can graphics get any better
Can graphics get any better
...
Once graphics have firmly plateaud (and it won't be for a long time... we're not getting 1000hz 8k games any time soon) stylization will become the new focus, just like how art c hanged to focus on abstraction once the camera was invented.
>1000hz
Uhhh
Wow Breath of the Wild looks better than I remembered
>can graphics get any better
I want to play voxel games in VR....I want to go inside SNES games and live there forever.....
sure
...
pic not related right? everything just looks like shit. like what part exactly is graphically impressive in it?
I fucking hope so, because that has quite a number of flaws
Sounds like escapism. Hope your life gets better, friend
...
I unironically love the almost monochromatic vibrant color pallet that gives it that fake bloom stylization of Witcher 3
Horizon does look pretty good, user
I wish they had focused on good gameplay instead of graphics
too bad graphics can't stop a game from fundamentally being shit
Those graphics look comfy as fuck
that is also true
>tfw videogame aesthetics will become as shitty as dadaism and postmodern art
On PC yes but console hell no.
ONLY
POSSIBLE
ON
PS4
Graphics won't get better than Arma 3 because Arma 3 is close to real life, the only problem with it is that it gets worse further away
So the only way to make graphics better now is to do Arma 3 graphics but increasing the distance at which the graphics is the same as right in front of you
...
...
>those fucking textures
Can't wait for computers that can run ARMA like this at an acceptable framerate
I remember thinking that Gran Turismo looked photo realistic - looking back at it now it's amazing how our perspective changes.
...
Something about Witcher III's style is inherently ugly ever since they downgraded it. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what it is, but nearly every screenshot and footage of the game looks graphically unappealing.
Vaginal discharge in glorious (upscaled 1440p) 4K!
I really hope so. I'd take Gravity Rush 2 every day over the same MUH REALISM shit AAA western games tries to push. Nigga if I want realism I just get out of my house
Is this from a farming simulator? Looks boring as fuck.
...
>grass and shrubs don't move at all
>sand and cacti that isn't right at the point of impact also don't move at all and debris just phases through them
Yeah, real impressive
I bet Aloy is having vaginal leakage in that image!
Cute purging of the uterus! CUTE!
So basically, once again nintendo is decades ahead of its time with games like BotW.
Looks cool. What movie is this?
Right there with you user. The 16bit era was comfy as fuck my dudes.
>What movie is this?
'The never everâ„¢ story'
Honestly, I still think STALKER has great graphics
>pretty pictures with unstable 30 fps and some of the worst character animations sans Bioware
You can keep it, to be honest
Why is Dice always the leader in graphical fidelity? When BF3 came out, people thought it was amazing.
BF4 was basically the same as BF3, with slight upgrades here and there.
But BF1 is another step up.
Most beautiful grafix ever.
She's still just clipping through all the vegetation. C'mon, the newer Assassin's Creeds can manage to have grass and bushes that bend and deform when the player walks through them.
I want ro play witcher 3 but when I do Geralt controls like garbage and combat is press button to spin in random direction.
How can people tolerate this?
God, I certainly hope so.
>youtube.com
>you can't even interact with the environment
Why are western devs so creatively bankrupt and lazy?
>First time I ever saw a bloodsucker
>See glowing yellow something
>Get closer
>Starts running towards me
>Can't see shit cause it's dark as shit
>Nope as fast as I fucking can out of there
>Waste almost all of my ammo trying to kill it
>Die anyway to bandits down the hall
...
Battlefield maps aren't as big as an open world game, therefore you can make it look better, just how a corridor game can be made to look much better than open world games by having way less stuff to render.
How did Slavs achieve such GRAFFIX
Seriously though, the lighting in Clear Sky is amazing
Battlefield has quite large and open maps though.
They manage to make them look really nice for how big they are.
And BF1 is just another example of how well graphics can be progressed given the space.
...
BotW too.
My guess is it's difficult to bend some of the plants (those with flowers specifically), and it would look weird.
Some games with foliage that move when you go through it can look really sketchy at certain angles.
