Should wired controllers make a comeback?
Should wired controllers make a comeback?
They never went away
fpbp
Garbage thread
Unless OEMs make them, no.
As a general rule, aftermarket/3rd party controllers are GARBAGE. The only exceptions to this are specialty controllers (Racing wheels, guitars) and Logitech controllers. MadCatz and Gamestop brands were *okay* but only just.
What should make a comeback is the original Xbox controller. It's one of my favorite gamepads of all time.
You can still get them they're just normally third party. And no, they suck and make it annoying as fuck to reduce clutter with them because you'll constantly roll them around the controller or some shit and then you'll go to play another day and the chord will be all shitty and crunched into circles and shit.
No
>muh but I can totally FEEL the lag brah totally ruins my quickscopes
There's nothing fast paced enough you would play with a controller that would justify it anyway, any serious competitive games are played with kb/m or fight sticks.
I use them so I don't have to worry about having to change the battery in the middle of a game.
>Anything but the Duke
what a stupid thread.
Huh, I have that controller but the logo is green. After some searching on goggle It's apparently the Japanese version, well I learned something today...I found this at goodwill for a $1.
I like them, hate charging controllers and batteries.
>gbc
>get battery pak that holds a long charge
so good.
Leave the charge cable hooked up permanently if you want a wired controller. The Bluetooth inside my Dualshock 3 stopped working but I can still use it as a controller if I leave the USB plugged in.
this seems like the right thread to ask for help
my ds4 controllers suddenly stopped working on my pc. when plugged in both have an orange light but neither are recognized by ds4windows or inputmapper. I've tried reinstalling the scpdriver but that didn't seem to help. any ideas?
They should remain a optional accessory.
Every console should have at least 2 usb ports on the front of them and the ability to use a usb hub in case you need more.
>Still can't tell if the people saying the Duke controller is the best let alone good are trolling
>MadCatz
Lel! There wont be a madcatz soon.
...
>No battery
>No delay/lag
>Most of them are USB
Why would anyone pick wireless unless they had motion stuff in them.
For consoles wireless controllers is a must but also have the ability to charge and be used while plugged in to the console.
Long distance between TV and my sofa.
>no Hori
Micro USB cables, nigga. almost every controller is a wired controller
Wait wait wait hold up
Do I get this right, modern consoles don't have wired controllers? Like, not even as an option?
I don't want to be the pretentious hipster guy here but I honestly would never willingly go with wireless pads. I feel like the input delay they add is just way too noticeable, never mind having to charge them all the time.
>The only exceptions to this are specialty controllers
does hori do anything but the fight pads
if the original xbox hueg controller came back and added bumper buttons, its would be the perfect controller
Do they actually pass data through cable when plugged in, or only charge?
I know xbone does have a wired mode cause you can use it without batteries, but I don't know about DS4
user even when I'm sitting back relaxing all cool and shooting some people outside of the you know playing call of duty on xbox, I still don't want my controller to be the thing that gimps me. Anyone who's not retarded knows the real deal is mouse and keyboard but in the baby tier controller league everyone's on even footing regardless and you can try your best and have fun indulging in the competition
and fuck me I notice the difference when I'm playing wireless
ds4 passes data through the cable. i use it on pc and dont have a blutooth adapter. xbox 360, on the other hand, doesnt
With 360 it's just power. Which is why I can't use my wireless with my PC.
Also, the battery pack heats up like a mother fucker if you leave the cord in too long.
I don't think the difference in delay between wired and wireless is that noticable, LCD adds much more than that. And modern games don't require such precise inputs anyway so it's fine unless you're playing NES game, even then only thing I could think of that would cause you trouble is Kirby's gundraw minigame
>And modern games don't require such precise inputs anyway
Not requiring precise inputs is not the mark of a modern game, it's the mark of a game that's designed for people who don't like their games to require precise inputs. There are shitloads of games that do.
I don't think there are any modern games that require such precision that 1-2 frames would make a difference, besides fighting games
