Hey Sup Forums, I just bought image related.
Anything I should know before I dive in?

Actually yes.

XV itself exists as part of the XV universe so here is the order you should do it.

Watch kingsglaive first. Watch the dawn trailer after that. Listen to the drama CD after that, just search on youtube for dawn trailer and FFXV prologue drama CD. Then start the game, then when at chapter 6 watch the brotherhood anime also on youtube, then resume the game. There is going to be new story scenes added on March 28th to chapter 13, as well as character DLC for the other three party members with the first also on March 28th.

Gladio episode DLC takes place during chapter 7. This is coming March 28th.
Ignis episode DLC takes place during chapter 9. This date is TBA but most likely September
Prompto episode DLC takes place during chapter 12 and leads into chapter 13. Coming in June.
Besides that there may be some other updates later on.

It's not very good. Not terrible, but reign in your expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised at least.

It isn't worth it for the shitty ass ending.

The ending is literally the best FF ending yet.

it's a solid 6/10

(which is a really really good score, you know)

It's 8/10 at the lowest.

Purchase the skills that allow you to rack up AP while doing bullshit (driving, fishing, taking photos, cooking, riding chocobos, using magic, etc.) first. You'll be swimming in abilities by endgame.

Also get Regroup for Ignis as soon as possible possible, it can heal the whole party. Saved my ass countless times.

>need to do homework before playing the game

Prepare for the shittiest sidequests ever put in a video game.

Chapter 13 is fucking terrible.

Use your magic. Friendly fire scares some players away from it but it's an inconvenience to your party at worst for the really enormous damage it can deal.

Nah, a 6/10 suits it perfectly
It's an ok game

They should include an accessory later that lets you cast magic without friendly fire, kinda like they did with the exp 0 accessory

Nothing, it's too late now.

I'm currently playing it and I'm at chapter 13 or 14, I don't remember.
Anyway, does this game has a godd replayability value?
I spent a lot of time doing hunting and side quests but damn, they were boring as fuck.
Are there things to search for like special/ultimate weapons ?

Also, I heard that there's a way to go back in the "past" and roam around the world again when you're in chapters like the last ones. But how do I do that, I searched in items and menus but didn't find that option.

I don't feel like there's much replay value at all.
There's endgame dungeons and quests to get some special equipment. Of note are a level 99 dungeon where healing items are disabled and a parkour dungeon from hell.

Talk to Umbra at an Inn to go back.

What inn ? I'm at the moment where the car got destroyed

Gotta finish it before Persona 5 comes out, I'm in chapter 13 now, I'm hoping to finish it this weekend, or in mabye 2 weekends.

Oh man you're about to hit the worst part of the game. You poor thing.

Luna dies.
Glasses dude gets blind
Everyone dies in the end.

Oh, jeeze. Good luck, my guy. I actually liked that chapter but the popular opinion is that it's horrendous.
I think you've gone too far and will have to wait for a while. You can't access the superdungeons for the best equipment until the story is cleared anyway.

Fuck...
But since there are only 15 chapters, it means I'll really have to finish the story to access the whole world again ?

You know, the thing about chapter 13 and the platforming dungeon is that they were both cool at first but then they overstay their welcome by a good 2 extra hours
They really should have just trimmed it a bit and it would have been fine

There's a very obvious point of no return and an accessible Umbra-available Inn there.

Nah, a little bit after you finish chapter 13 there is a way to return to the world

Okay, thank m8s

An incomplete game, with retard devs who fell for the open world meme. Sidequests are shit, nothing interesting in the open world, main story is garbage, 0 character development. Highly flawed combat system, and item use design is straight up dumb.

You can return to the open world at any point you want from any inn/lodgings
Also some of the inns are a bit "hidden" once you get to the main story section but just walk around and you'll find them, usually in trains or shelter rooms

that's it really

Get the gain AP for casting magic ability immediately and cast 1 point spells in every fight, you'll gain tons more AP. Iggy's Enhancement and Overwhelm techs (especially pairing Bow of the Clever with the latter) are amazing. Every boss that can be poisoned should be. Magic is easier to boost in the campaign, you can grab the Bow in Chapter 2 from Balouvre Mines (poison the boss from up top) and the Scepter in Chapter 6. Some weapons boost offensive stats, big ones are Sword of the Father/Wise, Bow, Scepter, Axe, Ulric's Kukri's and Wizard Shield. Armiger plus Muscle Stimulant plus the better Equalizer or always Crit food buffs destroys bosses.
