Bloodstained graphically BTFO by a 1997 game

3D was a mistake

>1997 game made by the same guy

>3D was a mistake
It really was. Why didn't they go 2d?

Not sure if the former looks better, but the bottom picture looks pretty bad.

what went so wrong?

The demo level looked good, footage from that short demo of a new incomplete level is just pure shitposting.

With least 20 slaves doing sprites in dank basement and never getting recoqnized for their work because you want to keep good sprite artists to yourself.

nobody is talking about level design here, we're pointing how shitty and artificial the 3D looks in comparison to a 20 year old 2D game

why is alucard red
did capes change his transformed colours?
I don't remember

Sup Forums on indie games:
indie game does 2D = retro indie garbage
indie game does 3D = modern indie garbage

Yes, the bat color depends on the cape you're using

Is pixel art really more expensive than what they're using?

Why not use pixels or make it cell shaded like Viewtiful Joe?

Yeah, you're talking about a level that's graphically incomplete, that's why it's soo empty and lifeless compared to that demo that had animations and particle effects.

>rotating pixels
>BTFO anything

There are pretty good looking 2D and 3D indie games, the image OP posted is just a shitty one

Nobody here ever complained about Shantae and Owlboy.

>Using the saturn version

>sprites look better than low poly low res simplified mobile device certified 3d models
WOW!!!!

>"graphically incomplete"

I truly doubt so.

A decent-looking 2D game is definitely going to cost a sum. SotN in its original state would cost pennies to make now.

Any sort of stylization costs money, so maybe they are marketing Bloodstained as looking like figurines to avoid having to work on 3D past its default plastic look.

yes, game where the same guy came in to play halfway into development

much like Inafune
