I played the first one and even have the poster on my wall because it looks great but I was never that excited about it. It's a good game nonetheless.
I guess it gets overblown because it was never on PC and it's a good way to spite them but it's really nothing special, just GTA in the wild west.

Based on some of the stuff that's come out about the cast and cross referencing material with the trailer it's more likely that you're going to build a gang in the single player.
