It's a great game, but why is it THE greatest?
It's not even the best game in its series but nice try. And before you say something stupid just know that I've owned the game for over 20 years and consider it one of the greatest 2d games in history.
Great taste user.
Meh its not too bad. The original NES one is absolutely flawless as a game to me. The actual ranking is Legend of Zelda, followed by Link's Awakening, followed by Lttp.
Thats not Ocarina Of Time
Zelda shit is so vastly overrated and I don't know why.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
Go shill babby's first 3d adventure elsewhere.
Well it's definitely better than this garbage
Did it? That's cool. I just beat my first randomized LTTP today. This game absolutely is incredible.
>those personalized credits messages
It's not even replayable! That's far from being the greatest!
Breath of the wild is one of the highest rated games of all time and the ride never ends you contrarian faggot who missed out on the golden age. Sucks to be you, now go cry somewhere else.
There really isn't anything with the same level of thought put into its design in gaming thought LttP is really one of the weaker titles and people who act all smug about how they consider it the best irritate me.
zelda fan but i have never played this one. Should i get the GBA or snes rom?
>rom
You should just kys.
It's not the best game of all time but it's definitely the best Zelda game.
Meh, it's alright. Kudos for establishing the longstanding Zelda formula but honestly I respect ALttP more than I enjoy actually playing it.
Try doing the dark world dungeons out of order or maybe a low percent run for more challenge and replayability.
I played this recently, and I found it very boring.
It's not even a case of adhd, I play old school rpgs a lot of times, and I even sat through FF2, the most boring fucking game I've ever played
I've never enjoyed 2d Zelda games, something about the complexity of the games combined with the top-down view gives me a weird sense of claustrophobia.
what are you so mad about ?
That's not how that works!
If you can't replay it in canon order, the game has pacing and/or other technical design issues. Or a lack of intrigue.
Definitely SNES. GBA ports from other systems are always inferior.
Lttp as a game is fine, certainly above average but nothing amazing.
Really it should be hated for establishing the linear and predictable formula that has plagued the series ever since it's released
FFVII was better
Why would I be mad? I'm not the neetfag downloading roms.
Links Awakening was better
>zelda fan
>hasn't played the greatest zelda game to date
GBA has some extra content and a few fixes but has somewhat worse audio quality and annoying Link sfx.
I've been dismissed!
Hate that game.
>in canon order
That's not how good game design works. A truly well designed game allows you to approach its gameplay in multiple different ways.
Only the first 4 dungeons have to be done in order, after that its as non linear as the original. You can't really blame Lttp for the other Zelda games forgetting to do the second half of that sentence,
If, IF, that's the designers' intention, then okay.
ALttP had a numerical order/difficulty scaling for the sages/dungeons.
Ocarina of Time bested it in 1998.
Literally true autism to think ALttP was better than OoT when it was essentially the same game but 3D and inherently more immersive.
>r-retro graphics only count if it's pixel art!
This is the true cancer killing the game industry. Selective interpretation of retro graphics and nostalgia for an era before even rudimentary 3D.
But that's true of the first one too, so what's your point?
Not an argument
Loz1 is pretty linear.
I wish i knew where this meme came from that LoZ1 was nonlinear. Nintendo milked it for all its worth in marketing BotW to faux-gamers who "appreciated" the "retro" approach.
Please stop. You will never force this meme regardless of the amount of autism you put into it
Why was Link's hair pink?
You mean you're probably just a nostalgia kiddy who fawns over Link's Awakening.
I don't really like comparing OOT and LTTP. I love both of them so much. They're two of the most perfect games out there.
LTTP was always playable too me
kind of annoyed me how every dungeon had same music
overworld had same repetative music
cryptic shit everywhere
OoT was a much more enjoyable expierence to me
Lttp is boring and shit. It didn't impact culture kind oot did.
>youtube.com
Also has the best commercial of all time.
>There really isn't anything with the same level of thought put into its design in gaming
except yeah, BotW.
there various things in the new game where I think " I can't believe they designed that." I'm am fully assured there is heart put into BotW at the very least.
literally flashing you the test answers.
so you never played LoZ
LttP has more non linearity and a more dense overworld
OoT has more intrusive storytelling and padding
OoT is mediocre game that relys on peoples feeling that its epic with no real substance.
>Loz1 is pretty linear.
Dungeons 1, 2, and 3 can be done at anytime
4 must be done after 3
5 must be done after 4
6 must be done after 4
7 must be done after 5
8 must be done after 4
9 must be done last
Do you not realize thats still 100s of dungeon order combinations
Unless he thinks needing the fucking raft makes it 'linear'.
In OoT, you can do the water temple, spirit or fire temple in any order after you do the forest temple. The shadow temple requires that the water and fire temple are beaten.
As someone who played it back then as his second game ever I must say no, both LA and OoT are better.
>LttP has more non linearity and a more dense overworld
No it doesn't, in either way. OoT is at least as non-linear and has a variety of areas with more density, along with other areas with tons of open space. LttP simply lacks the open space and otherwise has less content.
>OoT is mediocre game that relys on peoples feeling that its epic with no real substance.
Then the same is true of LttP as its weaker in almost every way.
>and it's still unsurpassed as the greatest Zelda game of all time
ftfy
How's that 3DS sequel?
That doesn't make your opinion any more qualified
Not an argument
>LttP
66 different dungeon orders
>OoT
8 different dungeon orders
Its true LttP has less content but there is actual quality to its content, every house has a purpose, every screen has a secret, it isn't just emptiness designed to make the place look bigger.
why would I argue with someone who never played LoZ
>except yeah, BotW.
What do you mean 'except', I was talking about Zelda as a whole and including it.
>there various things in the new game where I think " I can't believe they designed that."
That's exactly the same kind of thought that was put into the 64 games. I kind of can't believe how people now are going on like "Zelda was good in the past, but the industry has surpassed it" then turn around and are shocked that BotW is actually great because it essentially takes the design philosophies of the older games and executes that in an open world in an original way, which is what fans had been begging for for well over a decade. Zelda at its best is simply several steps ahead of everything in the industry, and it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out that nobody is capable of following in its footsteps.
Crusader of Centy was better
I agree with you OP, but I'd be lying if I told you nostalgia and personal bias had nothing to do with it for me at least. My mother would tell me stories of setting toddler-me in her lap and playing while dad or my aunt would read from the players guide. I still flip through it fondly sometimes when I visit her, just wish she had taken some pictures.
When I try my hardest to rank the Zeldas holistically on their own merits I always find it falling just short of OoT and MM, but it will always be the greatest game to me. I hope I can raise a kid one day to love TLoZ for what its worth rather than just hold empty association with the series for "Gamer cred."
>people actually shitting on LTTP
I never thought I'd see the day.
It wasn't even the best Zelda game when it came out.
Yes it was? And yes it is.
Wrong.
you are the "smart" ass spending 100+ on a 25 year older cartridge
>Watching tonights Randomizer
>That cuck who lost to a tranny because he didn't check the chest in Thief's Fortress
neither is simply saying "LoZ is pretty linear" with no evidence.
LttP is like $25 today.
Might be the greatest 2d game of all time. But that isn't saying much. 2D games are shit, an average 3D game is better than A Link to the Past.
>watching other people play games
Why not just play it yourself? I am
I do, but it's fun watching the races so I can join in next time.
Botw is generic open world garbage and zelda fans cant accept there series is dead post N64
