I won't spoil anything, but if you haven't played Fallout 4 don't read.

I loved this game up to a point.
That point was when all factions wanted to murder one another.
Especially the fucking Institute, who was supposed to be all high and mighty with their superior technology and neutrality and shit, and then Shaun wants you to pretty much murder everyone.
What the shit.
I was a member of the Brotherhood, and the Railroad (pretty retarded that you can do both since they're enemies but what the hell.) and then I wanted to speak to the Institute and get to know what the fuck was up with them.
Nice twist overall, but why is violence the only outcome of anything you do in this game?

Is it poor writing, or is it intentional to convey that humans are shit and despite total nuclear annihilation, they will still fight over shit and kill each other?

How was your playthrough and how different can the ending be? Since now pretty much nothing changed.

It's Bethesda's trademark lazy, poor, shitty, non RPG writing.

They just made an action game with numbers and perks and some story branching decisions (very few and not very good).

Really just don't overthink it, Fallout 4 is ass.

Back to r/gaming, cunt

there are literally 2 variables, your sex or if the institute was blown up.

To me is worse than 3.

cons.
>crafting scavenging bullshit
>ramdon repetitive radiant quests
>whatered down world
>whatered down dialog wheel
>No bad guys factions option
>Very few secondary missions
>forced origin/story on the MC

pros
>better gunplay
>better power armors
>some locations are pretty good
>The BoS is more like the original one

Fallout 4 is the worst game bathesda has ever made. It is worse than skyrim a 6 year old game in every aspect. It's not a fallout game, it's a reskined worse skyrim with shooting.

I felt the same way in some sections. I think it was the encounter with Kellogg where it dawned on me. I had a conversation with him and I got... I think three or four dialogue option. No matter which one I'd choose, it'd lead into a fight with him.

That's where I though: If I was playing a good game right now (say, New Vegas) there'd be a speech check here to resolve thing nonviolently. I mean, the guy was obviously just a mercenary who didn't have much against me personally.

Now, all things considered I'd be fine with the game not giving me a choice because it just really, really wants there to be a bossfight at that point. But in that case it should at least have the decency to not give me a bunch of dialogue options if they're all gonna lead to the same result anyway.

You have a point my friend.
And there are a lot of dialogue options that are pretty much the same thing.

wew

Don't forget that most sidequests even then are railroaded as fuck.

No kidding when I played Fallout 4 I felt like the game had zero side quests, it all felt like radiant quests and the main quest.

There were almost no "unique" quests that were not tied to the main quest.
I literally can't remember a single unique, memorable side quest that also had a neat reward or way of solving it.
And I played Fallout 4 for 200 hours.

Do you remember any memorable side quests?

This frustrates me to no end because it felt like they finally succeeded with the art direction. The lighting and color in this game is really effective for both aesthetics and gameplay. It could only have been improved with a better engine, instead of the turd they continue to polish for every new game. I have to give Bethesda's concept guys some credit, I just feel so bad that the rest of their staff shits on their hard work.

Kill your son or nuke Boston.

>There were almost no "unique" quests that were not tied to the main quest.
This is what made me stop playing. I was a few hours in and I realized that all I had been doing so far is going to a place and killing stuff and the only time I had fun was during the Curie quest.
My dialogue choices didn't matter, my interactions with the world didn't matter, it was all about shooting and finding a piece of equipment that was slightly better than the one I was already using. At that point I might aswell play Borderlands.

Exactly, though I did manage to remember a quest now.

Aside from Curie's (the only good companion quest in the game) there's that quest called The Secret of the Cabbot House. It was the only mildly interesting quest in the entire game, and it still was only go here shoot this go here fetch this. Only the premise was interesting, with the alien shit and all that. So I guess Bethesda confirmed Ancient Aliens in the Fallout universe as well.

>At that point I might aswell play Borderlands.
borderlands at least gives you choices in your quests (^:

Protecting president kimball

That's a New Vegas quest.

lmao

Lorenzo?? That's about it really. It was more interesting to explore the locations.

