It took everything that made CoD4 good and fucked it up the ass and it killed competitive Cod forever so thanks Robert Bowling you infantile little shit

gud game

fun multiplayer
decent campaign
shitty spec ops

8/10
waw was way better tho

The last good CoD game.

i liked the singleplayer even if it was more over the top, COD 4 was like Black Hawk Down while MW2 was more Michael Bay, still well made and fun.

The multiplayer was an overbloated mess, I didnt liked it and was the last COD game I bought.

Pretty Good for its time.

>last good one
That's funny since BO2 was. To answer OP's question MW2 is a good game and the last good game IW made. Spec Ops is unironically my favorite part of the game.

>that sound of hitmakers when you hit 4 or 5 noobs with the AC-130

MW2 multiplayer was so broken, I fucking loved it. Last multiplayer game I actively played with friends, MW3 made me lost interest in multiplayer games forever. 2nd best campaign too, Blops 1 being the best one.

i had a ton of fun with spec ops, got all stars. I think it was a great addition

I like that part where you murder hundreads of US soldiers at the end.

CoD tier list

>High: CoD 2, CoD 4, MW2, BO, BO2
>Ok: CoD, WaW, MW3, BO3
>Shit: CoD 3, Ghosts, AW, IW

>competitive Cod
>smug anime negro dot pee engeeeee

Fun game although contributed greatly to ruining the FPS genre because everyone was knocking it off, maybe that's more COD4's fault though

I still have wet dreams about akimbo shotgun + sniper with thermal sight

this.

consoles were pretty much in the grave by then so it definitely was not bo2.

Great CoD game.
Fixed a lot of prominent SP and MP issues that plagued CoD4.
Multiplayer was marred by lack of support (not enough bug fixes or balance tweaks) and lag and cheating due to peer2peer playing, but the underlying game is rock solid and fun.

>Move IW, COD3 and WaW up a tier
>Move BO and MW3 down a tier
You know have the perfect list

I got so bored with it honestly

BO2 had a good story that actually had multiple endings, good zombies, good multiplayer with bots and splitscreen. Not much wrong with it.

MW2 was the only CoD game I bought and the online was a piece of shit with no dedicated servers or custom maps and the game was filled with hackers.

Bo3 is way better bo2

Bo3 is the most fun since mw2

I still consider it to be the last good CoD game. MW3 fucked up the SP and the MP. Blops2 was when the games started to be over the top and zaney, i really didn't like that shit

Some people like BO2 for those reasons besides having a better story than the MW series.

CoD2 and MW2 were my favorite FPS multiplayers

>waw was way better tho

These games wew always meh but waw was great. WW2 desperately needed an arcadey FPS. Shame about the DLC maps.

10/10 opinion

BO3 would be better if it wasn't a glitch fest.

Unbalanced shite signalling the end of Infinity Ward as a halfway decent dev.

What's funny is that if you were to ask this a couple years ago, the consensus would have been its shit, and the last good COD game was MW. I guess it's a sign the kids who grew up with MW2 are now on this board.

it was great with a friend

I fucking love the singleplayer, I already did a Modern Warfare marathon playing the campaigns from Cod4 to MW3 in a row a few times already.

The first step down after the peak that was CoD4, and the beginning of the end for modern shooters.

MW2 was what killed cod, kid

I fucking hate MW3's campaigns, they are full of "honorable sacrifices" and "shock moments" that ripoff other better moments from the previous series

it was unbalanced as fuck and that's why it was so fun. best map design in the series too.

>killed CoD
Treyarch still has CoD alive, but they're the only one. They're pretty much the only developer that still gives a shit about local multiplayer in FPS.

I played it to death since it was one of the first multiplayer games on the 7th gen of consoles I really got into besides Halo 3, and it was my first CoD game since I had been a Medal of Honor kid. I wouldn't call it a good game but it was a very fun experience, especially since I had friends to play with back then.

Fuck off, MW2 improved MW in every way. Both games are great SP and MP wise

Not gonna lie, I was angry when Soap died. It wasn't like Aeris tier or anything but I certainly did feel it.

It wasn't balanced for leaning

Cuck

Did you ever actually play MW2? It's very fun

BEST MW. Everything in the multiplayer was broken and OP but that's what makes it fun because you could make all sorts of wacky builds and tactics.

It was a fun single player experience with neat setpieces especially.

Multiplayer was a mess but if you didn't attach an ego to it you could have plenty of fun with it.

I mean you could say the same on all three MW games. They didn't deserve the hate Sup Forums game them aside from maybe the multiplayer stuff.

