I'm embarrassed to play the below JRPG's, I feel if I had friends round or something and they seen the box I'd never hear the end of it and I would possibly end up killing myself. This is why I haven't purchased a JRPG since the PS1 days.

Ys is pretty light on the story with the exception of Ys 8 which is jokingly called Trails of Ys due to the amount of text it has

SMT and Bravely default are garbage I already pirated on 3ds and deleted. But i'll check out the other games.

The reverse of what happened to the video game industry. Japanimation went from a broadly viewed and highly accepted medium for everyone, to a niche ultra selective process of selling to die hard fans and die hard fans only.

Video games went the opposite way, from a passion project of a few people creating their vision, that didn't even care if they broke even, to multi billion dollars companies that create games only if they appeal to the mass audience and earn 4x their development budget.

I love Etrian Odyssey and am dying to play 5. 7th Dragon seems similar in some aspects but I'm not sure if this game will scratch that itch. Would Sup Forums recommend me this game?

The classes are all very unique and fun to mess with but the game leans to far on the easy side to make an enjoyable dungeon crawler and the story the game is so insistent on spewing at you is absolutely terrible

If I never equip my party with anything but the base equipment would this make the game a bit harder but playable?

Tried the demo but I never quite get a clear picture of the entire game by only tasting a very small portion of it. Like the EO demos there is only so much you see of all the options available.
