>the six of us were connected
Huh? Who's the sixth one? The player?

just got ending A, do i really have to do all those damn sidequests all over again with 9S?

yes

Is this thread Route D?

He was very funny in person. They also had a thing where you could line up to have your picture taken with him but I know he hates the whole "celebrity developer" culture so I didn't go.

Nope. The only 2 you have to do are the ones to unlock the weapon shop and the ones to unlock chips from the supply shop. After that, it's only the ones you haven't done.

This is literally a general and is not even trying not to be. go to /vg/

HOW THE FUCK DO I MAKE EMIL LEAVE THE GOD FUCKING DAMN DESERT CAMP

I NEED THE RARE MATERIALS

MOVE THE FUCK OUT OF THERE YOU MAGICAL TWINK GAYBOY

The game came out last week and comes out again tomorrow. Expect constant threads for a bit.

someone just has to make the /dodg/ (with Nier Automata somewhere in the title too) thread with all the right stuff in the OP and that would be fine

O T P
T
P

>Mankind is extinct
But Emil____ still exists (llikely more too given the events of the space alien war and how he can multiply infinitely. Can't they just take his genome and create a new human race?

No because he dies

Emil is barely human anymore. I don't even know if you could get something out of him that would help any more than the genome they already have on the moon.

I'm on route C and when I get the option to choose my playable character I'm just sticking with one, is this bad and I never find out what happens with the other if I don't pick them?

Emil doesn't have a genome anymore silly
Humanity is done for. Androids and machines and whoever else will continue fighting until the sun consumes the earth unless we find a way to unite everyone in song

Nope. Just keep playing.

Did Papa/Bro Nier fuck everything up or what. Jesus Christ.

He killed Devola/Popla and the original gestalt, dooming the human race.
He didn't kill P-33, which led him to give sentience to both Androids and Machines (YorHa Stage Play and Fires of Prometheus)
He caused Emil to turn into a bony skellie man, causing him to suffer for thousands of years
Was there anything this dude did right?

You unlock chapter select right after the ending, so you can immediately go back and see whatever you didn't pick.

You have to do both sides eventually

I had to switch to 9S for it to happen. The chapter after you fight A2. I did the whole thing to fight him on that chapter and bought his rare mats and weapons.

He saved his daughter.

He got Yonah back. To be fair, Devola, Popola, and the Shadowlord were really asking for it.

>He didn't kill P-33, which led him to give sentience to both Androids and Machines
Wait, androids too? Weren't they already created and thus have their own sentience right from the get go like Popola and Devola?

Awesome possum.

Without machines to fight, androids would just kill themselves due to their complete lack of purpose.

Either that, or they'd wage war on all the moose and boars in the world.

he is the one who fucks

I'd personally be completely okay with a general on /vg/ honestly.

So if I did route E and picked not to help others (ie to keep my save data) can I go back to that later and choose yes? I'd love to do so after getting the platinum.

Also I assume with E, I'm done with the game proper and now it's just side stuff.

E was fantastic as well holy shit.

According to the note in the tower's library Yonah was incurable. He murdered everyone else just to selfishly keep his suffering daughter alive

According to FoP the androids didn't have any sentience prior to P-33 rising out of the volcano. Androids and machines are both made of the same cores anyways, so I doubt one would gain sentience without the other doing so as well
That or I'm just reading too far into this retarded mess of a story

>Some whatever robot on a side quest in Nier leads to the fundamental development of sentience for living machines.

I wonder what right now glossed over side-quest is going to have massive ramifications for Nier 3.

Weren't every "human" in Nier actually androids though? Not just red girls and Nier/Yonah/Kaine. Since they weren't humans they were vessels for the gestalt human souls. It's living machines that got sentience from beepy.

" If someone puts them in danger, they must stand aside or be cut down!"

Yes, but he saved her for a little bit. He did that one thing right.

That first one isn't really his fault, that's on Devola and Popola. They could have easily stopped him at basically any point before Emil became the ultimate weapon, and probably for a good while after that too. That was literally their responsibility but they just let him keep going until it was too late.

This is my new favorite track
m.youtube.com/watch?v=3W6X4V3FNwg

you're goddamn right

>Not Gestalt Yonah for 'feeling bad' about sharing a body with Replicant Yonah
>Not the Shadowlord for losing to his idiot Replicant, even with more than a thousand year head start and all the Gestalt project infrastructure at his disposal

Androids already had sentience - see Popola and Devola. It's the machines who didn't have sentience.

Only the YoRHa units are made of machine cores. They also weren't given proper Artificial Intelligence like other Androids because it was deemed "inhumane" due to the nature of their existence.

Time to make a general and fuck off to /vg/

>can I go back to that later and choose yes? I'd love to do so after getting the platinum.

Of course. You'll just have to lose some more people's data so you can say yes to the question. If you're selfish enough to sacrifice more people's save data so you can feel good about yourself, then go ahead

where can I read all the side lore like this fire of prometheus stuff and the stage play? grimoire nier?

Did fucking anyone expect that explanation of the aliens? Jesus fuck I speculated and tried to make connections for long then just. Poof. Fuckin taro

I want to FUCK zero in her used up cunt

...

Was looking for the trophy list and found this shit:

pastebin.com/3Gd7WNRC

Yoko is reaching Kojima levels of trolling.

>Getting hit after accepting help

>after another 5000 years of animal warfare, a visionary comes forward
>High Speed Machine gives them a new purpose
>the entire planet is converted into giant boar drifting tracks

>stage play
There's a dvd of it's first version on nyaa.

Saying yes subtracts a save file from the pool no matter what.

