Why is Fallout 4 just SO. FUCKING. BORING.?
McChicken
The characters are just so fucking flat. Its like talking to the damn automated robots at a chuck e. cheese show. Absolutely 0 depth of character which leads to 0 depth to the quests and the narrative. Everything every character says is obvious and painfully so.
I havent played fo3 or fonv in a while so I can't judge whether it is an objective judgement or a judgement based on the simple fact that I am older and see through the facade.. I guess it really comes down to immersion.
But then I think of old world blues, and it may be nostalgia kicking in, but damn I loved exploring the bits of narrative as much if not more than actually exploring the big MT for weapons.
And that too. Raids suck in fo4. You get shit rewards at the end.
There is an attempt at a saving grace which is the amount of customization... And while the level of customization is nice, especially with settlement building(this aspect can be really fun indeed), it doesn't help the game feel anymore shallow. The whole feel of the game just feels shallow and empty and not nearly in the same way as the big MT was empty.
Correction: It doesn't help the game feel any less* shallow
ANOTHER SETTLEMENT NEEDS OUR HELP
I mean, just to add to this, think of a character like Valentine and his voice inflection the whole time. It felt like he was being paid to speak to 4 year olds, and explain things like the player was not completely there mentally. I suppose its an attempt to grab at a younger audience? But it feels like a lame attempt made by some aging executive completely out of touch with the real world.
Becuz muh arpayjee and nostalgia fur 1997 and CASULS REEEEE
Same shit as with Oblivion, Skyrim and F3. There's no sense of accomplishment in anything you do. You're just going through the motions, doing the same shit over and over again.
There needs to be some reason to do it - perhaps the story is great, perhaps you unlock cool shit, perhaps the gameplay is really entertaining. These games have none of that. The gameplay simply isn't good enough to be fun for longer periods of time. And you don't gain anything if you deal with the gameplay and push on. After having played for several hours you'll have no sense of having accomplished anything. The game doesn't care what you've done, and it's not fun to simply do it for its own sake.
Don't get me wrong as an absolute hater of this game without rhyme or reason. I have probably near 300 hours playing it and these are the shortcomings I find. But to me honestly it seems like great enough a sum of shortcomings and straight-up narrative stupidities that I would consider the next, if there is a next, Bethesda Fallout with much more scrutiny before paying good money for a narrative that felt like it was made for a toddler.
what nostalgia?
Focus group design to grab as many normalfag buyers as possible.
Because Bethesda drops in all these ideas that sound cool, but doesn't actually do anything with any of them to add any depth or substance to the game.
Mile wide, inch deep.
Not made by Obsidian or Interplay/not set on the West Coast/Remotely affiliated with Bethesda, therefore polluted by normies.
>After having played for several hours you'll have no sense of having accomplished anything. The game doesn't care what you've done, and it's not fun to simply do it for its own sake.
But we already have your money by then friendo
New Vegas, God bless it, went to the opposite extreme of blathering on about so what stuff. Example: Ulysses "hur durr Courier divide bear bull divide courier"
sounds about right. I finished it and felt bad afterwards.
I hope you didnt pay for it.
Because you are boring.
Because it was a cash in, duh
...
Not him but I pirated it and felt completely conned, I didn't even make 100 hours. It was so shit that I went to Skyrim and turned the measly 200 I had before into 1000.
Nothing in the world gives me hope for the next Elder Scrolls let alone Fallout.
>I went to Skyrim and turned the measly 200 I had before into 1000
>Get to that place where you meet the minutes guys
>Kill a deathclaw in a few bits
>So bored that I just st
rop the game forever
It's so fucking bad what the fuck Bethesda?
its better than (Bad)Breath of the Nintenchild at least
The potential for a great game is there. The main problem is the stupid dialogue system and the player voice. If Todd fires their story designer who came up with all these shit ideas, there might be hope. I hope Bethesda learns from their mistakes for TES6.
Fallout 4 is that shit user, that's what I'm saying. It's one game mods CAN'T fix, the awfulness is rooted deep.
Nothing in the game was emotionally upsetting. Everything was too easy. New vegas was upsetting, nobody was good, everything was shitty.
>fire the story writer
lol no chance bethesda is an old boys club
>game was so shit you went to play an equally shit game
Mods cant fix a bethesda game.
And that's exactly how they think.
Oblivion had Radiant AI. Fallout 3 had blowing up Megaton. Skyrim had fighting dragons. Fallout 4 had building towns.
They have to have some gimmick to draw people in. Skyrim 2 will also have some new gimmick - perhaps you can marry, get a kid and then play as the kid, or you can control the weather which will affect monsters and stuff, or you turn into various creatures or something. And like always it'll be something superficial that doesn't really matter when you're playing. But it sure did look great when they were talking about it.
Because it's actually just a generic action/adventure game instead of being a deep RPG experience like it was advertised as.
were WARNED
How people react when I say I enjoyed FO4
Anyone know of a solid torrent?
It's because it's not an RPG, the characters are "flat" like said because you have no way to explore their depth.
