What bothers me more is that they've never made aliens that are actually 'aliens' throughout the franchise (aside from the hanar, partially). All the alien races are pretty much humanoids with very human issues and personalities.

It's such wasted potential because this is a videogame, where they can put together very interesting shit without the limitations of, say, a TV show where they just apply costumes on humans to make them look 'alien'.

this is my main problem with Andromeda as a whole. when i hear "Andromeda" i thought completely new galaxy with all new races and completely unrelated to the milky way. no turians, salarians, asaris, krogans, not even humans. i was ready for a bizarre surreal alien world to explore, then it ended up just being the same shit with a new name

They just look stupid and goofy. If I were to play this game I wouldn't be able to take them seriously at all. Weird designs are fine but make them interesting, not silly, unless the entire race is just a bunch of comic reliefs.

that's just lazy and simplistic, there's a number of good sci-fi first contact type books with some really interesting aliens that are totally alien but still relatable in human ways once they unravel their biology, culture etc (which is the interesting part, and a missed opportunity in games like ME's part)

As a side note, humanoid rigs are always easier to animate (which is why you can see when they re-use animations in cutscenes). It would be simpler if they said that most races descended from the protheans which is why they are all vaguely similar.
