Christian game thread?

>bible

Probably worried about upsetting christfags. Darksiders is the only game I can think of based on biblical lore.

Will be interesting when Kratos get's to it.

>middle eastern religions
go away ahmed

It would probably upset too many people to be worth it. Dante's Inferno was basically Christian God of War and it ended up getting boycotted by both Christians who thought it was mocking them and non Christians who thought it was preaching.

I personally would love a game based on the old testament, like that dude you who uses a donkey jaw to kill a million guys and that town that gets God-nuked. I'm not even religious but I would play the shit out of that game.

Tons of JRPGs and Animes about it

Because Western Educations focuses entirely on teaching everyone about fucking Greek/Roman/Arthurian mythos to the point where it turns everyone off from exploring everything else.

So you end up never reading shit like the Ramayana where the literal incarnation of the greatest good in the universe banishes the wife he saved from a demon that never even tried to fuck her because said demon because all his citizens were calling him a cuck, even after she threw herself in a fire to prove her purity

>no biblical-themed games
uhhhhhhhhh

>Hardly any games about it

Because at the end the message is the same - "Don't sin, faggot."

If there was a book about how you can kick the shit out of demons by getting /fit/ and learning how to swing a sword, more people would be interested in making media based on it.

...

Darksiders is only vaguely based on biblical lore. It sort of took a concept and ran with it. A God of War clone with Samson would be cool.

Go back to Sup Forums.

If you're a good Christian, you wouldn't buy a game with magic in it.

So why not make a bible game anyway, since that core market is never going to buy your games in the first place?

By a Western studio? Shit'd likely be too controversial for most publishers to greenlight.

Just look at the whole shitstorm surrounding Dante's Inferno. Though the worst thing about that is that the game was poop.

Are the more worried about upsetting Christfags, or normalfags?
People don't generally like religion in games outside of the Big Bad.

Hulk Ultimate Destruction in a Samson vs the Philistines setting would be fun though.

I've seen that face before, but I can't put my finger on it.

Go back to Sup Forums yourself

Because the worst of the Christpals get just as triggered as the standard Tumblr user and people don't want to deal with the hassle.

Dante's Inferno is neat though

There are a lot of games that have taken inspiration, stories and some parts of the bible. If you mean direct video game port then there are a few but mostly educational.

the dante's inferno "shitstorm" was just marketing
seriously, look it up
nobody actually gave a shit

Ah, the old 'No you!' comeback. Thankfully preschool prepared me for this.

No you go back to Sup Forums.

As a Christian, I loved Dante's Inferno.
Although sadly never completed it.
And I missed one part of the Cross, which sucks since there's no backtracking.

Pretty much any of the Judges' stories would make for a fun game.

As well as pre-Noah.

Any Lord of the Rings game. The entire series is apologetic.

>it ended up getting boycotted by both Christians

>If you're a good Fundamentalist slave, you wouldn't buy a game with magic in it.

What are the essential ChristKino games?

Unironically the other game he made, the one that was an allegory for abortion. Too bad he decided to sell out and pretend it wasn't after the fact once he started marketing his more popular series on furaffinity.

A game where you play as enoch, one of the only two living men to ascend to heaven, and you embark on a fantastical journey through literal heavenly dreamscapes to teach the lesson of the inevitability of God's supreme victory to some rebellious angels doesnt exi...

most video game developers are either straight laced introverted atheists or pot head extroverts spirtualists who don't care about Christianity or it's rich history.

It is a shame that modern Christianity only focuses on hippie shit of the Bible, because if people read the entire King James bible the Bible is very redpilled.

You're not allowed to actually DO magic IRL, but pretending is fine as long as everybody knows it's pretend.

Doing magic IRL is stupid anyway, because even if it works, your soul is demon/spirit/other fodder anyway.

Darksiders is not based on biblical lore. It borrows the idea of 4 horsemen of the apocalypse but that is where its connection to the bible ends. The rest is all made up by the developers.

How was this, anyway? I remember reading that it had some ex-Capcom/Clover personnel involved.

Probably because you'll get beheaded for insulting them.

Oh wait that's the other one.

christians would bomb the studio

Doom is the the ultimate Christian game.

youtube.com/watch?v=j_ekugPKqFw

its fucking amazing
except for the actual combat, which plays like if devil may cry only had three weapons that were actually just paper, rock, and scissors

Technically this isn't biblical, it's apocrypha.

Beautiful game though.

Does being redpilled essentially mean being pessimistic/realist?

youtu.be/Bqwqpjvtkss
Super 3D Noah's Ask

The biggest problem with modern Christianity is that it focuses on the forgiveness and loving too much. Too many forget the vengeful and just God. Without that Duality, something important is lost.

Maybe realist. It means being aware of how bad things are, but also of what can be done to improve them.
Thanks user, that was a beautiful read.

