there was no reason not to choose Donatello
it was kind of the flaw to those old TMNT games that he was so much better than the others with the range of the bo

Raf. Now what?

Man, I miss super Nintendo

Fucking this.

Donnie>Mikey>Raph>Leo. You can't dispute this.

I just miss good TMNT games

Raph>Leo

Leo was the second long ranged turtle. Tied with mikey, but miky was a bit more slow.

Raph was cucked everywhere in every game since was the weakest and the lowest rangered.

Donnie main, Mike for fun.

Also anybody play that tmnt game for ps4? Is it any good even nostalgia good?

which game are you talking about? The last one I knew about was that awful Platinum one. Was that on PS4?

Fuck yes I meant ps4 I know it's not new but it's the newest I think.

The cover art looks legit I was hoping it was at least fun.

Is that bad? I was thinking in buy it for nostalgia, but pretty much every review was negative.

>that horrible designs

IDW was a mistake.

>NES Dam Level
>"Okay Raph you're up"

fuck this piece of shit game

they knew how to lure in Turtles nostaliga fags like me by having T.U.R.T.L.E. Power playing on the main menu but the game was complete ass and the Turtles looked like a diseased pollops on Gamera's asshole

FUCK YOU

Shit I don't know I thought it was ok I know it's not tmnt3 for Nes but it still looks kinda hype.

I choose Don__

Yeah it's pretty bad, it SEEMS cool at first but very quickly the flaws are glaring and when I played at least I couldn't tell if it was glitchy or the game was legit designed ass backwards

It's a real fucking shame really because the turtles are going through a renaissance these past few years but there's NO good games in sight, whereas back in the late 80's and 90's even the stuff on handhelds like Radical Rescue and Fall of the Foot Clan were solid games worth a purchase.

Last good one was 22 years ago.

...

EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET EAT FEET

All where solid because Konami was awesoem back then.

I miss the good turtles games, but also I miss the good konami era.

How is there no SEWER SURFIN in this thread? very disappointed, Sad.

>22 years

Well hang on, I...

>TMNT IV
>August 1992

Jesus fucking Christ...
Alright, who do we have to lynch to get the modern equivalent of this? I mean, I have a beat em up series and story in mind, but it's not the Turtles, just a cover band.

of course, it really was a bygone era

Raphael for Turtles in Time and comics.

Donatello for everything else.

What the hell is up with modern TMNT designs? They're all so fucking nightmarish. The design did not need to be change but every single modern iteration of them perverts them even more.

Let´s be honest here

Old turtle games was great because the old cartoon was perfect for videogame stuff with all that b-movie vibe, from the music to the visuals and turtles personalities.

New cartoons/movies are too serious sometimes and too story driven to be translated to an action game, turtles are less goffy and the music is not memorable anymore.

i still remember a password for a advanced level of the game:

DCCPMH

this game is fun as fuark

MUH TURTLU

>we will never have another turtles game as rad as turles in time

Maybe it's for the best

youtube.com/watch?v=fH-lLbHbG-A

Obviously Donatello has the best range, which has natural benefits, but Raphael is cool but rude, so I have to choose Ralph.

>New cartoons/movies are too serious sometimes and too story driven to be translated to an action game, turtles are less goffy and the music is not memorable anymore.

Then that's a comment on new Turtles media.

If the damn '80's cartoon had just stayed in the vein of the first 5 episodes and not really deviated into cringe comedy or fucking Red Sky-mantra capeshit, we wouldn't have had all these horrible reboots.

>Raph the weakest
TMNT:IV speedrunners will unanimously disagree

I think you're right to an extent but what's stopping devs from just picking and choosing their own style of TMNT from across the franchise history? The 2012 cartoon and IDW series strike a good blend between serious and cartoony also.

Raph is que fastest turtle of all, thats why every speedrunner choose him.

>Donatello does machines
that's why you all pick him, because him and his machine waifus are relatable

Reboots would've been inevitable regardless of what the 80's cartoon did

Let's be real here, the only time that Don's range is critical in the Beat Em Ups is The Manhattan Project.

2 relies on the jumpslash, and 4's slamming plus the boss patterns allow you to use whomever you want.

TMNT4 is truly GOAT.

Technodrome is read as fuck.

You pick Don because the NES game is near impossible without him. Raph and Mikey are just for sacrificing in that game.

Granted, but would they have been so terrible and aimless?

