Change graphic setting

>change graphic setting
>restart required

>change graphics card
>restart required

>tfw always hotswapping videocards
Feels good man

>change resolution
>restart required

>lower graphics settings
>fps is still the same

>graphics settings are all in the launch window

I am so glad this practice is dying again

>change CPU
>requires restart

Fucking paradox I swear to god. It's 2017 change that shitty clausewitz engine already.

>anti-aliasing: on/off

>hotswapping hardware in consumer electronics
Is this possible nowadays? I am out of touch with video game tech.

>exit video game
>vidgaem.exe has stopped responding

>"Changing this setting can have a major impact on performance"
>It's just FXAA

>graphics: ultra/very high/high/medium/shit/ps4/amd

>graphics: off

>loading screen needs to finish animation before letting you play

>Try setting pre-rendered frames to 1
>Try changing the process to real time
>Try downgrading your driver
>Try unparking your CPU cores

Placebos

>you have to make actions according to button prompts during cutscenes and if you do it too slowly you lose and have to do the cutscene all over again

>go to graphic settings
>no customizations

>loading screen shows tip
>its either the most basic stuff or obscure shit that never comes to use

>go to graphic settings in game
>vsync and resolution only
>need to use graphic tool
Fuck you witcher 2

>Subtitles not on by default

>exit game
>20 second loading screen

Fuck this

>Hang the system
>Need to reset

>You can't turn on subtitles until after the intro has finished

>on/off options
>they're all fucking sliders

>you can just type vid_restart instead

>Game doesn't tell you if you can pause cutscenes
>Too worried that pressing any buttons will skip a cutscene to find out if you can pause them

>menus always have to load, are slow as shit, laggy, faggy, waste tons of your time, look like shit, make you dread opening it

Why does this get fucked up so much? It was a breath of fresh air that Zelda menus were so quick and snappy despite being on weak hardware.

>graphics options
>no windowed mode

>I happen to bean expert

>It's actually useful info
>Game loads so fast you can't read it
>Loading screen is the only place to see those hints

>auto-detect when first starting up game
>everything set to very low

>exit game
>(game).exe has stopped working...

>graphics options
>no borderless windowed / fullscreen mode

>play on a screen with such high ppi I never have to waste resources using AA
Feels fucking great

Why is this a problem? You exited the game and don't want to play it anymore.

>start up game
>everything is set to low
>MSAA is at 8X

>want to quit Dragons Dogma
>it saves and sends you to the intro screen
>game has to load your settings and save file then finally brings up the main menu which has Exit to desktop on it

I just started force quitting in task manager, too much bullshit

yeah I had bad frame rates on my pentium when playing GTA V so I removed the cooler and put an i7 in the socket instead

didn't even need a restart

>game was made after 2001
>can't alt-tab without crashing

>graphics options
>Doesn't go past 1080p
Nothing pisses me off more depending on the engine it's literally adding a line of extra code.
>No actual options you can change its just fast, good, and beautiful
>No .ini or any kind of file you can edit to change settings
What the fuck is this shit?

WITCHER 3 FUCK YOU I JUST WANT TO LOAD MY GAME. IM IN RAID 0 ON FOUR SSD'S FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

>start/close game
>windows warning sound plays

>use gforce experience
>1080p monitor
>recommends ultra on everything but 1280x720 resolution

>anti-aliasing is set on highest
>still jaggies everywhere

Oh I hate this.

>Post-processing
>on/off

>Old game that doesn't have VSYNC
>Game runs at 6x speed than it originally should have.
I'm looking at you, Driver.

>game actually runs better on high than it does on low
How does this actually happen?

>auto-detect when first starting up game
>everything set to very high with a low resolution

fuck GTA V for this, I want to remove motion blur (putting motion blur slider to lowest does not remove motion blur if you have post process enabled on any setting, it just changes the amount of it) while keeping post process car headlight on highest possible

>can't alt-tab without crashing
Literally the fuckign worst there is

>settings: low/high/very high/ultra

FUCK grw

>starts game
>*critical error sound*
>game still plays perfectly

>download more ram
>no restart required
xbox wins again

>loading screen shows a tip or a piece of lore
>loads too quick for me to finish reading

>restarting pc
>restart required

Some stupid fuckery in the engine prop and how it can put a better load on all parts in high settings.
Either that or the low settings are simply not optimzied since other versions of the game (console) doesn't need said low settings at all.

