Wii u 2
>more than half developing for pc and ps4
> a bunch of shit indie games, farming simulators and call of duty ass creed trash
Quality over quantity. I'll take the Switch Wii u master race
Among all the games released on steam this week you probably have better things than the shitty bomberman and 1 2 switch.
Also "quality over quantity" is the bullshit argument that made wii u a failure even with good games
>Quality over quantity
But the only good game on Switch is Zelda??
Why is Linux so hipster that it doesn't fall under PC?
Because most mainstream programs are developed for Windows/Mac and very few are developed for Linux as well.
>a console with less than a month of lifetime already got 3% of the market
wow
PC became synonymous with Windows (like PC vs. MAC and shit like that).
Because combining Windows and Mac while separating desktop Linux and mobile Linux biases the chart to show the result desired.
From a game development perspective there's basically no difference between Linux on ARM and Linux on AMD64 you use all the same APIs its just a matter of compiling and QA.
38% + 7% would be 45%. 53% - Whatever percentage MacOS game development would be at would put it down possibly at the same level as Linux.
cant get devkits right now
>less than a month old
It would be very interesting to see Windows 7 (Win32), Windows 10 (UWP), and MacOS (Metal) broken out.
Also, why are VR headsets listed as a separate platform when games for them would just be PS4, Linux, or Windows games that require an accessory?
>implying "devs" producing worse than shovelwear bullshit for idiots to make money via steam trading cards are "important"
>less than a month old
you know dev kits were sent out for this thing when it was still called the NX right?
how long do you think it takes to develop a game dude
prolly has to be with the accessory not being optional for thousands of shovelware titles equals a platform, dunno
I'm surprised VR is so high and they still have no worthwhile games.
I know this is bait but this got me pretty close to being triggered. I do hope the switch gets some good games like monhun5, a new metroid, and a new pokemon game though
As someone who owned a Wii U, I hope the Switch is a complete fucking flop.
Why? is it because you got burned by the wii u? or you just want ninty to go 3p?
The former.
It's a shame the wii u ended up like it did but at least nintendo is going out of their way to encourage indie devs to flock to the switch. If you aren't into indie titles and just want the big nintendo stuff, there's the new zelda if you haven't got it already, the new mario looks promising, Arms, possibly a new metroid, a console pokemon, monhun
> the bullshit argument that made wii u a failure even with good games
Who did it fail? The people who bought it got 10-20 good games, depending on what a good game is to you.
Nintendo made money on it, so it didn't fail for them. And the people who didn't buy it are ok.
Just because Nintendo didn't make their usual fortune doesn't mean it failed. Good games are all that matter.
>I'm surprised PC is so high and they still have no worthwhile games.
>The people who bought it got 10-20 good game
The only way you can get to 20 is if you count literal garbage games like Star Fox Zero and Paper Mario Color Splash
PC WINS AGAIN BABY
>source: GDC
Into the trash
Honestly even if PC had no games, I'd still be happy with mine
>emulators
>mods
>can game and do tons of other stuff easily from one machine
1.super Mario maker
2.Wind waker hd
3.twilight princess hd
4.Mario kart 8
5.smash brothers
6.breath of the wild
7.bayonetta 2
8.shovel knight
9.yoshis wooly world
10.xenoblade
11.mario 3d world
12.Splatoon
13.rayman legends
14.pikmin 3
15.donkey Kong tropical freeze
16.new super Mario I
17.monster Hunter
18.wonderful 101
19.hyrule warriors
20.paper Mario color splash
The Wii u was good
There are multiplats, remasters and games that were criticized by their own fanbases in that list. I liked my Wii U for Donkey Kong and Bayonetta, but saying it has 20 good games is way too much of a stretch.
>a new metroid
I'm only going to get the switch if they make Metroid.
I own the WiiU so I got like 8 mario games, donkey kong, kirby, toad, luigi, Pikmin and all the other standard nintendo properties. I don't need to buy a switch and play those same games again. The nice thing about other platforms is that new games come out and not rehashes.
>switch
>quality
mmm
VR has a very big development scene but for whatever reason it's just nothing but shitty shovelware.
GDC was like 80% VR games.