>Shots without HUD look good
>Shots with HUD look like crap
Hmm, really gets the noggin joggin.
just like every single Horizon screenshot or video I've ever seen
>detailed impressive enrvironment for only 30-50 feet around you
same shit with Guerillas own Killzone Shadowfall. It looks good up close but they design the game so that anything not right next to you is either obstructed from view or a bland LOD rendering
>Is this from a farming simulator? Looks boring as fuck.
Looks like real life
Tons of bloom and fancy colors and laughable view distance, like Horizon don't look like real life
There's a difference between realistic graphics and video-gameish graphics
If you want the unrealistic graphics, then what will matter is the world design and the environment and not looking as close to real life as possible
The only way you could improve realistic graphics is to make them look like Arma 3, but without the graphics becoming worse in the distance (pic related is all open world)
We all remember our first time happening upon bloodsuckers. And psuedodogs, who are not as bad but still A SHIT
Photo mode looks the same as normal game exceot optionsfor exposure and DoF. People just don't use photomode to take images of ugly stuff.
Many textures pop in very late, I've noticed. Especially friendly NPC models.
this man speaks truth
>Photo mode looks the same as normal game exceot optionsfor exposure and DoF.
Then post a photo mode shot and an in-game shot of the exact same scene.
I'll wait.
>footage of botw running in a broken emulator
>jurassic park theme on harmonica
>comparisons to pre-rendered concept art
What even is this?
OK wait like 3 minutes.
Consolefags use photo mode to make the game look as good as possible then act like that's what the game looks like.
And by consolefags, I mean Sonyfags.
If I wanted to see real life I would step outside. Even staring out of my window right now looks more interesting than whatever the fuck these screenshots are supposed to be showing.
I'm not even going to click on that because the title doesn't address my criticism
>What even is this?
The power of Switch.
Colours suddenly made a return and they said fuck off to the sharpening filter. That's literally it.
this
niiiggaaaaa
It's snowing like crazy. Hold on.
Yes. They always do.
you don't understand, the only way the graphics can get better now is by world design and environment and resolution, not by graphics technology itself, because it's really close to real life now, and there is no graphics better than real life
remember when metal gear solid 2 came out for the ps2 back then? we all thought that was going to be the pinnacle of graphics.
Go play the new hunter game or the new ghost recon game and not only do they look better but they run better too
Shits too bright.
Devs need to stop focusing on graphics at the expense of everything else. The more detailed games get, the more obvious the limitations become especially when all the little clutter they add is bolted in place.
Take
for example. If a scene like that was actually in a game, all the stuff on the table, or the pillows on the chair, or the books on the shelves would all be immovable because it would fuck with the lighting otherwise
Yea no, GRW definitely doesn't look better than Arma 3, and in my case it doesn't run better either.
that has to be the most impressive screencap i have ever seen. it's the scale + detail + draw distance that sets a3 apart from everything else. i really wish they would implement these draw distances into dayz standalone.
They need to upgrade/optimize the engine. Is it at least 64bit yet?
It is 64 bit now, but it still has some optimization issues, such as being heavily single-threaded.
Here's in game.
Next is photo mode.
>modern western game that actually has COLOR in it
I applaud them.
YOU SEE THAT MOUNTAIN?
And photo mode.
Identical.
Jesus christ is this what it actually looks like?
Looks horrible. How does it look on the "upgraded" ps4? I forgot what it was called. Starts with an S I think.
only if you're less than 100 feet away
Is it autism?
>Textures look just like the textures in
Confirmed accurate, looks like other anons are posting doctored images.
The other images being posted are all promotional shots. The game is pretty ugly but at least it all blends together well.
Got it confused.
Xbox One S
Playstation 4 Pro
Nah, I think the difference is that the other images just have all the grass and bushes to cover up the shitty ground textures. And the grass only seems to look good when the camera is up close and to the side of the grass rather than above it like
It's 64 bit on the dev branch but not on the full release yet too bad it'll break most mods on first release.
At its worst. Yes.
All textures when looking down at an area are bad or awful, and often sometimes textures load in slowly in cities.
It's on a PS4 Pro. I don't know if there are differences outside slightly better texture filtering.
All images I've seen in this thread look like they're taken with photo mode.
Jesus christ, the more I see the worse it looks.
Why can't PS4 into shadows?
