i didnt think it was that bad..

having only a hand full of masks with stupid gimmicks instead of letting us choose one like the first game.

Nothing. It´s one of my top three favorite games

Nothing went wrong, what are you talking about?

They made the game so the missions don't become repetitive by adding a lot of characters and showing some background on characters from the previous game

HM1 just feels like a series of levels you want to get over with in order to get a bit more story

Too many glass windows in maps that were too large. Enemies could shoot you out of seemingly nowhere, so you were fighting with the camera zoom more than anything else.

This was unfortunately the bulk of the gameplay.

Nothing.

It's a good game that didnt meet your expectations.

Number

>wrong
story
>right
editor and workshop

this, if the levels were more condensed it would've been pretty cool

Single levels that literally had the same amount of enemies in the whole of Hotline Miami.
Melee invuln fatties mixed in with regular mooks so melee is kinda fucked.
Glass windows everywhere with too many ranged enemies with ESP.

>story
I bet you think the story was bad because it tells you what some shit you see in HM1 means

Git gud, only on hard mode windows become a problem

Nothing. The mask variety hardly matters because once you got gud there was no reason to use anything other than Zack in the original game anyway, and that was part of the problem too: It was way too easy to master. People bitch about the openess and the amount of windows and guys with guns in HM2, but at least that's challenging, unlike HM1's easy to clear compartmentalized rooms.

I beat the game regardless, but you can't deny those are valid flaws about the game.
Mowing down 5 enemies in a huge mob becomes a chore rather than the visceral rush you get from the first game.

Windows

>Git gud

Not an argument. There is nothing enjoyable about slowly and carefully walking around for fear that you'll get shot out of nowhere. No one wants to hold CTRL to zoom out of the map every two seconds, it breaks up the pace of the game-play.

In HM1 you could always see what each room was like prior to entering, you saw the enemy patterns and potential hazards, so you could run in and try multiple methods to clear the levels. It also made for good speed running as well.

In HM2, it's such a fucking letdown. Because you have levels where fucking roller mobster comes on, and you want to go fast and tear shit up but nah, you end up dying because you moved an inch and some patrolling enemy inside a room made of glass that's miles away spotted you.

Sure HM1 was easier, but the rush you got from clearing a floor was also a lot bigger when meleeing enemies in chain. 2 basically forces you to use a gun and abuse corners since the moment you step out in the open you get mowed down by enough gunfire to defeat WW2

I enjoy playing HM2 because of how the story is presented. When you play as Biker in HM1 it reflects my thoughts on the game so well that i still to this day wonder if this was intentional from the developers

>"I want answers, do you hear me? This stupid game is ending now! I'm fucking bored and i want out!"

Also Biker is by far the best character in the game

>edgy emo
>best
Aesthetic yes, but not best by a long shot

>edgy emo

What? Biker has to be one of the least edgy characters in the game. In fact he is the only one who bothers to find out what the fuck is happening and is the only one still alive because he knew to get the fuck out of Miami after he found out the truth

Where do you get edgy from that?

I enjoyed it but it felt waay too opened and less small room to room

Soundtrack was on par with the first one which was great

not enough corey

>What went wrong?

Nothing, it's literally the perfect game in it's genre. Better music, more characters, more lore and story, improves level and gamedesign, godly artwork and high repleay value with a a proper difficulty. 10/10

So, what happened to midnight animal?
I heard it became a dating sim game.

I liked it but hardmode is shit

>using hoxtot
>ever

Also
>hardmode
I'm pretty sure people spent more time trying to beat Dead Ahead on hardmode than what they spent trying to beat the whole game on easy

>lmao, this user must be retarded or something
>look it up
>it's true

Talk about a major shift in tone. I'd never heard of this before.
I'd play it

see It was otherwise a pretty good game. The music was better than the first, and the story is one of my favorites because of how it was told and all of the little hints to include your pic.

Underrated

the game runs fine on windows

a kek for you

-Bad level design where basically only the Writer Levels are even slightly ok the rest are fucking terrible.

-Hard mode is fucking awful and lazy as shit (dead ahead *cough*)

-Major glitches such as the pickup near wall glitch which Dennaton had acknowledge and claimed they would fix 2 times in 2015 and 1 time in 2016. Never fixed.

-The twins 1/4th of the fucking Fans are fundamentally broken, the best and most fun concept in HM2 is fundamentally broken where ash always gets stuck and makes the ability useless.

Tony in HM2 is boring and cancer get triggered fags.

-Music was much more bland and similar than HM1, it's just loud generic Electro with no progression just loud noise, but not even like Gesaffelstein/ Wolfgang Gartner/ Mord Fustang etc.

-The level editor is one of the worst level editor in video games as a whole. It's so fucking bad and lacks so many features from both HM1 and HM2 not to mention the broken ass functions and lack of bulk editing functions like any good editor has

Get triggered faggots