Meh, I never understood the whole rehash thing. I mean look at dark souls, it's incredibly popular but every game is essentially a rehash. And what about assasin's creed and COD? People always complain that those are rehashes too? i get wanting something new but whenever nintendo does something new, people don't care. I mean look at ARMS. Is anybody talking about it even though it's a brand new IP? No. It barely gets mentioned and many people have already written it off without even knowing if it'll be fun or not
I think everyone in the VR dev scene knows VR still doesn't have that killer game. They're all scrambling to put something out because they know if their game succeeds, they can essentially control the VR market because what are VR players gonna do? not buy the best VR game?
yeah yeah yeah. Tomb Raider is a rehash. Assassin's Creed is a rehash. blah blah blah. I also enjoy playing Civilization, Trackmania, GTAV stunt races, Surfing in Counter-strike, and rocket jump maps in Quake 3. You know, things that aren't rehashes. I like mario but what the fuck how many mario games do I actually fucking need? I played 4 of them on the WiiU.
It's fucking expensive as shit to develop, that's why. Only a AAA developer is going to be able to afford putting together an impressive game for it, and there just aren't enough VR headsets out there to justify the cost yet. So we're stuck with shovelware and educational stuff you can sell to colleges/schools
So don't buy mario games??
The new zelda is a vast departure from the previous zelda games and in no way a rehash. Don't like that? get arms, it seems like a fun take on the idea of 3d fighting. Don't like that? Get Fast RMX it's an exclusive and it introduces a color switching mechanic to the antigrav racing genre. My point is if all you play is mario and then complain, it's your own fault.
I'm looking forward to ARMS
PC has games. They released stalker and crysis then...
I...I never thought I'd find one like me...
People don't like ARMS because we got sick of waggle motion controls years ago.
Why do people keep saying this? YOU CAN PLAY ARMS WITHOUT MOTION CONTROLS
Gamefreak is hiring people who can render 3D models similar to the Wii U and Vita. A Switch game seems likely.
>bullshit list
>console doesn't even have 10 legitimately good, exclusive games
c'mon dude. the wii u was a complete failure
I also want a pokken with more characters. Cmon nintendo make it happen
Yeah, but the devs said they recommend playing with motion controls and that it was designed primarily with motion controls in mind.
Nintendo isn't going to recapture the Wii casual audience, and seeing them try to do so with games like ARMS is just kind of sad to watch.
source? and even if they said that, who cares? If it's playable with decent traditional controls and turns out to be a decent fighter, I don't see why fans shouldn't get it
ARMS was the game that almost made me turn off the launch announcement, it was so cringeworthy it wasn't funny.
If they had put Xenoblade 2 into that spot in the announcement it would have gone over much better.
Meh, for me that was paid online. Really triggered me
>GDC
Indie shits
>Buy a Wii U
>Play the games
>Sell it all later and recoup 60% of the costs
Really isn't that difficult.
>source?
Here is where they say the recommended way to play is motion controls with joycons:
nintendolife.com
Here is where they say they recommend motion controls for high level play:
ign.com
The second one means you'll probably be gimped if you don't use motion controls.
>If it's playable with decent traditional controls
That's the thing, people who play with traditional controls will probably be at a disadvantage like in Splatoon. But unlike Splatoon (which just requires slight wrist movements) you have to swing your fucking arms around.
Number of games with over a million copies sold:
Xbox One: 6
PS4: 9
Wii U: 14
Wii U definitely didn't sell enough consoles, but the games beat the shit out of the competition.
This poll was about indie developers and is several months old.
He only says you'd be at a disadvantage if you were playing with one joycon, not the joycon grip. So you'll still be able to play just fine with traditional controls
>So you'll still be able to play just fine with traditional controls
Eh, I'm not convinced. I still think they'll do some stupid shit that will result in motion controls being the better way to play, so I'll reserve judgment to see how traditional controls stack up against the motion controls.
This includes devs who could have started development three or four years ago. How is this a fair comparison?
Guess we'll have to wait and see. I hope they don't fuck the controls up considering the game will depend on them heavily
>Quality over quantity. I'll take the Switch Wii u master race
Like half of the Wii U's small library is straight garbage.