As far as 'unique' quests go, off the top of my head
>the Cabots
>Eddie Winter
>pickman's Gallery
>the Deathclaw Egg
>the lost BoS patrol
>Covenant
>the Cambridge Polymer labs
Plus the more interesting dungeons like Dunwich Borers, the Boston Mayoral Shelter, Sentinel Site, Massachusetts State House etc.

The problem is that the main quest is really bland, as is Bethesda's style. Doesn't help that none of the factions are particularly likeable. I went with the Minutemen just because they were the most pro-active and least dickish.

The problem is the entire game is like this. Every single raider tries to kill you on sight. Almost every location (Outside of Diamond city and settlements) is full enemies you need to kill before you can do anything there. The entire game is too combat focused.

The first 2 games at least gave you ability to try diplomacy with almost anyone to avoid a firefight. In FO4, this is nonexistent regardless of you charisma level. Makes the game pretty shit and repetitive honestly.

3 was actually an rpg

Yeah already mentioned in the thread. The game has like no interesting quests, or any quest that is NOT go here kill this.

I did enjoy exploring some locations, like Dunwich mine, one of the vaults, everything about the Glowing Sea (that area was actually really nice) and that location full of Mr Handies that have gone crazy.

The lost BoS patrol was also neat, I remember that one.

I found it destroy any sort of replay value. In new vegas I would have one playthrough where I wouldn't kill a single person. That would never happen in 4 because the entire game is way too combat focused. Sad.

Last Voyage of the USS Constitution was funny

I can answer you in four ways:
>Fuck you
>Sarcastically fuck you
>Fuck you lader
>Fuck off
Game it's shit.

Glowing Sea was really cool, I like how the area extended beyond the map. I would've appreciated a larger area like this with more caveats. I saved up loads of cores and barely touched power armour until that point. Felt a bit disappointed when there wasn't much to do or see down there.

The world is small and there's not that much towns

For me, the game completely broke once I went into the Institute.
I somewhat enjoyed the game before that, but that was like a total immersion break and just killed the whole fucking game for me.
>want to become part of the institute since the very beginning
>get the railroad to help me get into the institute
>the railroad tells me to install a virus on a pc in the institute and to contact an informant inside the institute
>no option to tell the institute about the rat, about the virus or the fact that the railroad helped me get inside
>pretty sure I even had to install the virus to proceed

And that was when I knew the game was complete trash

Yeah, it was kind of sucky. I remember this one big bunker-like structure that looked like a pyramid with the tip shaved off and I explored it all the way.
It was empty, well there were ghouls and some shitty loot, but that was it.

I was expecting something unique, some computer logs, a unique piece of armor or radiation suit... But nope, nothing.

Exploring the Glowing Sea, as cool as it was, was a huge letdown, because there's nothing worthwhile in the area.

This was a recurring theme in Fallout 4, lots of potential squandered every time. So many cool locations, with nothing going on for them save for shooting some ghouls and raiders. Interesting visual aesthetics with no unique weapons or armors. Interesting locations like the Glowing Sea, that are empty. That submarine and it's absolutely abhorrent quest, so much wasted potential everywhere! It's like Bethesda had some awesome level designers and then the writers just sat there and made up a plot for a quest in 5 minutes. There's barely any interconnecting quests or quests you discover from going to one place because of another reason, quests have usually one way of resolving them: kill everyone and loot the place.
I mean come on...

I gave up playing pretty soon after it tried to force me into the main choice. I liked the Institutes tech and saw no purpose completely destroying them with what they could be used to do, Brotherhood was up it's own arse as usual but respected the Broship and regiment, Railroad were weak as shit in reality; 10 guys with stolen guns hiding underground. Finally Minutemen, the annoying twerps that non stop gave out ridiculous tasks, who you were in control of but couldn't control their motives.

I gave it a fair go but I'll never play it again, has non of the replayability of 3&NV

Least Dickish, at your service.

I did neither? What the hell?

YES! THIS!
I wanted to tell Father about the traitor and THERE WAS NO WAY TO DO IT.
I just ignored it and continued with the institute's quests... Stupid Stupid Stupid
