I was kind of dissapointed with NVs dlc now that I think about it.

I get the angle they were going for with DM but I just found it tedious and annoying.

HH was short and boring. Only 2 interesting npcs and one of them is dead.

OWB I actually really enjoyed since I love the whole wacky science vibe being a Chemist myself.

LR was so shit my god. Ulysses had awful writing, in par or worse than some of Fallout 3s characters which stood out in a game like NV since it generally had very good writing. He didn't make any sense and the whole BEARBULL meme has some truth to it.

So with him gone we're left with combat which was boring. The only good thing was ED-E and that wasn't enough to save it.

If anything, HH really made me want a Fallout game set in Utah

>one gold bar is around 4k
>have over 100k in my inventory
Yeah, keep it.

Did they really think people playing the DLC will be needing more money? Especially when DLC is designed for decently leveled characters.

>its a post-apocalyptic world where people use fucking caps for currency
>somehow, golden bars are still pricy as fuck and people buy them

BRAVO, OBSIDIAN

Ackshualy it's a post post apocalyptic world

it's designed for level 20 chars

because there is a functioning nation state with fiat currency around which nearly faced economic collapse when its gold reserve was irradiated in a terrorist attack?
NCR would absolutely LOVE to get some gold

but i sold it to the nigga in Novac

why the fuck woud he need a fucking gold bar?

>tfw tgm
letting go is for suckers

Much like with the caps you can still use gold bars to make stuff with it

to sell to the NCR

>got all 37 gold bars anyways

I understood what they were going for but they could've handled this in much better ways gameplay wise to fit the theme

as an investment
he's a trader, he probably payed you barely a fraction of what it's actually worth because you were looking to pawn it off quickly
now he's looking for a proper buyer either in an NCR official, a Legion representative (they mint their own coins out of precious metals) or else another interested wealthy party from a civilized part of the world be it one of the strip families, a very influential brahmin baron, one of the wealthier BOS chapters etc.

Most of humanity died but human culture most decidedly did not so gold will always have value, especially in the significantly recivilized west coast

Essentially what you did was fall for a "cash 4 gold" salesman

There's no way to get all the 37 bars without cheesing the fuck out of the game, it's your own fault for breaking the game to get your 37 blocks of nothing because they're such high value

what if i sold it to the khans then

Well my point still stands though because of what you just said, they're blocks of nothing when it could've been something more significant and thus more impactful

nah I respect what they were doing gameplay wise
they didn't want to put a hard lock on the gold bars in the form of say a dialog with "dispense 1 gold bar out of 37" and instead put a softer lock on in through inventory weight which is a much more rpg friendly way to handle it (you get to decide if you want to throw other things away, if your character is stronger you can actually carry more gold with you etc.)

and they didn't really need to ensure it was 100% impossible to get all of them because they knew very well its still a gamebryo game, opening the console is easy and if someone was really desperate for infinite money he'd have easy venues to get it

whats the theme of dead money? dont try to make an action survival horror game on a shitty bethesda engine?

They will melt it down and inject it into their bloodstream.
Or like the other guy said before, sell it to legion the only faction that uses gold coin currency in all of fallout.

Sell to someone else who will then sell it to the NCR

well one of several options
1: they travel around a lot, gold is a very compact way of storing a lot of wealth, and one that's pretty hard to steal because gold bars are friggin heavy
2: they, through their chem trade, often come into contact with wealthy members of the NCR and strip families which they can sell it to
3: they have contact with the Legion which again is an interested party
4: one of their endings has them successfully start their own nation, a (be it small) gold reserve helps a lot with this goal

there really should've been some repercussions for taking the loot from the vault or something, at least maybe lore-wise in the ending or something.

the whole DLC Elijah whined how greedy people first wanted to just leave and be free, but they understood about the riches of the Madre, got greedy and met their end so it would be cool if the writers somehow played with that idea in the end

people already used precious metals for currency in ancient times that had even lower civilisational development than the post apocalyptic fallout universe

>whats the theme of dead money?
DUDE, BIOSHOCK TRIBUTE, LMAO

This.
The khans were actually in with the legion and were discussing a truce to attack NCR.
I can imagine them wanting to give the shiny heavy bars to legion who would pay in lots and lots of caps.

Game was ahead of its time.

would be neat if, after you sold a gold bar, you'd occasionally get highwaymen trying to kidnap you and force you to tell where the fuck you got that gold bar and if there's more of it and maybe a few more "civil" encounters like the followers hearing you're "the guy with gold bars" and trying to get you to sponsor their programs, strip casinos treating you like a premium highroller if you enter with a god damn gold bar in your back pocket etc

>Wanted that cool ending where they all say Let go
>Dean HAD to be a fucking asshole cuntshit and ruin that for me.

