme. It's useless.

>b-but you can repair expensive stuff with cheap stuff and sell it!
Yeah, because we all know how much of a problem money in NV is.

>b-but you can repair unique and rare weapons with more common ones!
Weapon repair kits exist.

>b-but there are no armor repair kits!
NPCs can repair them since when you already have an expensive piece of armor money is no longer an issue.

...

Did you guys remember to let go?

no

Nah I took all the gold home with me. It was a major pain in the ass.

Maybe it's the convenience of being able to repair anywhere anytime?

Alright, it made me giggle.

In that case, weapon repair kits are even more convenient since you don't even need to find any weapons to repair with.

As for armors, I never managed to fall below 50% without encountering an NPC to repair it. And I don't fast travel.

I don't see it being worth a perk.

Man the first time that shit seemed so preachy and arrogant.
I'd gone in blind and was half assidly rping, I thought the broadcast was genuine and post-war.

So I come in to get away from the wastes as a kind hearted gunslinger and suddenly everyone's ragging on me and calling me a greedy prick and I can't defend myself.

Oh I let go alright. Let go of all weapons, armors, edibles and ammo so I could carry as much gold as possible.

Can someone give me a quick rundown on this guy?

Is Dead Money supposed to destroy your frames? I went from 60FPS to 25. It's unplayable.

The quick rundown is you run, quick.

I let go of all the mines and placeable explosives I had and pressed up against the force field that Elijah walks through. When he turned it off for a second, I ragdolled though it and he rushed into the mines, leaving me to slowly walk to the exit with a minute to spare.