>start game
>Lucifer, the messenger of God, shows up to ask for a favor. Six angels rebelled against God and fell from heaven, have been fucking up earth, and god has decided to FLOOD THE WORLD IF SHIT DOESNT GET FIXED. Since you're a human you can go to earth no problem.
>you accept
>God grants you all your powers, gives you the strongest armor in the game, assigns all your powers to you, and then TELEPORTS YOU TO THE FINAL BOSS
>naturally you get your shit kicked in
>God is so disappointed in you that he rewinds the entire game back to the title screen and fucks off for the rest of the game. He'll call lucifer on a cell phone to check up on you instead.

I would pay a shit load for a Bible based JRPG where you kill God at the end.

>tfw the Christianity stuff in New Vegas

When it's done well, religious stuff can be pretty rad.

What kind of cheating prick can just spam lightning bolts?

>King James bible
The shittiest translation of the bible with interpretations based on the leanings of the translator themselves and this is only one of its problems.

being redpilled nowadays mean you agree with Sup Forums majority at the time.

That'd defeat the point of it being Christian based.

Christianity inspired, maybe.

At no point was I taught about arthurian mythos. That shit is straight up fairy tale. Where do you live where they teach you that shit?

the spell got a massive damage nerf due to the IRL implementation. It wasn't changed in the tabletop version.

...

But still, that's a LOT of quick succession bolts.

>he's not Ethiopian Orthodox

wow

Neo Mexikong.

Wouldn't he have used all his spell slots?

forgot my ethiopic

So you're on the internet, right? You've probably seen a few instances, a bit of science that made you test your faith. What made you keep believing?

I speak as a guy who used to believe. I mean, I started seeing how wrong man is about everything and concluded that it's entirely an institution built upon controlling people with no proof other than blind faith, with condemning those who ask for proof.

>spoiler
You poo

I went to a Catholic grade school, also known as an atheist factory. I was pissed off for a decade but now I am a fan of Catholicism because I like the lore and art direction. I am so concerned by the muslim problem I routinely forget other religions exist and adult white people actually believe this bullshit.

>having an alright thread
>faggots show up

Good stuff.

New mexico? I can't speak for your state but all I know is that my parents are going to flock there in their 80s and die in the southern sun, and I'm not sure why. You and Arizona. What the hell?

You literally punch YVWH in the face in multiple SMT games

Most of the games that use Biblical lore a lot come from countries where Christians are not a major population.

For example, in Japan, since Christianity never really caught on there, most people treat it the same as Greek mythos.

Honestly this isn't really something that can be hashed out on an Ethiopian Icon sharing site, and it's hard to think of 'good' examples.

Probably the most real thing for me was God being there for me when I needed Him the most and not giving up on me when I'd thought I'd given up on everything, especially Him.

In this particular context this sounds iffy, but it's really hard to convey anything in tbis topic via text.

Regarding Science and such, I haven't actually come across anything that really causes me more stress than can be explained with one of three things:

>I don't understand it enough

>We don't understand it enough

>God is Omnipotent, beyond Space and Time, and really beyond anything we could understand, so why not [x]?

inb4 Omnipotence is a new idea guiz

Basically, God is so beyond comprehension that I reckon it makes sense one way or another, and if it doesn't, then someone somewhere along the line probably me isn't fully informed yet or misinformed about one or more aspects.

This may seem like a cop-out to many

Awesome game,
I hope they make a sequel one day,
we actually don't get to see Enoch become Metatron in the game.

The nephilim aren't

zealots certainly have an impressive vocabulary

I was gonna list Dawn of War next but there's too many so I'll just leave it at that. I love religious zealots simply for the fact that their dialogue will always be so based

What bits of science do you refer to, exactly?

Relevant.
youtube.com/watch?v=5W6yGH6X1c4&app=desktop

Reminder that they are /ourguys/

There's also Devil May Cry.

I should add:
It helps that I went to Bible College, and that they encouraged questions.
Even if most of their answers were; "What do YOU think?" and then pointing me in the direction of some authors/the library.

I like games where you get to kill god or some powerful equivalent at the end.

There's truly no feat to accomplish greater than destroying an all powerful being.

Not sure there's ever been one where you get to kill the Bible depiction of the Creator but I'd love to be wrong. Well besides SMT with having YHVH exist (do you even get to "kill" him?

I'm sure the chick who runs it is nice and all, but it's pretty embarrassing how badly almost everyone on Sup Forums sucks up to her when she comes here.

Shin Megami Tensei says hi.

In the end Sup Forums is a good Christian board after all.

What games feature completely trustworthy angels?

The first Shin Megami Tenseis plot is literally "japanese earth demons ask hebraic divinities to help them against japanese heaven gods and then get betrayed by YHVH"

If your faith is challenged by science, it wasn't really faith in the first place, just logic. Faith is believing in a christian god when all of the greek pantheon just appeared before your eyes and told you that they are real and the jew god really doesn't exist

Don't feel bad if you don't have faith, it's really just a way to force the dumbest ones to do good actions. Being faithless doesn't make you a bad person, a lot of priests are faithless

Doesn't defeating an All-Powerful Being immediately invalidate your victory?