There's an even split of people on the same subject for Skyrim, the only reason not everyone agrees that it's boring is because despite everything wrong with it, it still manages to be a role playing game.
In Skyrim/Morrowind/Fallout3/NewVegas/Ect who are you when you start the game?
That's up to you to decide, sure you may have a little bit of background, but other than that your character is a complete mystery until you say otherwise.
In Fallout 4 who are you when you start the game?
You're either Nate the solider or Nora the lawyer.
There's no real dialogue and you have no significant impact on the game world just like Skyrim.
It's pretty bland and I hated that there were no multiple ways to complete quests. Plus sidequests are mostly kill or fetch.
I'm really dissapointed with the way Fallout has turned out. Skyrim was already a warning sign.
Don't expect much from Bethesda from now on.
you play games too much. you need a better balance in your life of sex/girls/work/play and then you will enjoy it more
Because its bad fallout game, its dull and bland babbys first crafting survival game, its a weak shooter worsened by 'rpg elements' and its not an rpg because you just shoot stuff and you stats (besides amounts of hp) doesnt really change anything. Its not fallout, its not skyrim. This game is bad both as a sequel and standalone game. Thats why.
I really enjoyed scavenging and settlement building.
They're really not meaningful from a game play perspective, but i find it lots of fun to sift through junk for what I need, and then taking it back home to build shit out of. Every item in the game was breakable into components, and figuring out what ones you need and what junk give the most of them, you feel like a real post apocalyptic scavver.
Sell everything you have, donate rest to sjw and live in a dumpster playing real life fallout hobo. comes with full 3d support as well. Will be more fun than F4 too.
Todd should browse Sup Forums for advice on TES6.
>TES6 ends up being absolute dogshit because of it
Todd commited sudoku after witcher 3 release. Bethesda now is in a state when making a more mature rpg will leave them bankrupt because 'i dont play games for reading durr', but another tes installment will be even easier and simplier game than fo4 and skyrim were (those two are casualfest either, lets not pretend), with no chance of competing with witcher series.
at least there are no competitors coming from console market and witcher series is over.
Why would Todd commit sudoku after the release of yet another JRPG?
Because some nobody from small country across the world suddenly made game that has everything tes series and does it better than tes ever did. And well, even tes fans noted that elder scrolls gone to shit. There's no way coming back from that.
he'd be better of asking reddit since Sup Forums and reddit share literally the same opinion when it comes to Bethesda games.
>I need arbitrary recognition for everything I do in my life, even video games
Sad!
It will sell no matter what because there are no games like it. The "It's too hard for the normies" meme needs to die. Dark Souls is the best example that making a game difficult doesn't ruin your sales. The problem is Todd doesn't want to make a RPG but a theme park with gimmiks so that he can make a good powerpoint presentation for E3.
>game that has everything tes series and does it better than tes ever did.
You're confused, The Elder Scrolls is a Role Playing Game series, The Witcher is a Japanese Role playing game AKA a game where you decide what equipment (pre-defined character) uses.
>even tes fans noted that elder scrolls gone to shit
Only some fans, and that's because they don't like newer games, I mean a lot of fans said the series had "gone to shit" back when Oblivion came out, but that that game is still loved.
Bethesda games are always discussed with good and bad arguments here. On reddit there are just isolated fanclubs who downvote negative opinions.
>Dark Souls is the best example that making a game difficult doesn't ruin your sales.
R-rated deadpool while being nothing more than a mediocore movie with blood and swearing got 700 mils of $ around the world too, so DS being successful despite its unfriendlyness to player is nothing special.
>comparing Deadpool to Dark Souls
>comparing Deadpool with any game
wat
It cool that all of you hate it. But i fucking love it. I was disappointed by the dlcs but the rest is fine. FINE.
What did y'all were expecting? Because i fell the hate comes more frome a disappointment place. There are a lot of terrible games out there but people choose to shit on fo4 for something.
>they don't like newer games
Because newer is always better. So, how's your new iphone doing, pretty impressive with that new headphone port? Have you bought xbox scorpio already to play newer call of duty?
got boring too fast
It was hyped as the savior of videogames.
From E3 to release Todd was Video Game Jesus
Compared one cultural precendent to similar one.
I forget that people mostly live inside their own boxes, im sorry that you dont understand.
>Oh shit I ran out of an argument! I'm going to change the subject to how dumb you are because I said so.
Same desu. I had fun making up my own little challenges but every time I tried to do some quests I go so bored and turned it off.
Is this bait or are you just retarded?
The people who gripe about 4 are almost all 1 and 2 fanboys who get triggered by the mere fact that Van Buren was cancelled. That, and CASUALS REEEEEE.
I mean, come on guys, Fallout 1 and 2 are pushing 20 years old. It''s the current year!
>What did y'all were expecting?
I expected them to learn how impressive a first person fallout can be even on shit engine (new vegas), then use better visuals and add good story, invest i a world loved by so many and fill it with new features, characters, places and lore facts.
Instead i got only decent visuals, their writers shat on lore and story is so fucking bad that even fallout3 main quest seems interesting now, compared to it.
