Was Ornstein real?

As real as Smough's thunder farts
yes
2 and 3 are not canon
>Can guard huge tits
>Instead chases dragon dicks
He was a faggot.
canonically his appearance in anor londo in das1 is an illusion, he had already left to search for nameless king at the time of the chosen undead's arrival.
he succeeded in the end. just be happy that ornstein accomplished his goal.
He sure felt real
>illusion
>does a fuckton of damage
>smough absorbs his power if you kill ornstein first
Pretty weird fucking illusion if you ask me.
No, hes a videogame character you dumb fuck
it's a retcon of a sort. the silver knights of anor londo are also illusions conjured by gwyndolin.
None of it was real. You ate some mushrooms and you're still trapped in the Northern Undead Asylum.
i thought he was just smough's dick
Dark Souls isn't canon
>canonically his appearance in anor londo in das1 is an illusion
I don't think that's canon. Just because people come to a conclusion doesn't mean it's set in stone. Besides you can't separate your soul from your body in the Souls universe.
Ornstein was summoned by Smough to fight the chosen undead.
It's why smough is such a dick when ornstein dies first. Fucking noob phantoms.
Yes. Time is convoluted. He both left and stayed.
The one that stayed eventually died to the CU.
The one that left is from a world where the CU hollowed (stopped playing).
Dark souls lore is fake and gay
Dark Souls 3 takes place in a timeline where Dark Souls 1 didn't happen.
The Ornstein you fight in DaS1 is real, however in DaS3 since the events of DaS1 never happen, eventually Ornstein gets bored and leaves Smough alone.
Technically only brahman is real
source: user's ass
No
Still not real
Same goes for the silver knights, but they're still an illusion.
Is this seriously the only weird thing you noticed in the fantasy game Dark Souls?
>Yes. Time is convoluted
This only works for co-op summoning, retard
Everything is fucking weird in dark souls and almost none of it is explained.
You can literally travel through time by hitting a wall in DS3.
>time is convoluted
No. Fuck off with that shit. Dark Souls lore still makes sense without using bs time logic in every scenerio.
Your mom is convoluted on this dick.
>The one that left is from a world where the CU hollowed (stopped playing).
Fuck off with that.
Anyone else think the best DS3 lore addition was the revelation Smough never abandoned his post, and was remembered as a true and loyal knight?
Feels good that cannibal bro got his day in the end.
>Vaati has to come up with excuse for his shitty fanfic-tier theories to be canon
>Makes up time and place are convulted bullshit
>Myiazaki actually falls for it because he is too lazy to fill all the plot holes
Say it with me, Myiahacki
Can we all agree that Dark Souls 2 ruined the lore by introducing the cycle meme?
DaS3 had to work with the heap of shit DaS2 ledt behind and that's horrible.
1. who?
2. the time and space thing was in DaS canonically
But cycle thing was obvious since first game? 2´s lore was just side story anyway. You go around collecting crowns to reverse hollowing. Instead of trying to blame 2 you should accept that 3 is dog shit
>2 and 3 are not canon
This, basically. Fuck the sequels, they were only made for money.
>Solaire methaphorically says that time and place are convulted
>Solaire an NPC that talks bullshit 24/7 and has absolutelly no way of knowing about time and place being convulted
>This is somehow canon
I hate DS2 as much as the next guy, but the "cycles" angle was a logical extension of the theory that the original fire will inevitable fade as it did after the Age of Fire, which predates DS2. Although I agree that DS2 took what was supposed to be a monumental decision in DaS and retconned it to be utterly meaningless.
If Ornstein is an illusion then what's Smough supposed to be.
Reminder that Miyazaki has literally said the lore in DaS games are an afterthought and you tards are putting way more thought and effort into it than FromSoft ever did.
No, it's a video game
>he thinks Miyazaki watches vaati and that he doesn't make up bullshit so people can piece together a wider amount of theories
But Dark Souls 2 immediately realized the cycle meme was trash so it introduced one of the best npcs in the series - Aldia
Who is promptly never brought up, fuck das3
>You can summon Black Iron Tarkus
>A legendary hero you've heard about
>You can loot his rotting corpse not an hour later, but only after you kill the Iron Golem, which by defeating grants the only access to Anor Londo
explain this in a way that doesn't involve time fuckery
>obvious in hindsight
Lol.
It's easy to talk like that but none of you expected the sequel to be DaS2 as it is. We linked (or not) the very fist time after Gwyn did it. Yes the cycle was hinted at but no one saw ir coming that the 2 sequels would develop how they are today. DaS2 just shits on everything in that regard by fast forwarding a large amount of time and making everything irrelevant.
Especially playing off the dark lord ending of DaS that way was lazy.
>metaphorically
wrong. we can summon tarkus although he is dead already as an example
also the whole DLC
>Gilligan's body in the profaned capital
You sure?
He was there, you just couldn't see him.
>I hate DS2 as much as the next guy,
Yeah you can suck my dick. DS2 is objectively the best Souls Game.
The new DaS3 item descriptions imply that Ornstein in DaS1 was indeed an illusion created by Gwyndolin. Smough is stated to be the last knight who remained at his post.
Does this make any sense? Eh, it definitely feel like a ret-con. Smough can absorb Ornstein in DaS1 which is odd if he was just an illusion. You also get his soul if you kill him second.
Unfortunately, multiple timelines may be the only way to explain this. Shit writing, but time fuckery has been around since DaS1 so it could easily be true.
this, aldia singlehandedly saved DS2. Too bad myiazacki hates 2 as much as everyone else here so we won´t see what the fuck is he doing
This is why sequels should not be made. everything cool in the first gets turned into dumb fanfiction
I thought smough wasn't a knight because he was too barbaric for that title
So what's the deal with Nito?
