Help my Pick between WoW and FFXIV Sup Forums

I've reached End Game in Both of these MMO's and I want to dedicate myself to one.
But I'm stuck on deciding.

I prefer WoW's Gameplay, but I find FFXIV more pleasing and challenging.
My GF Prefers FFXIV way over WoW as well

BUT, Due to living in AU, I suffer enough ping to get fucked by the already shitty AOE system in FFXIV, and I've experienced numerous 2 Hour Que times for Dungeons
Overall, I love both Games, But I feel that paying for both and finding the time for both won't work too well.

Thoughts?

Come liberate Ala Mhigo with me.

You've answer your own question idiot.

Wow is a dead fish on water.

My Main reason for having issues with FF is the 2 hour Que times, along with being in Dungeons with people who speak in fucking Moon Runes and quit after 2 wipes

Also I'll admit I prefer WoW mounts

Still stuck on the fence

I prefer FFXIV myself, but it shouldn't take more than a 60-day time card or two for either to grind BIS for them in the 18-24 months between expansions. Pick the one you prefer playing and go with that.

>quit WoW for FFXIV after relaunch
>FFXIV was garbage
>don't want to play MMOs any more

I actually couldn't be happier that I broke out.

That's literally my issue though.

I Enjoy them both.
My Partner prefers FFXIV, and I find FF more enjoyable
But I have enough game breaking issues with FF, such as Ping along with retarded Party members quitting, that It makes me lean towards WoW

>BUT, Due to living in AU, I suffer enough ping to get fucked by the already shitty AOE system in FFXIV,

Don't stand at the edge of the circle, walk away a few more steps and you're golden.

>Due to living in AU
Just use battleping or something. I raided just fine from AU

Actually, about that.
I've literally checked my Shadowplay to be 100% sure I wasn't in OR near them, and I'm no where near them but I've still been hit.
It frustrates me beyond belief

Even Trials like Titan and Ifrit Extreme for example?
Those are some of the notorious ones for AOE crap

I need someone to post the edgy dark knight macro image thing

What server are you in? I forgot which ones are oceania.

I'm on Tonberry
It's a Jap Server filled with Aussies
It's the unofficial AU server, because we don't actually have an AU server.

Then your ISP is fucked. I'm on Tonberry too and get hit when I'm on the edge of an aoe so i have to take a few more steps.

R.I.P me then.....

>he plays DPS

Actually I main WHM

for you

I had 95th percentile parses on every single savage fight raiding on a wireless connection from au, its not that bad.

That said I moved to a country with better infrastructure and now it feels like easy mode.

idk about on other DCs but Aethercuck DPS don't even get 2 hour queue times anymore unless they're queued for specific irrelevant content

Thnx m8

Living in AU means having Aids Net I guesssss
Least I'm not in Italy or some shit

Hmmmm
Sooo
What your're all saying is FFXIV?

I'll admit I'm a bit of a Lore nut so that does make me lean towards WoW a bit more (Plus I love the mounts in it)
But I Feel so accomplished when Healing in FF

Hopefully with the new FF Expansion there's gonna be more people rolling Tank, so the Que issue isn't retarded

>Hopefully with the new FF Expansion there's gonna be more people rolling Tank, so the Que issue isn't retarded
lmao

they're adding two DPS and that's it
But, their explanation is "People who play DPS primarly didn't stick to tanks after leveling Dark Knight, so there's not much point in adding something to the role just to attract players to the role"
So, early in the expansion there might be a new spike to DPS players but it should even out in 4.2~3 like it did with 3.0

And, FFXIV has plenty of lore on its own, you just kinda gotta dig a bit through various sources

>WoW
Better story
Better singular Raid fights
World Quests beat out dailies and Leves.
Better levelling
Better Class Mechanics

Everything that's better here is only slightly so, and in no way is FFXIV bad at those aspects.

>FFXIV
Better graphics, though that's to be expected
More class diversity, in some areas
Better difficulty in some areas

I play HPally in WoW and DRG in FFXIV, so take my words with a grain of salt.

