This faggot right here. He's not even an overly aggressive civilization, he's just a disloyal cunt 90% of the time. Almost every playthrough I've allied with him he turned on me at the worst possible time at some point.

In one game as Korea, he had the biggest military on the map and his empire completely surrounded and land-locked my 4 city civilization. I literally did everything I could to ally with him, I converted his ENTIRE Empire to my religion, gave him gifts regularly, trade/research agreements, etc, and the fucker would still attack me out of nowhere for no reason and then go right back to being my ally.

So, is VI any good?

It may just be me, but the AI in VI seems to be a lot less brain dead now. Before I could steam roll them on Diety because they would be stuck in medieval forever, but they seem to be able to keep up now.

Yeah. There are nice things like cities not being able to attack until you have walls that make early game fun af.

I haven't played it in a while but the consensus seems to be that it's a solid base game but there's little room for choice or strategizing.

Single-player is top tier comfy, though. Especially if you fuck around with the era durations.

the civ ai will always declare war on you if it thinks you'll be a pushover, it has done this since at least civ4 and probably earlier
