How's the story in Gaiden? Fates story was fucking horrible and didn't interest me at all. Almost made me not finish Conquest. I know it's mostly about the gameplay with this series, but it'd be nice to have something other than that propel me forward.

The map design in Awakening is on par with Gaiden but Fates blows both out of the water, and map design is the most important part of a fire emblem game.

Supports and forging have been added, so what else could you really add from the 3DS games without completely changing the core of the game? Adding Attack and Guard Stances could go very well like the weapon triangle did for Shadow Dragon where the game was clearly not designed with such things in mind.
