1992 to 2005 was the golden era of video games. It was around 2007 when things went to shit, with the Wii's release, the popularization of consoles as a "multimedia entertainment device" (in other words, a gimped PC) and DLC becoming normalized.

Gen 6 was the last generation of consoles where the consoles had actual differences and weren't just shitty PCs.

meanwhile the ps1 & ps2 are the two most highest selling consoles of all time. and the japanese didnt give a single fuck about dvd players until the ps2 launched. but no, lets blame the wii since it didnt come out in your childhood.