...

I'd say go with FFXIV because it has a brighter future than WoW. Blizzard clearly has moved onto other projects so WoW is of the least of their priorities and concerns.

Also use a VPN or IP tunnel program to get better ping. I recommend mudfish because they charge based on data usage rather than time. MMOs use kilobytes worth of data during gameplay so a 40GB plan would last you years and it only cost you $5 USD.

I like your Comparison Chart.

I Guess mine would be

WoW

Pros
Better Combat
Mount Speeds
I enjoy the Mount grinding
Flying Fast AF
Awesome Ping
Active and Live
Solid End game
Mostly Eng Speakers
I'm mad on WoW lore
Add-ons
Well Organised Guilds
Open World

Bruhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

>Shitty AOE system
I still don't get this complaint, unless you're in latency hell it's fucking fine.

If you can't pre-emptively move out of AoEs when your latency is fine then you really ought to consider a different career path

>Shitty AOE system
How's mexico doing?

I play both and I just play one or the other when one game is in a downtime period. Like for example a new patch for FFXIV comes out, I do all the new content and then when I'm done grinding I switch to WoW as I wait for more FFXIV content. After finishing WoW stuff, it would usually be time for a new FFXIV patch around the corner.

I feel like that's actually a really smart way of doing it.
Thanks user!

>WoW
>Better story
>Better singular Raid fights
>Better Class Mechanics

Yes, AU is Hell for Net I get it....
Our Government is fucking retarded

Not him but the game has a fundamental flaw regarding its AOE system (primarily that it affects you if you're in the area at a predetermined time and not when the attack actually occurs) that is not present in several, if not all, f2p MMOs, among other problems.

Polite sage for responding, this never leads anywhere

Thank youuuu!!!!
I've always noticed the AOE system was kinda average.
I'd Check my shadow play numerous times and Id always be well off it

Say, I'm in the middle of Casting Cure and An AOE pop up on me
The time it takes me to stop casting and Leg it using spring, especially on AOE's with a short time period
I'll get hit 90% of the time even if I'm off the bloody circle.

There are a lot of little things, but IMO, it can be made much more simple.

Do you like the idea of...
-having one character with one job, that only does one thing?
or alternatively
-having to make a new character anytime you wanna try something new? Which also includes:
-having to do all those fucking quests again
-having to do all the flight path shit and running around without a mount
-having to mail shit between your main and alt
-having to log in and out every time you wanna do something different
-progressing at a snail's pace because you're always spending time on alts and never your main

if you don't mind that sorta thing, wow might be better

If you like
-having one character
-with all the classes
-all the crafts
-all your stuff
-that all your friends know you by name
-and that you can get really into on a personal level

If that sounds cool, play ffxiv.

This might seem trivial, but until you actually get into it, it is surprising how much more invested you get into a game when you can focus all your efforts on one dude. You end up making way more progress than you would have jumping around between alts.

You make a strong point.

I've put in more hours than I can remember into both games, and become rather immersed into both.
And Yeah, the whole 1 Character thing is a HUGE Bonus about FFXIV, that I Love

Being a Squishy WHM makes me lose my shit tho when I die due to Ping tho, because if I'm in a Trial or whatever I have literally no mana on respawn making me useless.

I do feel like this Thread is leaning strongly towards FFXIV
So I might resub to that and see how it goes for a while

>(primarily that it affects you if you're in the area at a predetermined time and not when the attack actually occurs)
The only fucking difference is the "predetermined time," I don't know how you fucking autists can cling onto this. So you're telling me if the effect went off when the attack animation happened it'd be better when literally the only difference is the timing? I don't know how this can actually be a problem. Is it because your autism bugs you about the timing? Please go play something else. There's actual problems with FFXIV's combat and the timing of AoEs isn't one of them. If you're bitching about 'not having enough time' because it'll catch you when the AoE marker disappears and not when the attack animation plays then please get good.