What the fuck dude, l really liked you and your suave ass voice

New Vegas thread?

LR>DM>HH>OWB

OWB > LR > HH >>>>>>> Some Chinese Fallout Mobile Clone >>>>>>>>> DM

You can't deny it.

>Lonesome road
>Best at anything

BEARANDBULL BEARANDBULL BEARANDBULL BEARANDBULL BEARANDBULL THEDIVIDEWASYOURFAULT THEDIVIDEWASYOURFAULT

Thats some pretty great case of shit taste.

And this is a case of reddit.

Best girl

I also love her voice

ni hao, reddit

...

dead money was dumb
honest hearts was kind of ok but way too small and linear
old world blues was good because it had lots of content and stuff to do, even though the constant LE QUIRKY MAD SCIENTISTS XD memes got kind of annoying over time
lonesome road felt like it was written by a fedora wearing sperg

...

i could replay fallout new vegas without fucking lonesome road only to not hear that faggot with bear and bull all the fucking time.
i got so pissed by his holotape i went straight to the killing instead of trying to speak with him and dismembered his body, he's the only npc that piss me off in NV

Sure beats
>Broken Legs: The DLC - Sonic Underwater Level
>LE WACKY ROBOT SCORPIONS XDDD
and
>that DLC about natives with no memorable parts

>graham
>not memorable

...

DUDE I KILLED MY WIFE AND MY LIFE SUCKS LMAO

Excellent. I always love these.

...

>cheesing
there are multiple ways to get the gold bars and none of them feel like cheesing

I feel like it's a running theme of New Vegas that much of the population are insufferable and should be shot. Moreso than in other Fallout games.

>Pepe posting
>Shit taste

>What the fuck dude,
Yeah, it's a shame, because the ending you get with all the companions alive is really well done, but Dean honestly deserved to die and the ending where he does is great.
>Still... as consumed as he had been with its riches and ruin, the Sierra Madre had held him captive long ago.
Reuniting with Dean after all that and being able to enjoy New Vegas together would be cool as fuck, though.

asked this in the easy pete thread but that died quick so i'll ask again here

has anyone ever got their stats corrupted? on 2 different playthroughs now I've had one of my stats reset to 1 after getting some kind of injury and then having it fixed at a doctor. on one playthrough my head was injured by the sentry bots in house's bunker, then i got healed up in novac and my perception was suddenly 1. on my recent one i was addicted to mentats, then i got my addiction removed and my intelligence was set to 1.

i'm asking because i can't figure out if this is a vanilla bug or is it brought on by one of my mods like jsawyer or YUP or something

Just use console commands to restore them.

The only memorable thing about him is an infinite stack of 1911s.

DUDE ROBOT ARMY LMAO

LR and HH had great environments and gameplay if you could get into them. Personally thought OWB had an absolutely shit environment most of the time but otherwise decent characters. DM was had a good environment but it got tedious to be in after a while and I think I liked the characters in that DLC the most of the 4 other than Elijah who needed more writing

>You dont relate to the guy that held a grudge to a ded man for over 200 hundred years.

What are you, a fruit cake?

>not having 10 str and all carry weight perks and taking like 10 gold bars

Fuck you i'm not letting go.

>[Speech] If your soldiers are in the west, they aren't in the east.
>Wow haha we never thought of that. You're very smart. Bye bye, but I'll be back somehow for no reason.

Bravo Obsidian

I loved all of them other than LR in my first playthrough but the only thing that makes me replay any of them now is if I want loot for whatever character I'm playing.

>Not killing Elijah, put all the gold bars on his corpse and then carry a piece of him near the exit.

IF YOU GO CHEESE, GO REAL CHEESE.

>not putting all the gold bar in a dismembered body part and carry it away
alternatively, i had way too many caps, like 25.000 caps by the time i finally went out and tried HH dlc,
it was kind of a bummer.

>stuffing 37 gold bars into an old man's decapitated head

not really, if you got something to back your claim up do go ahead

>not converting all your caps into paper money and filling your apartment with it

>not converting all your caps into denarius and using it to literally give people money shots

Where can I listen to the clinic ambience holy shit.
why are there no videos containing the whole sountrack, its the best one in the game.

That isn't what I meant user, I should've been clearer. I sympathise with him, but I still think the ending where he's consumed by his grudge and it leads to his death is more fitting.

>It works
ldk senpai, l think he earned the right to be a greedy asshole with his sheer amount of Determination. Also Vera was a slut and Sinclair was a beta so it was fitting.

I've never done this, but doesn't carrying something with Z make you walk at the same speed as if you just took them all and walked out over-encumbered?

