Why is this still the only mmo that has done quests right?

Why is this still the only mmo that has done quests right?

post your setups, lads

because they were actually quests with designated quest npcs and designated fully modeled and further used quest items with dumb little stories that unlock stuff thats actually useful like shortcuts and areas

Hows Runescape holding up these days? Still worth playing?

runescape had a lot of the point of click aspect which allowed for it to have quests that involved more than just talking someone then going out to kill something.

point and click I meant

If you're not playing Old School you're doing it wrong.

Eldevin is neat

literally grinding, the game

>that penguin quest
pure kino

Nickies get outta here you're supposed to be pushing the boundaries of Oblivion.

Taking a break to deal with a corrupted clone, but anyways I probably put the most time into Runescape from 05 - 09 out of any game I've played so even if I like Oblivion more, this game means a lot to me.

The Secret World

There are 2 versions of it now. RuneScape 3 with better graphics and abilities and actionbars and old school RuneScape which is based on a save from 2007 but gets new updates still.( And has its own dev team) old school is more popular.

Old school typically has around 55k people playing at a time rs3 has like 30k.

It's still around and both games are getting updates so if you want to go back to that grind then sure.

Runescape takes its inspiration from Ultima Online, rather than Everquest.

This. Secret World did questing right but outside of Runescape, there's very few examples of games that did it.

RuneScape had the benefit of being a sandbox MMO. That's the problem here, most games are themepark/content driven and when you're making a content-driven game, you can't only have 100 quests. You need to have 10,000.

Just getting RS nostalgic over past week for some reason. Old school looks interesting but it is the grind that puts me off.

>Secret World did questing right

It'll be interesting to see how the re-release ruins the quests. I'm hoping that they are just changing the combat and all the other annoying gameplay things that get in the way of enjoying the game and leave the quests alone.

I know that feel man. I still log on occasionally but I just can't handle that much grind anymore. I enjoy doing the old quests again though, and sometimes me and some old friends will go do some dks or gwds for shits and giggles.

They didn't touch the quests

I know that feel bro. I want to play some osrs but starting over from scratch just seems like a pain

Fuck. I just remembered I got that stupid twitch free membership and forgot to use it for like a week.

I wish they'd just let you start at all level 60 or so. The game doesn't even start until like level 70 anymore, for fucks sake it's awful trying to level while all these neat updates come out that are catered towards people who have +99 in all skills.

>(not including macros)
What did he mean by this?

you can get 60 in all skills if you really want to in like 2 days
maybe even 1 if you grind 24/7 with the fastest methods

Do you not know about macro and micro nutrients

Okay I have 2078 total so I can call you out on that being bullshit. You can get base 60 relatively quickly but even if you play for 48 hours straight you wouldn't have it, so don't try to pull that.

This is especially true if you have no starting cash.

Was just gonna say this. Money makes it lightning quick, but starting from zero is retard hard.

If any of my friends get into OSRS I always start them off with at least 1m. Sure people go
>hurr durr devalues the learning experience
but no, fuck that there's nothing to learn from spending forever on your first bit of gp. You'll get to that sort've grind soon enough and it will be way more worthwhile. I got my girlfriend started the same way and now she makes her own gp and buys bonds and everything.