It's such a shitty argument, almost as bad as >2.5s GCD

1.Orange circle appears
2.Orange circle disappears
3.Effect appears

If you're in the effect when the orange circle disappears, you get hit. It might not be the most aesthetically pleasing thing ever, but it's still clear as fuck if you get hit or not. Unless you live in africa.
If you're getting hit even if you get out of the circles before they disappear, you probably shouldn't be playing/should play a different shard.

If your character was still in the circle right as it disappears, you will still get hit even if your character appears to be 20 meters away from the attack.

It sounds dumb as fuck but it's actually a lowkey wise design decision for melee classes. It gives them more than enough time to reposition from boss attacks so they don't lose damage compared to ranged classes and make them obsolete. I could give a long depth explanation about how it works in Savage and Extreme raids but I'm currently posting from my phone at work so it would be too much of a hassle. But trust me when I say that if you play as a melee class with positional attacks in high end raids then you would come to appreciate the design choice especially if your ping sucks.

Do you have friends to play with on WoW? Because if not you have at least one to play with on FF14, but you seemly keep edging towards WoW.

So make it easy on yourself did you want to play with your GF? If you don't really care to just go for WoW.

Yall need to realize that damage for an AoE is locked in when the orange indicators disappear, not when the visual effect actually happens which might be 1 or 2 seconds later. If you're in the marker when it disappears, it doesnt matter if you're on the other side of the room when the light show actually happens.

You can make an argument that it'll be more intuitive if they timed the spell animations to sync up a bit better, sure you can do that. But there's no excuse for still getting hit after I've now told you how it works, you just look at the aoe marker, not the spell effect - done.

Can't wait for Stormblood to come out and they make more bosses like Sohm Al Hard 2nd boss where there's 0 AoE indicators. You have to watch the boss animation and anticipate what he's going to do whether it's a front cleave, tail swipe, charge attack, etc. The shitter tears will be hilarious.

This probably won't happen with any more regularity than it already does.

There's already trash mobs in the new diadem that do this. I expect it to be more common later on

Eh, which ones?

I mean, reminder that the boss(es) of Stone Vigil Hard already did the thing the second boss in Sohm Al Hard does(except the super mode thing).

how about you play a good mmo instead of this shallow trash

I forgot their names but you see the numbers next to monsters names in diadem? The high number ones that looks like reptiles do it.

The gigantopithicus do that, theyve fucked up a few groups that get cocky and pull a bunch of them.

Yeah. I expect the devs to put more monsters like them in Stormblood expert dungeons so it makes people pull less. It's tough to see what monsters are doing when you got a bunch of them together combined with the spell effect lightshows from spells.

Does anyone else start an MMO and get bored a couple of weeks later without reaching end game? I've done it with WoW, FFXIV, and a couple of others. Are there any MMOs that are fun to play that aren't just about progressing to end game? I want to log in and play just for the fun of it

MMOs probably arent for you. What you're looking for are online action games like PSO2, Vindictus, or Destiny.

The problem is I love single player RPGs, but MMORPGs seem rushed and meaningless. FFXIV at least has an interesting story, but it still suffers from pointless padding and grinding.

Are there any MMORPGs that offer at least 100 of quality play that isn't just low-tier fetch quests and group dungeons?

Thanks for the suggestions, btw. I'm going to look into Vindictus and PSO2 (already played Destiny)

*100 hours

Have you done mythic raiding in WOW? If you think it's easy you're a fucking idiot. Ffxivs raiding is literally like 4 easy mechanics per fight lmao

>Are there any MMORPGs that offer at least 100 of quality play that isn't just low-tier fetch quests and group dungeons?

FFXI but every quest is a fucking nightmare that puts XIV relics to shame. even the main story missions

>Ffxivs raiding is literally like 4 easy mechanics per fight lmao

yeah but you have more than 1 hotbar button to press and you don't have an addon that paints giant glowing arrows exactly where and when you need to move so it balances out