DUDE PENIS FEET LMAO

I remember it doing that, it may have been a mod I was using.

Thoughts?

youtube.com/watch?v=NCkwAgTcDBw

Yeah but with Z you can throw stuff around like a head or a piece of meat.

Quite fun

Forced, like the new FO4 songs. Its weird because Dean's song blends right in with the rest of the game.

>golden bars are pricy as fuck after the Brotherhood of Steel blew up the gold mines back West

ftfy

I remember dragging along Elijah's severed head would slow you down and then the head would disappear after going through a doorway.

>Let it go
>have 20000000000 caps
>Grab one gold bar as a souvenir and leave

>he didn't get all the gold bars, leave elijah in the vault and save every companion

How do you even save Christine?

If you aren't an asshole to her in dialogue options she won't attack you at the end

DLCs(minus LR) are really better than the game itself.

Enseeyar will gladly buy it.

Apparently for me it was because I lied to her about putting her in that metal thing.

So, what exactly was in that vault after all?
Was this gold all that was it?I thought there was some other part of the vault that Elijah was searching for?

Elijah was using the pretense of gold to get you to help him be able to use the cloud on the Mojave or something like that.

people had problems saving companions?i had no idea whats going on in my first playthrough and i still saved everyone without problems, didnt even know theres a way to NOT save Christine
The only problem i actually had was with God/Dog and had to reload saves a few times when he was in the kitchen, because i thought i have to go and turn off all the gas valves so he cant ignite himself and he kept noticing me, but i found out that i just have to turn fast and talk to him right away and persuade him to not blow everything up

You can easily make Dean your rival.

Oh, so thats what it all was?I thought theres some other parts of the vault filled with hi-tech and stuff and was kinda disappointed that they showed just this small room

oh please i took all the gold bars and killed all of the "companions" useless trash more like

yeah, i found out about him later when i saw people complaining that hes too easy to trigger and become hostile, but i guess i was just lucky and chose the correct skill checks

iirc only the barter one makes him a cunt

It's just a rule of thumb to use skillchecks whenever it's possible.

>ldk senpai, l think he earned the right to be a greedy asshole with his sheer amount of Determination.
That's a good point, user, and I always kinda liked his greedy asshole personality, he's got style. Until now I've liked the idea thematically that his obsession is what causes him to underestimate the Courier and this time it's what gets him killed (by passing that Barter check), but you know... after thinking about it a bit more, you've convinced me. I think I'll leave him alive from now on. Thanks, user.

>He's never saved the best companion
Just don't be an idiot, and don't be a dick. Don't be rude to her in dialogue, don't threaten to lock her back in the autodock, and don't lock her in the switching station. It helps if you can pass some of the checks to sympathise with her (Medicine, Perception and Intelligence from what I remember)
Bonus points if you play as a lesbian, you get to hold her hand

>Apparently for me it was because I lied to her about putting her in that metal thing.
>Threatening to put her back in the living hell she's only just escaped
Kind of deserved it, baka

Best character tb h, dont know why people dont talk about him when discussing DM

Christine on other hand was such a meh forgettable character, dunno what people liked in her

if I remember right all you have to do to piss off Dean is ONE conversation option and he will always fight you.

I think it's even a speech check (barter?), so a lot of people no doubt took it because those are often "the best" option in a conversation.

well yeah, but iirc, you had a lot of skillcheck options with him(speech, barter, SPECIAL, explosives, etc)and i guess i just lucked out using the proper ones only

I just sneaked past Elijah when he opened that one door
allows you to get to the door in time even with the super slow crawling speed

>DUDE LETS MAKE A SURVIVOR HORROR TYPE DLC WHERE YOU HAVE NO BULLETS AND YOU GOTTA SNEAK AROUND ENEMIES, BUT LETS MAKE THE ENEMY DETECTION BUGGED AS FUCK SO THEY CAN DETECT YOU FROM MILES AWAY EVEN IF YOU HAVE 100 IN SNEAK LMAO

bravo, Obsidian

>God's voice

Is the voice work for New Vegas the best in videogame history? Yes, at least for male characters.

>Is the voice work for New Vegas the best in videogame history?
considering half of the characters in the base game are all voiced by the same guy, i'd say no

Ulysses VA>God's VA>Joshua's VA>Vera/Christine's VA>the VA in every new AAA game in the last 3-4 years

and thats just DLC characters

I told her to fuck off when she tried to fuck with my pip-boy and she was still chill af at the end. I think it was because we had a natural character progression where I slowly warmed up to her and didn't fuck her over after that.

Dean still died though.

It's because Christine is voiced by Laura Bailey who has the most beautiful voice in vidya history.