>jaggies exist on low
>jaggies are harder to process than smooth lines because there are more lines to process

>use GeForce Experience
>bloated, disgusting UI
>fails to install drivers
>have to reinstall it every update
>have to log in to use the video capture feature
>game optimization is useless

Thinking about just uninstalling it at this point, every update makes it worse and worse.

name one game that does this

lowering settings can cause stutter though due to GPU rendering faster so putting more strain on the CPU, games tend to stutter if your GPU is maxed

GTA V is the worst for this

Designing the game to do that would mean forcing it to not use as much memory as it could. If it happens, the problem is on your end and you need more memory.

Far cry 4 runs better for me on high/ultra than it does on low.

>Choose resolution
>640 x 480 24hz
>640 x 480 25hz
>640 x 480 30hz
>640 x 480 60hz
>640 x 480 75hz
>800 x 600 24hz
>800 x 600 25hz
>800 x 600 30hz
>800 x 600 60hz
>800 x 600 75hz
>etc
>finally your resolution after 6 million options

>buy game
>play around with graphics settings for hours
>get frustrated because you can't find the sweet spot between graphics and framerates
>never play game

now this was retarded

>use latest OBS
>Problem solved
Also: WORKS ON MY MACHINE :^)

I got 16GB of RAM, so go ahead and fix your broken shit

>Pick your gender
>It's a slider

I meant games tend to stutter if your CPU is maxed, not GPU

I fucking hate misspelling when it counts

>right click in game
>it has hidden contextual menu just like in windows explorer
it's the little things that stratifies me

It's actually incredible that we've reached this point. I miss when you could just tweak games to have shittier graphics if you wanted the performance if you had weaker hardware. The funny thing is though, "weaker hardware" today could mean last year's high end hardware because developers are too fucking lazy to optimize. It feels like we're just upgrading to counteract bad optimization now.

>fps affects loading time
fucking SFV

>Anti aliasing
>TAA/FXAA/Off

Thanks need for speed

even worse
>game crashes only 50% of the time when you alt tab
>never sure when the killswitch is gonna go off
Looking at you EU4 and Mountain Blade

you get higher FPS on high/ultra or less stutter?

I know that feel user

I uninstalled as soon as they wanted my to create an account. I miss shadowplay but fuck this social network bullshit.

It would still reduce performance to implement it Just stop playing the game if you want to do something else.

>subtitles off by default

Hello ArmA 3

TAA is good though

Yeah, I fucking love OBS. I might just use it for video capture too from now on. Is the performance the same while recording? I remember a problem I had trying it a couple years ago is that you could choose the Nvidia codec for OBS, but it would just give you a black recording with only sound.

Higher fps and less stutter

>exit to desktop
>unresponsive loading screen

I guess I can only say FC4 werks properly for me (tm)

>sharpening

Literally the worst possible setting, why add jaggies when youre already maxing AA and super sampling. I thought TW3 was a ps2 game before I turned that shit off.

It helps performance but its really just making the game blurry, on the game in question in my post, it just made it look like blurry ass too

>turn the game off
>it stops responding and crashes

EVERY FUCKING TIME

Doom 2016 does it best so far though

They should at least make it an option when you first start the game. I had sitting through the first cutscene without knowing what is happening because I forgot to turn on subtitles and the game didn't ask me if I wanted them on.

Same.

t. non-native english speaker

>with two choices

>hl2.exe has stopped working

LOST was fun.

The only settings that really affect fps in arms 3 are your view distances and Picture in Picture. You can have really nice close graphics and good fps, but distance will look worse than normal

>start game in fullscreen
>just as game launches it also launches some pop up screen
>game launches windowed

this also happens if I launch a game and change volume at the same time, the windows volume bar being visible on the top left corner of your display is enough to force a game to launch windowed

this is pure agony!!!

>graphics stetting
>only brightness slider