Since if a Being is All-Powerful, you couldn't beat it.

Therefore you either didn't beat an All-Powerful Being, or you lost but you don't know it yet.

I get the idea, but beating a Supreme Being and an All-Powerful Being are two different things.

Your approach is close to ignosticism, with the key difference being you take the blame for not grasping the concept of god instead of just dismissing divinity due to lack of usefulness.

who was the other person who ascended to heaven alive?

>>The Bible has some of the craziest lore in human history
No it doesn't. It's one of the most boring and blandest mythologies in all of history. Unoriginal Jewish fanfiction is pretty limited.

I'm okay with the cop out idea, actually. I agree on many fronts. Like, take an issue I don't feel strongly for or against, I figure humanity will get to some decision based on what's best for humanity because that's how evolution works. It's the nihilist in me.

I mean, why believe in god, though? To me, the holy texts seem more like priests trying to push people in the direction they wanted to push people in. Don't eat shit that will make you sick. Give me some cash. Respect these pagan days because we want to bring pagans into the fold.

I'm a big fan of "the simplest solution is often the most true", and it just seems much more likely that people were trying to keep each other healthy, doing what they wanted, and becoming more powerful than "there is a mystery man in the sky who loves you unconditionally". Now, your cthulhu mythos sort of view raises different questions, which I respect. Is there an order to the universe, and how could we understand it? If there was an order to the universe, how could these men writing these works be correct?

That's more or less how I felt as a child. If shit is the way it is, there are either two choices.
A) nobody gets it and don't listen to anybody
B) there's nothing to get
or
C)There might be nothing, or maybe there's something that no one will ever get, which is functionally the same. Anyway, try not to be a cunt.

I went with C, and I don't know what that makes me.

>a lot of priests are faithless

Sounds pretty tragic.

why is there no game about the Archangel Michael leading God's Army against Satan in the War in Heaven?

I was named after him, so I've always taken an interest in that story

>>The Bible has some of the craziest lore in human history
not even close. read some of that hindu shit and you'll learn what real crazy is

>Ramayana
This. Fucking this.
The lore is great and yet nobody is exposing it. here also Barathayudha too.
Barathayudha mod in Bannerlord might be great.

>Its a "you can't have faith and believe in science" post

You can believe in both you retard they are not mutually exclusive and in fact though out history have gone hand to hand.

I guess supreme being is what I meant then.

I guess you could call be an edgelord because I truly dont believe an all powerful being exists, certainly not one that gives a fuck about the individual lives of people over say, insects or germs.

Getting the chance to kill god is like asserting yourself as being human and the ruler of your own destiny. Or making it unequivocally true that your experience and personal growth can make you into the most powerful force. Hell I've even a fan of friendship saves the day at the end tropes.

Neo Mexikong.
Use your brain.

What state is basically the dumping ground for Mexico and Asian immigrants?

>stories Jews stole from the Egyptians and Zoroastrians with a lot of the cool parts taken out
>craziest lore

It's not that terrible. They themselves realize that sunday mass is the only way for old people to meet other people, and that the advices they give in sermons are still useful for the parish. Believing in God doesn't make a good priest, but understanding and trying your best to help your local community does

makes you not a cunt, user

>blind faith in something regardless of truth
>only accepting things based on empirical evidence

They are entirely different

>muh Jewish stories meme

the whole reason it's interesting is because it mixed with European paganism and became fucking cool, especially once renaissance artists began depicting angels and shit as either baby heads with wings or ripped dudes with big ass wings ready to take out Satan in a Commando raid

>God is so beyond comprehension that I reckon it makes sense one way or another
Do you not know how retarded that sounds?

Overwatch.

But I don't think God is useless, and I see God actively help me every day.

Feel free to disagree and attribute it to something else.

That's not meant derogatorilly by the by, I am both not awake enough, and this is not the right format for, a full and proper discussion.

I'll respond as I can though, but I may disappear soon due to having to do other things

Why not believe in God though?

I think this is the main defining point between my view and yours.

I reckon God was the reason the universe came to be and the reason it is as it is.

I don't know why, but it's not my job to know why.
My job is to look after the planet andthe people on it, as well as point people to how they can actually live the best way although not the most fun way necessarily in this life and the next.

I don't see why they men writing these works'd necessarily be incorrect, at least not entirely.
They may not have entirely understood what it is they were told, so it may have been reframed or they may have reframed it in a more manageable way.

Like I said; this'll be disjointed and mostly unhelpful since this isn't a great format for these discussions, and I'm not only not the best person for these, but not in the best headspace at the minute for them. finally getting those dull parts of the Pally campaign in Legion done at 2am was worth it though whoever greenlighted all of these timegates, low drop chance collectathon quests and reuse of quests in general should be shot repeatedly