Always liked the design of the guns

>people with marathon + commando + ninja
Its one of those "you hate it when its used against you" builds

Fun the I was 10
yeah I was born in 1998
Im 18 now so fuck off

>Black ops 2
>good

best cod campaign of all time

fun coop mode

abysmal multiplayer

"MW2 was a greit geim" - nu Sup Forums

>really small maps, like it was customary with Call of Duty
>completely not balanced in any sort of way, they literally just gave you shitfucktons of poorly-thought out weapons and let everyone lose, which usually culminated in a gigantic clusterfuck of maybe killing two people and getting shot from behind unless you were camping like a kid/piece of shit
>PC version didn't have dedicated servers, because why the fuck should the game work in the future
>it was the first Call of Duty to feel like a complete console port as opposed to be designed from the ground up for the PC, like MW1

It didn't improve anything aside from shoving shittones of content that either barely differed at all or wasn't thought out. The MW2 campaign was good, I'll give you that much, but the game as a whole and its multiplayer were the beginning of the cancer that Call of Duty is today.

United Offensive is the best CoD out to date, mainly because it allows you to do something more than just run around a small map with spray and pray guns. The game had vehicles and large maps.

Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3 are infinitely better, the latter having the best mod tools and support for any game released in the last decade

Move WaW up and this is a perfectlist

I was one of those kids that grew up with MW2 and I was on this board in 2006, friend. People still liked it at release, it was just the peak of the fedora-tipping gamer's CoD hatred.

>MW2 campaign being too over the top
I liked it for that reason. It's not WaW or BO1 good but it's up there.

I think it may have something to do with Battlefield starting to get more and more popular by then, and since it had many vehicles and continent-sized map, they decided to do the opposite

But MW2's multiplayer got you rewarded for being good with multiple toys to wreck your enemies, MW1 at best had the chopper

I think what killed CoD multiplayer is that stupid as fuck approach they have to MW3 where you could be a "support player" even though smart people would already do that in MW2

How was the single-player campaign of Ghosts? That was the one about the brothers with the dog right?

Bad. The story was one of the most clichéd I've ever seen. The gameplay is the same as usual too nothing really different.

>But MW2's multiplayer got you rewarded for being good with multiple toys to wreck your enemies, MW1 at best had the chopper
None of this shit is fun, nukes, predators and any apache you can call are just variations of spawning something on the map and racking up a few kills, nothing more. It gets boring as shit, but at least in MW1 the chopper can be downed very easily and airstrikes had to be placed with some thought. Some.

>really small maps, like it was customary with Call of Duty
You never played on Fuel or Wasteland then. But MW2 is an arena shooter so small maps are great. At least they aren't that 3 lane Esports garbage like they were for Black Ops 3
>completely not balanced in any sort of way, they literally just gave you shitfucktons of poorly-thought out weapons and let everyone lose, which usually culminated in a gigantic clusterfuck of maybe killing two people and getting shot from behind unless you were camping like a kid/piece of shit
It's fun because of how unbalanced the game is. Running around like a madman with a smoke grenade in my hand killing people with a knife is fun as fuck. GIT GUD
>PC version didn't have dedicated servers, because why the fuck should the game work in the future
People didn't really buy the games on PC back then. Black Ops 3 didn't have dedicated servers but you still hate it.
>it was the first Call of Duty to feel like a complete console port as opposed to be designed from the ground up for the PC, like MW1
I suggest playing Black Ops 3 if you want stellar PC support.

>a gigantic clusterfuck of maybe killing two people and getting shot from behind unless you were camping
Looks like someone's just mad he sucked dick at the game lol

>tfw the whole enemy team is killed with an airstrike

Was fucking great
Top tier sound
Pretty much all guns are viable
Short TTK

I miss it

>people STILL haven't bought Black Ops 3 on PC
youtu.be/Tdqa599p4oQ

It was okay, the only real memorable parts were the space missions and the cliffhanger ending that we'll probably never see continued which is a shame since I would love to play as the MC on Rooke's side and see the eventual conflict between the brothers

>last good COD game was MW
how did you not like waw? co-op campaign was fun, zombies was fucking great, multiplayer was pretty good

It started the downward trend of COD games

W@W>COD4>league play and GB Blops 2>shit>MW2>pub Blops 2>dogshit>Blops>MW3>catshit>everything current-gen

Mw3 was good too, faggots

It looks as grey as a Zack Snyder film.

When it came out I remember whole Sup Forums shitting on it but now with the older guys moving on and new children joining Sup Forums its probably being praised.

no it was the worst fucking shit and i stopped buying cod after that

it was the last cod i gave a fuck about if you know what i mean

MW2 was good because it let good players dominate the game. Balance is overrated as fuck, the only people who cry about games being unbalanced are people who suck at the game and need a crutch. Black Ops was fun but they sucked all the fun out of the game.

The YouTube community is responsible for the downfall of Call of Duty because it turned everybody into tryhards who bitched about everything until Treyarch had to come in and stripped the series of fun. Not to say there wasn't problems like Commando and OMA, but those things could've been easily fixed within a month.

>going upstairs in that house on Bailout
>bring akimbo UMPs and a blast shield
>kill retards that come up to do what I'm doing
>attracts attention and EVERYONE on the map wants to kill me
>harrier waiting on your mark
>pave low standing by
I really hope they don't "balance" the game when they remake it for the 10th anniversary. In every cod game after MW3 they blocked dead ends to circumvent camping

>CoD is for children
>"d-do i fit in now guys?"