Since they came from the world of comics, possibly so, but if the '80's show had been well-executed and consistently good, there would have been more pressure to stick to its formula (I think).

Goddamn it, that's why I couldn't make progress in that game.

Also, my DOS box way back when ran at like 1 FPS.

Well it's kind of interesting, the 1990 movie tried to split the difference between the Mirage comics and the cartoon, then the 2003 series pushed hard to be the antithesis of the 80's cartoon (and I think it's more fondly remembered for it's more serious tone as a result), but the 2012 series and even Michael Bay's garbage tried to rectify both tones and take what they can from across the entire franchise history. So it's like a constant kind of back and forth thing with the tone going on over the years.

Do you mean you were emulating the NES game? There is a DOS port of the original NES game but the port is so bad you literally can't finish the game without cheating. In one level the platforms are designed in a way that makes it impossible to advance.

>you will never get the game that's even MORE RAD than TMNT IV

I assure you, this hell we're living in is much worse than any hell we can think of.

The IDW comics are my favorite version of the turtles.

>not picking based leo and choppin' bitches
>or picking michaelangelo and helicoptering motherfuckers to death
>or donatello for sickkassss range
>raph sucked tho

IIRC

Leo is always balanced
Mikey is strong with decent range
Don is weak and slow but with XBOX heug range
Raph is stronk and fastish with low range

>live in the era of crossovers
>nostaliga is big these days
>it STILL hasn't happened

I don't even know why there's been darker tones since - just refine the damn movies' themes.

Nope, the DOS port. My parents bought it for me, but that's very pre-Internet, so you know that we had no way of knowing what you just said (much less that it running like crap was the norm or not).

Well at least we got an HD Remaster of it, right? Oh wait

There could never be a game radder than Turtles in Time.
Dinosaurs? Pirate ships? Baxter the Fly as the first boss?
Those fucking pizza aliens from that one episode where their eggs were disguised as olives?
Holy shit.

I do not even understand how it happened, everyone agreed a platinum tmnt game would be awesome and yet activision fucked it up how did they pull it off.

I mean yes some of it might be platinums fault, like they said they wanted it to be like the old arcade games with a focus on simple combat. But shit like the random events had to be activision

>single player
>HMM, WHO SHOULD I CHOOSE

Probably why I'm a Leo guy.
Not to mention I'm being Leo's role when I hosted multiplayer and taught people how to play as well as DON'T STAND NEAR THAT TIGER PORTRAIT HOLY FUUUUUUUU

I usually went with Leo because I liked his swords and blue was my favorite color. I'd also use Don for his range.

Damn. I had a TMNT DOS game where the whole thing was on some kind of timer and you traveled around the city. I had no idea what the fuck it was about as a kid that could barely read.

certainly Activision fucked up like usual but faith in Platinum certainly was tarnished after both that Avatar game and TMNT

You mean Manhattan Missions, with one of the most fucked up control schemes I've ever suffered in a PC game
Great fucking ending too yeah let's have one grinning policeman arrest the Shredder and have a barbecue on the roof

Yeah, I beat that on Hardcore after some doing.
Super Shredder is hilariously easy, considering.

Oh hell yeah. Think big. Throw some other mutants in, unlock to where you can play as Splinter or Usagi or Casey Jones, more hype music, better mechanics, weirder/showcase other iconic enemies, cooler backdrops, shit would be amazing.

The PS2 era TMNT games were pretty solid btw, at least the second one.

>who do we have to lynch
footfags

The truth is 1990 movie was aimed to be a direct adaptation or Mirage comics, but the producers realized how it will impossible to do a popular movie without reference the animated series.

Its a middle point, since is not gritty and bloody like the comics, and the turtles have their personalities right from the cartoon, along the pizza, cowabunga, colored mask and reporter April

Turtles are popular because of the original cartoon, thats why any other reboot or movie that tried too hard to evade it, its usually a big failure.

Its sad because kamiya has said he was a big tmnt fan and had no part in it, said he was a star fox fan and had no part in it and both those games sucked. who ever was the director of korra and tmnt should be fired.

I really hope we get another platinum tmnt game, since acti did not renew their game rights for it and the next publisher realizes how great the combo should have been.

I am not saying platinum is the perfect choice but when people have been saying since devil may cry 3 came out a game like that for the turtles would have been perfect it makes sense when they are still considered one of the best in the genre

I am just rambling because there really is nowhere turtle fans can voice their issues and be heard

Oh man, those days.