They have purpose, it's getting humans back into the world. While they only exist as genome data from the Gestalt project, they do need to win the war. The YorHa group is just a thing that allows the peasant androids who aren't on the project to believe in something AND collect combat data so the androids can eventually cleanse the world of machine life when humans are able to be brought back in down the line.

The machines are only allowing this to slowly happen because the network believes that adversity is the path to evolution, and thus the war can continue as long as the androids aren't "winning".

what happens if you slaughter pascals village when you first show up?

Some kind user compiled a mega containing all the supplement material

This one is great too. I love calming/ambient type shit

youtube.com/watch?v=QJXuZMFL3Rw

but it's not released yet

He really did (but was completely justified) I've been meaning to make a "Local man ruins everything" edit with Nier's face because holy shit did he. But hey he saved his daughter/imouto so that she can go through the whole black scrawl thing again so... yeah.

thanks boss

I was pretty surprised when I realized what that shop was, but I didn't want to buy anything from it since that just feel cheap

All right, so I'm still stuck trying to get Angel's Folly and Type-3 Fists. I keep seeing that I have to reload to City Ruins Center and he'll be nearish the camp/Engels and then I can get the weapons, but he always spawns at the desert. Is there a certain chapter that I need to do this in? Do I have to wait forever for him to move to a new location? Losing hope...

>Weiss sacrifices himself for no god damn reason

This is the part that's always puzzled me.

How do I use the counter chip? I tried to do it by just moving the analog stick and just got my face slapped.

You get Ending N.

>Some whatever robot on a side quest
Beepy was a boss in the game

That poor 2B had to have an attendant lead her everywhere because she couldn't see anything with the blindfold on

Yeah that "inhumane" part felt like an excuse either because they couldn't predict the emotional patterns of the AI influenced by machine cores or because they wanted highly adaptable personalities. Either way the architects of Project YorHa are complete assholes and I hope Jackass kicks their assess.

Go to right before you have to fight the whale, play as 2B or 9S, then go talk to Emil and buy/sell something.

Then fast travel back to the resistance camp and he should be by Engel. Go to him, buy/sell something again, then fast travel back to the camp.

He should now be outside the camp and you can buy his weapons and mats.

I probably shouldn't like Adam and Eve because they're horribly underused, but they're pretty neat characters.

Oh god is that what it meant when it said "Person's data has been lost"? I already did that because I'm bad at video games.

Now I'll feel bad if I don't go back and say yes. Did I really fucking do that to people? Fuck, man.

BECOME

No one will ever love you like A4 loves A2. ;_; Same goes for 2B and 9S.

The excuse is because they didn't want to give human intelligence to things destined to be killed by a self-imposed virus.

Didn't get a chance to reply to my thread earlier. I didn't like the core gameplay of the first Nier, but I feel bad jumping straight into this and I feel like i'll miss out on a lot since I haven't played the first one properly.

I enjoyed the demo.

The battle music used when you fight them in the spaceship is fantastic.

Welcome to the shame corner. Population: you and I.

fuck this looks awful

I wish that was an actual fucking boss fight and not a cutscene. It felt ridiculous to have them be like "Okay then, time to kill you" only for them to teleport out.

Playing Automata first will ruin some things about the first NieR if you haven't played it before but Automata stands just fine on its own.

Replicants are not androids
Replicants can't give birth which is why Devolas and Popolas have to become functioning and well liked members of their communities, so they can add new replicants to the communities without rousing any suspicions.

It's alright if you use other peoples saves as long as you delete yours at the end too. If you don't you're a shit.

Watch clemps videos on Nier and Drakengard, or watch that one retrospective video on all of them if you're lazy.

I thought it was an optional, my memory's getting bad. Still neat that someone you would have paid less attention to than shadowlord and others is so important.

nice trigger disaprine.

They already gave it up to help you. It doesn't matter though because you can just use a USB/external drive or use the cloud save to back up your save data, hit yes, enjoy the meta fact that you actually had data on the moon, and get your save data back.

Just don't overwrite your system data because the title screen changes are tied to that instead of save data.

>Implying there's a finite pool
I'm sure plenty of assholes have already tried to wipe out all the save files

>had to have an attendant lead her everywhere because she couldn't see anything with the blindfold on
That's kawaii as shit.

Ok thanks for the clarification. What guides the replicant if they didn't initially have a soul and aren't robots? They're just flesh and blood clones? OR did they have souls, just threadbare ones they expected to replace with proper human souls once the time was right?

>in game
>YorHa units have beautiful dresses and fashionable jackets
>stage production
>plain black dress with mesh sleeves

Perhaps the production values for the stage play were proportionately similar to Nier and the Drakengard games.

is the hologram chair really necessary for watching your robot fish for you?

It's awful. But I guess Taro retcons it by them being older models while the jnits in the game are newer models.

Replicants were supposed to just be empty shells that sit around waiting for their Gestalts to come and fill them up again.

They just gained sentience on their own and fucked everything up.

Why is Yoko Taro so moe?

Because it kinda is. Japan has odd notions of what kind of material works for a live-action stage play. It's probably normal for them, but it's definitely awkward to everyone else.

>Taro revealed at PAX that he bullies Okabe into working on his games

>Missing 1 side quest
God dammit where the fuck is it already did Emil's too.

Tfw you visit pascal's village after you wipe his memories as A2
I didn't ask for this shit.

Yes.

Taro said it was just a goofy one off that was sort of like a joke that ended up being real.

MGR

Still pretty assholish and I hope Jackass fucks them up.

I think i'll try Nier again, see if I can get into it this time, then if I don't i'll just jump into Automata
