Well, I'm currently playing Secret of Mana on my Wii U. Before that, it was ActRaiser, and before that, it was Super Metroid. So yeah. It works.

Not saying the console is great or anything, but I'd rather buy a WiiU with 2 games for 200 (which I did) then spend 300 on a Switch.

Wii U never once had a constant stream of games so....

it does sound like the PS4.

But anyway, I like the PSP, it had good ideas and some fantastic games, but was ultimately crippled by a few bad design choices and the portable hardware at the time just not being quite powerful enough for 3D gaming that the PSP was reaching for. The title of best handheld still goes to GameBoy Advance for its simplicity, which is what you want from a handheld.

Lets look at it closer. It came out 2012 but didn't start getting games until late 2013. It was literally a no games machine before that point. It did not get a single good game in 2016, only trash games like Paper Mario Color Splash and Star Fox Zero. So we can say its life effectively ended in December 2015 with Xenoblade X.

Because the patch can only be played through loadiine, which is a shitty outdated method with ridiculously long loading times. For some reason it was never updated to work with wupinstaller, or maybe it just can't idk

The Wii U, the ultimate in Nintendo backwards compatibility. The switch doesn't have that, so fuck it.

There might be a way to apply the patch to a loadiine formatted version of the game, repack it into an installable package, then install it to the hard drive. I tried watching this video but Im not good enough with computers to do it, I can apply the patch but that's as far as I can get.

The Wii U will be remembered as "The lackluster console some people bought in order to play certain games before definitive versions came out on the Switch."

Nintendo can't port the library fast enough. The Wii U had a short lifespan, but it ran on costly life support. Rendering all of the Wii U's system-selling games obsolete seems like a waste of resources. The fact that the Switch had a weak launch compounds this. If they really wanted to do us a solid they would have some system in place for confirming ownership of certain Wii U games and then being able to download ported versions from the eShop, but this is Nintendo we're talking about.

Remember that Nintendo operates in really retarded ways. They took Other M's bad sales/reviews as "welp guess people don't want Metroid anymore" instead of "welp guess Other M was a bad game"
MK8 is getting ported because its the best selling Wii U game at 8+ million. Smash might get ported, but I dont think anything else will.

You can just do all of that on a PC though.

I wouldn't even care if they did, honestly. Just don't expect me to consider any of their ports to be a reason to pick up the switch, as I already have Wii U.

Nintendo has been pumping out shit for the last ten years, and there are two reasons why they can continue:

Their customers are:
1. Kids, who don't have any real discernment.
2. Adults who think that nostalgia = quality.

Try this simple test on someone.

Ask them if they remember X, where X is the name of an 80's or 90's cartoon. I use thundercats.

If they say "yeah, I guess.", they'll likely not care about Nintendo.

I predict Smash will be ported. Nintendo is driving couch multiplayer and "Switch LAN Party" concept pretty hard so it would be confusing that they wouldn't have something relating to their flagship fighting franchise and one of their best system sellers.

The problem is that SSB4 had a fucking huge amount of content, resources, manpower, and fanfare poured into it. To do it all over again and create a game that is definitively more complete than the last would be arduous. For this reason I predict the new Smash game will be a package of all the DLC plus new content, graphics, and balancing. Some of the benefits of this option is that it might be easier to renew all of the licensing deals, and the game wouldn't be bound to the 3DS. I also predict a new lead director will arise to develop the re-release. I'm pretty sure Sakurai has made his peace with the series.

Outside of Inkling, Ice Climbers, and Wolf, I don't know who they could add. Bomberman? Biggu Bossu? Not that it would make sense.