The plot is too boring even for a bethesda standard
>but you don't need a plot to make the game good
Yeah, sure. But the plot needs to be engaging, just enough to make care about what are you doing and what are you going to do. Not to mention that despite the fact the gameplay is straight upgrades from the previous games, it's still mediocre compared to its peers.
Well shit, better luck next time, fag.
>I mean, come on guys, Fallout 1 and 2 are pushing 20 years old. It''s the current year!
but if nintendo releases new zelda that is basically the same game with A NEVER SEEN BEFORE REVOLUTIONARY OPEN WORLD GAMEPLAY, its okay.
We are at a point were developers can't be trusted.
It's modding comunity is dying
So the problem is mainly about the flat story?
>start game
>"heres your power armor"
thats one factor
It was never alive.
>"hey son, can you tell me why you made 3d printed meat clones with hopes and feelings when you had perfectly good terminator bots and also why are you spying on people and why did you kill those people trying to start a goverment and why did you make supermutant and release them into the wild and why why why???"
>'no'
muh
this game sucked so hard i stopped being friends with the person who wanted me to play this
No, because getting advice from here means a financial disaster
Why did Fallout 4 succumb to unrealistic cartoony art style with smallhead Chad proportions? If Todd pulls this shit with TES:VI I'm out.
Honestly can't blame you
Y'know, I remember when New Vegas was extremely hated among the Fallout community. Now it's considered God tier.
What did Orwell say? "We've always been at war with Eastasia".
Thats the main reason, i can accept the fact that old style rpgs will not be successful these days so fuck it, at least give me game that respects material its based on.
F3 was okay if you just say 'screw quests' go explore the map. Joy of explorations is what f3 does best (still, i think).
Then was NV with a very investing storyline, but bugs and player guidance, invisible walls and shit picture relly didnt make this game better. So when i want to just explore wasteland i play f3, when i want a good story in fallout universe I play nv.
And f4 just was neither of those.
Shooting feels not enjoyable at all. Enenmies become bullet sponges. Barely naked raiders surviving nuclear blasts or bullets to the head is ridiculous. Level scaling is worse than ever. Crafting, while fun, is pointless. RPG elements only limit player, because of how lacking they are in depth or common sense.
But i'd close my eyes on it if fo4 at least followed lore and story of fallout 1,2 and nv (fine, and 3, there's not much story anyway) and everything about story is fucked up. Jesus fuck if you dont have time to play original games just read fallout bible or vault wiki. Its all there.
People of v make reviews based on screenshots. Bethesda writers make games based on screenshots. just great
It has by far the best gameplay of any Fallout game, which makes it objectively the least boring Fallout.
>fallout 4
>small head proportions
Are you fucking dumb, nigger? Everyone in Fallout 4 had MASSIVE foreheads. Like, to a ludicrous degree.
It looks pretty but alot of the game is just repetitive
because Boston is boring and the lead designer was terminally ill during its making and they had to compromise.its a big empty reboot without the vault under-story that 3 had without the more advanced play style that New-Vegas had and "falling over backwards frothing at the mouth..."
Talking about superhero proportions, everyone has Daniel Craig/Calvin Harris small heads which makes their bodies look more attractive with broader shoulders. It's unrealistic though, and TESV went for reasonably realistic models. Not so much in Fallout 4, where everyone is a FUCKING SMALLHEAD CHAD AAAHH!!!!
>tfw probably 1/5 or whatever head proportion despite being 186cm and will never look as good as Chris Evans despite him being the same height but having a smallhead Chad head
Once you start noticing it, you can't unsee it.
Alright, I will take your point. I'm just irritated by how big Bethesda made the foreheads and it clouded my judgement. Thankfully it's easy, but time consuming, to fix.
No I definitely agree with you about the foreheads. How did it take them 4 years to shit out such a turd? IMO the environments look WORSE graphically than Skyrim, a fucking last gen game.
without consequences for your actions, the game is dumb.
you can align with any faction and can do anything you want and there's never a consequence for anything.
Grand Theft Auto 5 has more consequence.
The difference is transparency. On Reddit, there is a visible and easily usable marker for how many people agree/disagree with opinions (up or down votes). On Sup Forums, people must type out a response to an opinion instead of just easily clicking a button to instantly show their opinions. The function is similar, though, as there are many things on Sup Forums that have been shitposted to the point of non-discussion (e.g., Fallout 4 is good). After hundreds of threads of shitposting, there's little point in trying to formulate an argument for certain opinions because you already know that it will be met with shitposting.
Reddit and Sup Forums are functioning on the same circlejerk system. None is better than the other.
Pick a side or get run over.
>Grand Theft Auto 5 has more consequence.
Nigga i enjoyed gta5 but the only real choice in game is made for you (nigger decides who is going to live or die, not that mafiaman, not crazy dude. You liked those more? Nope, nigga will be the main character after all) and even then it affects only last 15 minutes of ending you can watch all at once from a single savefile.
Wrong
This is a good thread.
