Why is EVERYTHING they do in third person?
Why is EVERYTHING they do in third person?

Metroid Prime
Japan doesn't like first person.
Fire Emblem? Advance Wars? Metroid Prime?
Their character designs would be wasted.
Dead shitty side game from a garbage franchise abandoned as it should be.
gaijins made that game
Why isn't there any games in second person?
this.
I remember reading somewhere that a good portion of Japanese actually get motion sickness from them.
I think Resident Evil 0 technically is.
do you want games to be in 2nd person or something?
To sell character merchs.
...
What's a game on 2nd person?
Watching from a NPC perspective?
To be fair if anyone gets pissy at the state of Metroid as a whole more people come out around here to defend Nintendo.
yes
pretty much like this
youtube.com
What game could possibly be improved by making it first person rather than third? Even their shooters are better in third person (Splatoon, Kid Icarus, etc.).
So you can see the character
because first person only works on pc and japs only use pcs for porn.
Turd person camera.
I legitimately miss Metroid. 2D or FPS. I don't care. Just give me Samus exploring a dark atmospheric place.
Not even Samus. Just some bounty hunter looking for Samus's crashed ship or something.
I'd like a third person Metroid. I wouldn't mind horror elements either, but the main themes of the franchise need to be center stage or there's no point in making one. Why Nintendo is ok with making Mario the same all the time with a few mechanic or scene changes but hate doing it with Metroid is beyond me.
>I legitimately miss Metroid
>Metroid had four core games, with one remake
>Metroidvania is one of the largest indie scenes
You're a child
Wasn't 3D kinda their gimmick with the N64? Making their 2D sidescrollers or top down views into 3D games.
Such as:
1st person is garbage.
I wasn't defending Nintendo, I was laughing at shitty Metroid babbies, there IS a difference.
Literally who fucking cares
Fire emblem is third person
to sell toys of the mc
Name something good that first person has ever spawned.
yea im not sure what the problem is here
Doom
>Thief
>Deus
>Doom
>Quake
>System Shock
>Half Life
>Might and Magic
>Dungeon Masters
>Grimrock
>Ultima Underworld
>Morrowind
>Turok
>Powerslave
>shooter
>good
Morrowind
>inb4 I said GOOD
>inb4 "th-those don't count"
Miyamoto wanted Ocarina of Time to be in first person.
Thank god Koizumi was there to stop that from happening.
at least metroid prime was first person.
and starfox has a cockpit option in n64 game.
missing Alien: Isolation, and Amnesia, the dark descent, and duke nukem 3d, blood, shadow warrior, etc.
oh, and dungeons of the unforgiven.
There are dozens of amazing first person game. Probably a hundred could be named.
I loved Pokemon Snap. Fuck you Masuda.
Is the joke that he's taking a selfie?
certainly not YOU
>Thief
I would play Nintendo's take on a thief-esque stealth game.
3D platformer appearance and item progression where many significant resources/upgrades have to be found, stolen, bought, or earned. Enemy detection and power levels are unforgiving, but level design is built around it so the game is essentially a puzzle.
I kind of want to do it myself.
You can modify the Camera position in Xenoblade X to give a pseudo first person view.
Because they have character designs that go beyond "grizzled soldier with stubble and/or power armor".
First person is generally nothing but a lame excuse to make fewer models and animations anyway.
Why not?
Fucking this, if I'm going to make a MC/protags I'm going to damn well make sure to show off my creation.
I honestly think consoles just aren't suited for first person controls. If it's a first person game, I want to play it on PC with a KB+M
those dont count
Because first person is for plebs.
If you play first person games, you are outright conceding that you lack any taste in vidya. Get off my board.
Well at least Xenoblade Chronicles X can be played in first person.
>Most of those games are 10+ years old
Thanks for proving his point
because its better.
They can make more amiibos off of it.
Name ONE good first person Japanese game.
And no those shitty JRPGs aren't good
Name one good first person game.
F.E.A.R
Myst
Quake 3
Alien Isolation
Face-ball
And this matters because they came out before you were born, right?
...
those are ass and forgotten
RE7 this year
DOOM and Titanfall 2 last year
No, it matters because even the overall shittiest game genres have had that many games. If you're going to dig back 20 years to try and pad out your list, you've got to realize what that says about the genre as a whole.
Even walking simulators had good games back in the 90's.
This matters because it shows that First Person shooters are shit, only innovative for the times they came out, but age like the worse kind of food you can imagine.
All but Doom are horrible games nowdays, even Half Life feels like shit when I when back and try to play it.
There actually is a part in Battletoads that is 2nd person perspective
that doesn't prove his point at all. he said "ever" not "very recently"
Nah, fuck you, see Here's some more recent ones:
Rainbow Six Siege
Talos Principle
Dying Light
Wolfenstein: TNO
Metro: Last Light
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
Serious Sam 3
Japanese people have a genetic abnormality, in that first person makes them physically ill. As a result, all their games are third person. It's also why, first person shooters don't do well in Japan.
becausse your gay lol
First person games only work for shooters and that's it
Yeah super mario 64 is technically 2nd person
Because children are entertained by characters
also missing Shadow of Chernobyl, Deus Ex, Mount and Blade(though it's switchable), FEAR, SuperHot, SWAT4, Alien vs Predator, Crysis, Red Orchestra, etc...
for some reason the Japanese market is hugely adverse to first person games in general, might be their staunch console culture making games in first person view never have a chance to take off since they're best played on PC
Also immersive sims / RPGs, puzzle games, parkour style platformers, survival horror, stealth, flight sims and racers. Probably more I'm not thinking of.
Driver San Francisco does it to a certain extent. Your character is in a coma and can mind control drivers on the road, which makes you see from their perspective.
there was some obscure game on the ps2 that was a 2nd person game involving giant robots, first saw it played in some mogulus stream from here
if I knew what the fuck the name of the game was I'd show you, since it was the most perfect showcase of a 2nd person game I've ever seen
First person is a meme genre made by PCbros because all they could come up for a mouse and keyboard with was different ways of clicking shit for "video games".
Because it's the best perspective, retard.
Actually its because normies brains cant actually handle first person anything, especially had high frame rates.
If you want your game to appeal to normies you gotta go third person, and Sony first party games are the most normie boring bland "wants to be a movie" as they get.
how is dragging and pushing different from pushing and pulling?
Ask your mom why she charges different prices for it, faggot.
she told me you're the expert dipshit, that's why i asked
Thank god. I hate third person
How old are you and what was your first game?
this has got to be the pettiest and weakest attempt to start shit with nintendo fanboys i have ever seen
Third person is how games are supposed to be. First person was only invented because of shitty PC hardware that couldn't display anything more than a floating hand with a gun
