Mass Effect Andromeda outsells Horizon

neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=234351649&postcount=1

>3. Mass Effect: Andromeda ** (Electronic Arts) - Second best Mass Effect debut ever, after Mass Effect 3 (which sold 1.3 million in its first month).
>4. Horizon: Zero Dawn * (Sony) - Best Guerrilla debut ever, selling twice as much as their second highest debut, Killzone 2. That should put it around 648K.

What went fucking RIGHT?

>both games spend hundreds of millions in development costs and massive marketing campaigns
>only make $150 million in revenue max
really makes you think

It being a more established name in the market.

Now fuck off.

>multiplat game outsells exclusive game

............woah guys........

>Unironically linking to neogaf
?????

>HZD is tied to the weaboo roach coach but isn't a weaboo game
Nobody should be surprised. Breaking news, tampon dispensers in men's washrooms not selling well.

You fucks like to use the $40 million number so much.

Biodrones are fucked in the head

>sónyggers triggered all up in this thread

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

>US only
>No Digital Sales tracked for some of the major titles on the list like Horizon, Mass Effect and Overwatch

What's the point of NPD charts again?

BOTH SOLD MORE THAN NIER AUTOMATA

FUCKING WEEBS BLOWN THE FUCK OUT

1. US only
2. No digital
3. Horizon reigns supreme in the home of quality gaming: Europe

>multiplat title sells more than exclusive
Who would have thought.

Andromeda is a good but flawed game.

the average consumer doesnt read reviews and just buys shit based on name

andromeda was going to be successful whether or not it was any good, the real question is whether or not the next mass effect game will actually sell now

Zelda outsold them both.

Should I cancel the torrent download?

The game came out a month ago and already fallen into oblivion.

That's disappointing. I was going to lift the embargo on EA games coming into my house just so I could see the fucking trainwreck through a rental. If it's "Good, but flawed," then the ban remains in place.

Why are all the screenshots of Zelda so blurry and jagged?

That's just the game. I own it, and played it. It was fun for about a week, playing 3-6 hours per day.

I had more fun with Xenoblade X, NieR Automata, and hell, even the first NieR was more enjoyable.

As someone who has just started playing the Witcher 3, that is also a more fun game. At least there's shit to do in that world aside from gathering seeds and visiting shrines.

Zelda outsold it's own system

Whoever made that forgot the playstation all-stars SSB clone.

>listing mass effect 3 as a positive in your morally devoid mindset in where you think the mass effect flourished in your delusional world where mass effect 3 didn't halt the fucking franchise in the dirt and mud and crippled the development team
>all of mass effect 3 team already laid off

No the fuck it didn't

Different studio, and Andromeda is better than 3, except MP, desu.

that not a sales figure

so it could be anything below 1.3 million.

It needs to sell atleast 3-4 million to break even. Whilst the game cost 40 million to make the advertising probably cost equal if not more. Also you have to take into account the non Origin sales where game retailers take 10-20% off the top.

Sales dont mean anything really.

Both games are trash but lets ignore game titles for a second. Anything new is gonna get a bunch of sales, because there are always gonna be people who dont bother reading reviews or comments from consumers, they don't care, they just want to be the first to buy the new thing.

People wait in lines and buy the new thing as soon as it comes out, and the new thing sells really well, but once the new thing is taken home and fucked with it dawns on them that the new thing is shit.

The industry ignores this and says "The new thing is selling like hotcakes, it must be good!" and they keep the "its good" rhetoric, hoping it will continue to sell well. Take that iphone that would bend in half in your pocket, it sold real well too, but it was a piece of shit.

The best way to determine if whatever it is is good or not, you read non paid shill reviews, and watch how well something sales over an extended period of time, a year at least, not just launch day.

Another example is GTA V (or any GTA), look how quick it hit the billions in sales mark, the game was ok but not THAT fucking good, but everyone ran out and bought it as fast as they could.

You cant trust sales as an indicator of how good a game is, especially since both havent even been out for very long

Sales are meaningful, but only when taken into context. You need to include development and advertisement costs.

>thousands of flies can't be wrong

Being part of an already very famous series.

Not being an exclusive.

Everything is profit and goes mostly to the company itself, not the employees.

Staff really dont get paid all that much, most of the money goes to hiring actors and shit to do VO work, the average designer sitting on a comp all day making models or piecing together maps and shit arent paid millions of dollars a year. I know people in the oilfields making more than the average game designer.

Advertisements are expensive, but studios have the money to buy tv time if they need to from funds they already have from previous game sales. Thats why you dont see game ads on tv very much, its mostly online where it dont cost much of anything. Most companies dont even have the money to make games, which is why they use patreon and kickstarter, and some of that money goes into ads....

Absolutely nothing you have said refutes anything I've said.

Sales are meaningful, but not in and of themselves. If EA sinks half a billion into just advertising, more into production (remember that the building and maintenance, along with the systems, etc aren't free), you're gonna need to sell a shit ton of copies to make up for that.

Not saying that ME:A can't turn a profit at a million copies sold, NieR Automata sure as shit did. But you have to take costs into account.

And you still dont understand my original post.

Just because a game sales $1billion launch day/week/month dont mean shit as when you hand a cashier money to purchase the game, you havent played it. You dont know its shit until you get it home and play it.

Assassins Creed Unity sold well the day it dropped, remember? It flew off the shelves, remember? Then we saw just how good the game was in angry yt videos of people showing how much of a broken mess it was.

You cant trust sales immediately after a game comes out.

I never specified early sales. Just sales. Overall sales. And overall sales aren't even a guarantee that a game is good, or else every year, Madden would be the best game ever released.

Remember the rules! No console wars! Moot said so!!!

>I never specified early sales
I did, in my original post, the post you replied to, the post dedicated to not trusting early sales...

I thought the army of women were going to save it, what went wrong??

>even andromeda outsold horizon
that's pretty fucking sad

Women complain about vidya but don't buy them, more news at 11

>What went fucking RIGHT?
They didn't put any information out about the game until a few months before the release, so the normies that were hyped for a new Mass Effect game were blissfully unaware of how terrible it looked.

Bu-but feminism is awesome!

Isn't she fighting against robot and crazy cultist barbarians? What does race have to do with anything? Genuinely confused how she got out of that audition with that idea.
