What is the best starter of all times?

I played the original Gameboy games when I was really little, but I don't really remember them. The first game I have real memories of is Sapphire, so Mudkip is my OG pick. I was super disappointed when he turned into Marshtomp but then Swampert came around and I knew I made the right pick.

To be fair, I really liked Dewott and Samurott but hate the shit out of Oshawott, but otherwise, Snivy's line is consistently better. Same goes for Infernape vs Empoleon. Didn't really give a shit about X/Y starters.

But even if you don't like their looks, they're still great on a team. Empoleon has great typing and Infernape line has the luxury of being one of 3 available fire types.

I love Gen 4 and 5 - they might be my favorite right now. Gen 4 added some cool evolutions to older lines (weavile is my jam) and I loved that it was a full set of 150 new pokemon for gen 5 even if most of them were lame. I hate how the newer ones add

Gen 4 starters really are all great, but Torterra is my nigga.

Gen 3 and 4 both have all the starters being GOAT.
Gen 1, 2, and 6 have more good than bad, with Bulbasaur, Chikorita, and Fennekin being the only bad ones.

Gens 5 and 7 both suck dick when it comes to starters.

Until I played through a few times and realized there's no question squirtle is the best pick. He cheeses brock and is god in the first couple mountains, plus he gets you to the point where you can have a decent team early on without much grind

Gen 1 was the only time I didn't choose a water starter because I went with Bulbasaur and Charmander first and second. Didn't like them so I went with Squirtle and loved it. Have chosen the water starters since, the other two aren't even options.