>Paper Mario Color Splash
>Star Fox Zero
>Devil's Third
>Animal Crossing amiibo festival
>Hyrule Warriors
>NES Remix
>Sonic Boom
>Sonic Lost World
>Mario and Sonic trash
>Mario vs DK amiibo trash
>got burned by the only console with more than 2 worthwhile exclusives
There's no accounting for taste.
I'd bet you didn't even play at least half those games
Just like we all knew, PC is the future.
I played all of them.
>8 good games drip fed over a period of 4 years
Wii U sucked.
As opposed to 2 good games on PS4 and 0 on Xbone
This was published before the switch even released. Thanks for being disingenuous, MS shill
>that $35 billion on PC is split between a trillion devs
>Nintendo gets that $3 billion handheld cash all to itself, on top of console and phone/tablet money
I've played more than 2 games on my PS4 just this year
>Nintendo gets that $3 billion handheld cash all to itself
And still isn't making a profit.
Source? Because I see tons of people complaining that the Switch could be sold at $250 and they'd still make a profit. So which is it?
>That's the thing, people who play with traditional controls will probably be at a disadvantage like in Splatoon.
It seems like it should be possible to come up with a good solution unless they intentionally make the traditional controls worse. Analog triggers would have been ideal, but even just feathering digital triggers to affect the rate of curve should work. Splatoon only works so well because your actions in the game have no weight to them so motions can be translated directly to the game. It is basically just emulating a mouse. I have not been impressed with motion controls for anything other than camera controls since the Wii released, so I am not expecting them to have finally figured it out now. However, I will say that making it a long range fighting game was a good design so it doesn't turn into flailing.
They would make a profit on the production cost of Switch, they aren't profitable as a company.
They weren't profitable as a company. If you don't think the Switch will have them in the black by the end of the year you're intentionally fooling yourself.
So let me get this straight. Nintendo has purported to have $4 billion in cash alone, not counting assets or anything. Going by that graph, and going by you saying that they'll make profit on the purchases, they'll make just over $3.5 billion from the Switch alone in 2017, nearly doubling their cash reserves. Yet you say they won't profit at a company?
Are you retarded?
That's correct, Nintendo won't make cash this year.
Where are their losses?
So where will they be losing money if they profit from literally all of their sales this year?
I'm a Sonynegroid with a pc but shovelware numbers don't mean jack.
Steam gets 10 billion new games every minutute and maybe six of them are good every year.
Because production costs aren't the only costs associated with the Switch, and Switch sales profits can't subsidize all the other failures of the company.
Expenses? You kind of have to pay people for their work.
>all the other failures of the company.
Which are? They're not manufacturing any more Wii U's so that's already a sunk cost.
>the most profitable time in a console's life span will not generate enough revenue to pay wages
Wow, how does Nintendo ever make money?
>stupid statistics with 0 context
thats fucking retarded
if a console has 5 games, of course almost everyone who bought that console will get some of those games, so sales per game will increase a lot giving the false illusion of super popular games
i'd love to see a Console sales vs Total games per console vs Number of games that sold +million
>make $3.5 billion from the handheld market
>make maybe another billion or two from the console market
>make another billion or so from mobile apps
>make another $500 million from online payment
>people still say they won't make money
Nintendo: doomed since 1889.
>Wow, how does Nintendo ever make money?
they don't. nintendo discloses their financials, they haven't turned a profit in like a decade
...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
pic related
Pretty sure exactly a decade ago they were rolling in Wii and DS money. They were still doing this even five or six years ago.
SHUT THE FUCK UP AND DELETE THIS THREAD RIGHT FUCKING NOW
>Vr headset
>over Xbone
Holy shit M$ fucked themselves hard
>GDC
lol its fucking nothing
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>tfw fell for the switch meme
GDC is fairly indie dev intensive and primarly western devs.
Not saying all the Japs are lining up to develop on the Switch but Nintendo isnt really know for its Western Devs.
>WiiU is dead
>3DS is dying
>Still make a profit
Yeah I'm sure they're in big trouble. Might I remind you that Nintendo was more profitable than the Playstation division during the PS2 era?
> a few years of losses that correspond to the poorly selling Wii U
Yep, sounds about right.
...
Why do you have so many of these?
>linux has more developers than the switch
it's ok, the shitty indie ports are going to make up for it
