No NV / thermal scopes.
No autospot beacon.
No respawn beacon.
Non-engineers can fight against vehicles better, especially air.
Slightly better maps.
No XM25 airburst.
Higher TTK, especially at medium & long range.
No stinger / IGLA.

I feel like BC2 had more. Most of the weapons in BF1 are just variants. You have Factory, Optical, Telescopic, etc. There's only like 3 guns per class when you take away those variants. There's lots of side arms for some reason though, so that's cool I guess.

if it did have suppression it was no where near as bad as it became in later games

No. BF2 technically had it first in the form of blurry screen you get from being near explosions. But BF3 was the first to have it affect aiming and with gunshots.

Suppression doesn't reward you. You're almost never aiming for a suppressive shot.
You're aiming for a body shot whenever you can.
Suppression makes for longer engagements and helps infantry fight against snipers, nothing wrong with it imo.
