I have a wii u but skipped out on mk8, mostly because I prefer mario kart on a handheld. So yeah I'll be getting this.

Eventually, Mario Kart 8 has been one of my favourite games in recent years, but it's not worth a Switch just for it. Maybe when the new Mario comes out or they release the 'New' Switch, I'll pick it up

Absolutely not. I already have 8 and all they added were battle tracks and the squid kids. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it. If you don't already have 8 though, it's absolutely amazing. The number of tracks with the DLC included is huge and they're all very high quality. The game has 3 fucking rainbow roads.

Really wish they would offer a discount to those who already have the digital version on Wii U.

Yeah, I haven't played a Mario Kart game since the DS one I think.

Mario Kart Wii isn't like that at all. The items are weaker compared to other games, and there's no spammable items like fire flower or boomerang. Red shells often hit walls before they reach their target, and you generally get enough items to defend yourself. And recovering from getting hit is way faster, because you can do a standing mini turbo.

It's been a while since I played MKWii online (RIP) but I remember there being like at least 3 blue shells and 2 lightnings every race. I never played competitively though.

MK8 was already fine, but it's a crime to sell a 3-year-old game at full price with content that should have been available in the game to begin with. There aren't even any new race tracks. It's just battle maps.

I will. The Switch is literally "Switching" in to replace the Wii U as Nintendo's home console this generation, so it only makes sense to make sure I can play Mario Kart 8 on their new console. I enjoyed 8 for the most part, with the lack of battle mode and the item balance being the biggest flaws for me.

Deluxe addresses both of those, makes it portable and adds Squid Girl so hell fucking yes I'm getting it.

Mario Kart 8 had perfect blue shell balance at 1 a game. Also had a blue shell trump item. Wii had waaaaaay worse item spam.