That was just a myth because of some videos with kids yelling on Xbox live, which happens on every MP game ever.

If you are going to blindly hate a game because of what Sup Forums tells you then allow me to say you are fucking sheep and your opinions are all probably just copy and paste from someone else

Nah sorry it tried to have shocking moments in the SP as MW1 and 2 and it came out as a ripoff. Not only that, they ruined the multiplayer by having those stupid support rewards that you can get regardless of if you are killed or not

To be fair Sup Forums shits on everything that isn't ridiculously niche when it comes out.

If a game can be as unbalanced as MW2 was, and still turn out fun then Infinity Ward had to have done something right with that game. To be honest I think the singleplayer campaign was shit though, was too Hollywood to be a sequel to CoD4 which felt more grounded to reality in comparison.

How the fuck did CoD go from an arcade FPS and dark themes to Nigger memes and fanfiction?

This world would be a better place if Activision and EA died.

It was fun as shit. but I'm not sure how much of it was the game or how much of it was the fact that we had a group of people on everyday, ready to play for hours and talk.

Anyway, I have very fond memories of MW2 because of this and it was just overall a better time in my life. CoD didn't start going down for me until Ghosts and it really hit the bottom when Advanced Warfare came out even though I think AW is better than Ghosts.

WaW=CoD4>MW2>BLOPS>BLOPS2>CoD2>MW3>>>BLOPS3>>>>>>Advanced Warfare>Ghosts

>OMA
>remember sitting on that secret roof on Overgrown with a M4A1 with M203 and a tactical insertion
>pretty much fucking invincible while I eagle eye people across the map
>once I'm out of grenades to launch I just OMA and get some new ones
What was IW thinking when they put that in the game?

>But MW2 is an arena shooter
>MW2
>arena shooter

mw is a moba you idiot

Believe it or not some say BO3 was like an anime. But yes Ghosts had weed emblems and Snoop dog, literally for black people on welfare

What engine did they use for this game on the 360/PS3 version? There's no way in hell it's the same as the other's because it felt floaty like Killzone 2 and had a glossier aesthetic to it that I haven't seen from CoD4 to Black Ops. The multiplayer was it's own beast too, with tanks & other vehicles like jeeps & motorcycles if I remember correctly.

I've been thinking about playing CoD multiplayer again because something about it's simplicity has always been fun.

Which one should I get that has a decent playerbase and isn't cancer?

It's some engine Treyarch made. They used it in the Spider-Man games they did.

BLOPS2 still has a decent community, BLOPS3 is bigger but I prefer boots on the ground.

...

>They used it in the Spider-Man games
Well I'll be. I didn't even know Treyarch had the means to develop their own engine. Always thought they were just "That CoD B-Team" even if their CoD games were great and eventually even surpassed Infinityward.

RAMIREZ!

Promod is shit you tryhard nigger

I picked up IW specifically for mindless fun to jack off with on the couch. Pleasantly surprised at how much fun it is.

I feel bad for Treyarch. I doubt they realized they were making a deal with the devil when they signed on with activision. They actually can make really good and fun games but only being able to shit out CoD

Treyarch is actually pretty competent. Aside from the Spider-Man games which range from alright to amazing, they did Die by the Sword where you have total control over your sword and the best Bond game IMO since Nightfire in Quantum of Solace. Pretty challenging SP at times with actually good MP which was pretty surprising to me at the time.

I followed the industry way less back then I was a kid but was Activision as bad as they are back in 2001? Seems like it was a good deal for them, especially since they probably would have folded by now. They have some decent games from before then but their library improved when they joined up with Activision, especially considering Spider-Man 2 is STILL the best superhero game in a lot of peoples eyes.

You can't seriously tell me the Echo missions on Veteran were any fun at all.

>camp on the scaffolding with a Barrett and snipe juggernauts for 20 minutes
>make your friend block a doorway as you spam grenades at juggernauts for 20 minutes
>woops your friend accidentally shot a hostage, back to the beginning ;^)

I got all stars too but holy shit those missions were miserable

It didn't kill CoD itself but it did stagnate the FPS genre for a few years with everyone trying to copy it's multiplayer model

>2007
>CoD4 vs Halo 3 is the argument of the year
>2017
>Infinite Warfare is like the 5th game of future shit and Halo is dead

Fun times.

That looks sick. Do you need a legal copy of the game to play mods?

Hey me too. MW2 had the perfect assortment of iconic 80s and 90s "action movie guns", with a few newcomers like the ACR, Vector etc. to give it a little modern edge.

Not that I know of, but you'll only be able to play LAN (Not sure if this is even in BLOPS3) or on cracked pirate servers.

Unfun trash made for housewives who got tired of Candy Crush.

>That panic when enemy team has the ac 130
>"AC 130 in the air!!"
>The sounds it made when you were getting shot at looking for cover

fuck this game honestly was the most fun i ever had with my bros.

ac 130 > Chopper gunner