>Seathe went crazy in his attempts to become immortal
>the witch of Izalith turned herself into an enormous, demon spawning tree monster
>the four kings got corrupted by the abyss
I get that the other three holders of the Lord Souls have essentially become monsters and need to be put down, but isn't Nito the same as he always was?
Surely the chosen undead could have been able to get Nito work with him instead of just killing him and taking his soul, especially if you were a Gravelord servant.
Yes. In his own world. He comes to your world, your time, when you check out his summon signature.
Solaire knows how summoning works, he's the king of Jolly Cooperation. He's been summoned and doing summoning long enough for him to get off on it. He knows his shit when time and space is convoluted, with heroes centuries old phasing in and out, because he's probably killed the Taurus Demon eighty times with other people and then had to face him himself.
Smough couldn't be one of Gwyn's Knights because he was too barbaric, and at that point, the knights were all gone. Ornstein was a joke, Artorias fell to the Abyss, Ciaran cried herself to death beside Artorias' grave, and Gough was "blind" and spitting distance from the site where Artorias got an ass full of Manus' Dark Beads. The Knights of Gwyn were no more. Gwyndolin was still there and held some royal authority, so to dub him a knight and satisfy his dream would probably earn some extra but much needed loyalty from the fat cannibal.
Maybe Pinwheel draining his power made him crazy, I dunno.
History and multiple world resets have a funny way of changing how people are remembered.
He was rejected from being one of gwyn's 4 elite knights. Artorias, Gough, Ciaren, and Ornstein. I assume he was still in a knight-like position.
Where are the silver knights being explained as an illusion? Something I miss in 3?
Since Nito is basically Death, why would he give a fuck about helping anything live?
Frampt just tells you to kill him as he's outlived his usefulness. Likely your character just does what he's told in that aspect or Nito just doesn't want to give up his lordsoul.
They all disappear when you kill Gwyndolin and the fake sun goes out in DS1
What I wanna know is how the fuck was Gough so fucking stupid that he didn't realize that he wasn't blind? Did he just never ever remove his helmet? He doesn't seem very stupid when you talk to him.
High WIS, low INT basically.
He was a giant after all and they don't appear to the smartest. He has something naive and child like about him. Not as much as the blacksmith but still.
Better than endless shitposting.
but it's fun to talk about it
>kill illusion
>get soul of ornstein
Really makes you think.
...
The moonlight butterfly and iron golem had souls too and they were artificial creatures.
I never noticed they disappear, I guess because I was teleporting around at that point.
>artificial creatures
maybe they were powered by souls
Maybe the silver knights are suits of armor animated by soul magic and not illusions, which would explain how they do damage and drop souls.
And that's just it isn't it, you can debate for days but nothing is ever explained in the game.
Yeah he was real.
Who is the retard that started this now?
And no he isnt Nameless King.
Yes, because we get his REAL soul.
Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 are full of plotholes and are non-cannon metafiction.
Fuck Miyazaki.
>I don't like it so it's not canon
Ah this old meme. Enjoy your head-canon you fucking loser.
The description of Ornstein's soul makes it clear we killed Ornstein...
But perhaps the "canon" take on what happens with Ornstein isn't we did in DS1 ourselves.
When will people learn that he sees through the mouth of his helm?
isn't what*
Maybe we just killed Ornstein twice
the ornstein in 2 is not the same ornstein from 1 or 3
the souls universe works in cycles, and each cycle will have similar elements and patterns
think of it like poetry, it rhymes
(or the ending to bioshock infinite with all the lighthouses)
This is also possible, souls can be used to resurrect the dead as we learn in DS1.
It's entirely possible that Ornstein's soul fell into possession of someone else at some point and was simply used to resurrect Ornstein.
Ah yes of course. He just respawned at the closest bonfire, was embarassed he got beaten by a literally-who and then fucked off in search of dragons.
Well that could be just as likely as any other explanation.
The silver knights do not disappear. The Giant Sentinels do, as well as the gargoyles, but the Silver Knights stay in place.
"Time is convoluted" is not the same as "There's a multiverse."
There is only one timeline, and everything must fit within it.
But user, only cursed humans respawn at bonfires, and Ornstein is clearly a god.
I don't know if it was the best, but yes, I thought it was a very nice touch.
>clearly a god
"clearly" why?
He's not that much larger than the player until he absorbs smough,
Humans don't grow. Gods do.
Ornstein is weak against Occult, Smough isn't
As opposed to the first game that was made out of love and goodwill towards men and women everywhere?
Nito is the god of death and the underworld in a world so unstable that nothing is actually dying. That's why he's asleep.
Where did that come from? I don't recall about soul resurection but it sounds legit n
Vaati is a faggot and his voice is retardedly annoying. I hope he chokes on a myriad bag of dicks as they cum on his triple deep v-neck t-shirts.
Considering they had statues of him in Anor Londo, he probably was of an equal to the black/silver knights.
Wasn't the Iron Golem powered by a dragon soul?
You make the dragon bone fist from it don't you?
>why a god
He would be a part of Gwyn's species, which are "gods".
The silver and black knights are also "gods".
Doesn't the description of "his" soul just state Gwyn gave it to him. Presumably he'd have his original one as well.
>Where did that come from? I don't recall about soul resurection but it sounds legit n
Firekeeper Anastacia
>Soul serving as the core of the Iron Golem, guardian of Sen's Fortress, and slayer of countless heroes seeking Anor Londo.
>Originally a bone of an everlasting dragon.
How Can Ornstein Be Real If Anor Londo Isn't Real?
The only thing in anal rodeo that isn't real is the giant lamp in the sky.
Has thou forgotten this one? As it should be...
Don't talk about my wife like that.
No. Smough probably was though.
Ornstein went on an adventure to find the Nameless King again.