I've always wanted to see the movie world continued in a video game, with versions of the other characters like Baxter Stockman or Rat King
Really I just want that old grungy New York to explore and jump around as the movie Turtles

the thicc one ofc

Yeah I was really stunned at the time how bad the game was with Platinum at the helm, but clearly it was their B-Team. But what hurt me worse was Transformer fags got an at least decent game from Platinum but Turtles fans got fucked again.

Is the SNES port of TIT the best?

>Comic coloration option
>Technodrome
>Bebop and Rocksteady given the Pirate level
>Prehistoric Turtlesaurus given a much better boss

Raph actually does only a slight bit less damage than Don, but his range is indeed crap.

I just give boomerangs to Mike and Raph so they can be useful, but Don indeed does all the heavy lifting. Even Leo's katana becomes useless as the game goes on unless he's in critical mode.

Wasn't the 2003 series pretty well received and popular?

Old NYC is dead in real life too.My parents moved us out of Long Island City because the streets were lined with trash and a porn shop openend across the street. Now it's clean yuppie town with Mets players living in high rises.

RAPH BOYS where we at

Is this from Tournament Fighters story mode?

I know it dude I just moved out of the state myself, I miss when movies and games back in the 80's and 90's would always have an obligatory trash-strewn street, empty crumbling lots or vacant warehouse, it's all gone now except maybe some areas of Queens.

>IDW

I try, but I cant like IDW turtles, feels like a mix of everything I love and hate of this 30 years of turtle franchise.

Also, turtle design is atrocious.

The IDW turtles comics are great though

It was a mixed bag. Top view in some areas, slow as fuck gameplay, OST was terrible.

It have nice visuals and some areas/enemy was really cool.

I feel it was partly transformers fault, not gameplay wise, that was exactly what I wanted from the tmnt game, just have the dpad switch turtles on the fly but with out the stupid hold r1 to do it feature which was only there because for some reason items took priority over switching on the fly

it seems to be a common theme with the guys who made korra and tmnt mostly the same team and both have a perfect use for the dpad, turtle switching and element switching but instead the dpad is focused on items.

Back to my point though transformers did not sell well so I feel activision demanded more input for tmnt to try and make sure tmnt sold like hotcakes because if you guys remember hasbro last year said transformers devastation was supposed to get a sequel but it did not sell nearly enough to have hasbro approve it

I liked their Turtles in Time adaptation but what has put me off the most from IDW is the bizarre reincarnation thing going on. Even for TMNT this makes me stop and think about how weird this idea is. Why would four Japanese boys reincarnate as turtles instead of humans? But even supposing we follow this logic of being reincarnated as animals, why would their father reincarnate as a rat instead of a turtle too? If there was some divine plan to have them reincarnated as animals, who then mutate into humanoid mutants, why not just bring them back as humans? It just doesn't seem to add much of anything worthwhile to me.

SLICE N' DICE

The SNES / Genesis era had the best TMNT art.

no surprise they overcompensated and fucked up even worse than with Transformers, a complete shitshow honestly

I always chose Donatello, but him being kinda broken was secondary to that. He was just my favorite, the one I related with the most.

Yes and not.

Was well received by critics and fans, but was never that popular as the original cartoon. Nickelodeon show is far more popular, at least with viewers and merchandising.

This. The japanese approach to TMNT was fucking glorious.

NES was good too.

Definitely. Only thing holding it back is the lack of 4-player, which is the sole reason I play the arcade version every once in a while.

>The japanese approach to TMNT was fucking glorious.

youtube.com/watch?v=jwqKg76GJCo

the ads were great too in those days

This thread needs some good remixes.

youtube.com/watch?v=VcO0q1iRG9s

well they explain that, they were not reincarnated, kraang took dna samples of them

Not him but I've been enjoying the IDW series though I've only read up to about issue #30 or so. As for the designs I think it really depends on who's doing the art.

IDW Beobop and Rocksteady are fantastic though.

Mike every time.

He was the best balance of speed, defense and strength.

>IDW

best case scenario for tmnt games
>new publisher works with konami to rerelease the old beat em ups as a collection with online play at least tmnt arcade and hyperstone heist.
>works with wb to make a batmna arkham series crossover based on the batman tmnt crossover comic
>platinum gets to make a real idw tmnt game

Pretty rad.

Raph because red and because he's the most badass and masculine.

Goddamn TMNT Tournament Fighter had the GOAT soundtrack
